GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Optima SG series sliding gates are designed for high traffic, military, commercial and industrial applications. The
standard gate height is 3 meters. However, Optima can design and manufacture gates from 1.2 m to 4.5 m in height.
The standard gate width is from 2 m to 12 m. The lower part of the gate is closed by sheet metal to a height 1 m upon
which the “STOP” sign and yellow/black paint are applied. There are 2 or 4 polyamide rollers that keep the door
vertical and position. Polyamide rollers have to reduce noise during operation. These rollers can be adjusted
horizontally to keep the sliding gate exactly vertical. Buttresses are fixed to the ground by steel anchors.
The thickness of the hardened steel wheels is 60mm with an outer diameter of 150 mm. The wheels are connected
to the gate structure by 10 mm plates. The sliding gate and the buttresses are painted to black and yellow. There is a
“STOP” sign in the middle of the gate. When used with Optima ESGO4000, sliding gates with a weight up to 4000kg can
be operated. With the help of the frequency controller any type of speed control like a slow start, fast linear motion and
slow stop can be achieved. This facility brings increased vehicle passing capacity without losing any degree of security.

Push Button: Open button, Close button, Emergency Stop mushroom button.
Flashing Light: Flashes only when sliding gate is in motion for better visibility.
Proximity Switch: Available to sense the position of the sliding gate.
Safety Photocell: Prevents vehicles from closing of sliding gate during passage.
MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
ESGO 4000 sliding gate operator carries the gate with the help of a pinion gear (Numbered as 1) and the gate
performs its movement with the rack-bar ( Numbered as 2) as shown Pic.2 which is mounted on the pinion gear.
Optima sliding gates operated with ESGO 4000 sliding gate operator which weigh up to 4000 kg. The operator is
completely heavy duty.

DRIVE MECHANISM
Drive mechanism provides a smoother and quieter transition for sliding gates. The system is concealed within the
housing of ESGO 4000 sliding gate operator and consists of reducer, bearings, helical gear, transmitter rod, pinion
gear, and key-release sub-mechanism. Key-release sub the mechanism is included as a standard feature and it
allows manual control to the gate in the event of power failure.

CONTROL ELECTRONICS
Control electronics are microprocessor Optima PLC controlled. Every kind of radio control receiver card, safety
photocell, open/close buttons, loop detectors, flashing light, etc. can be integrated into the system easily. Any kind of card
readers, biometric readers, radio control, key switches, etc can be used to start or stop the electromechanical sliding
gate operator, with the help of Optima PLC (Programmable Logical Control). Closing the sliding gate can be utilized by
the automatic time delay facility, as well as inputs from other sources. Time delay can be adjusted between any time
interval by Optima PLC. Optionally by integrating the frequency controller to the control electronics movement control of
the gate can be achieved. For example, a slow start for an adjustable period, fast linear motion for another adjustable
period, and finally again an adjustable slow stop can be achieved. This facility allows the user to adjust the gate speed
according to the request without losing torque.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Study carefully AutoCAD layout drawings for civil and electrical works supplied by Optima before installation.
Make a visit to the site and analyze how to locate the system by measuring distances.
Dig a pit for steel anchors of gate supports and gate rail.
Dig trenches for power cable, keyboard cable, safety photocell cable, etc. According to installation
site requirements.
INSTALLATION MANUAL
SECURITY SYSTEMS | SG SERIES SLIDING GATE
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
After finishing excavation, place anchoring plates of supports and gate rail into the pit using a levelling gauge
as it should be parallel to the ground.
For the power cable, keyboard cable, photocell cable of the gate, etc. lay the PVC conduits inside pits as shown
lay-out plan.

SECURITY SYSTEMS | SG SERIES SLIDING GATE
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
Push the cables from the inner side of the PVC conduits until the tip of the cables come out from required areas
Pour minimum C35 grade concrete carefully and neatly into the forms. Use vibrator to get best result. There is
1-2 cm tolerance permitted for horizontal axis but there is no tolerance permitted for vertical axis of concrete so
the height of the pit should exactly be the same as stated on the drawing.
Never pour concrete when the temperature is below zero degrees. If you have to do it under zero degrees, use
necessary chemicals.
Wait for one week for the concrete foundation to be ready. In the rainy and cold weatherconditi ons, this waiting
time will be longer. Before mount the gate supports, be sure that the foundation is ready.

injury or death if it is maintained improperly.
To avoid injury, always turn off the main power switch before working on the gate.
Frequent gate usage will require more frequent maintenance.
INSTALLATION MANUAL
SECURITY SYSTEMS | SG SERIES SLIDING GATE
Open and close the gate, check whether the gate operates normally.
Gate is equipped with safety photocell device, check its functionality.
Check proximity sensors are still in the proper position, tighten if necessary.
Lubricate gears with grease oil if required.
Check the manual operation mechanism gear, tighten if loose.
Clean residue and mud around rail of the gate.
Check the tightness of bolts on mechanism, sensor plate, gate operator cover.
Check wiring connections between electrical components and terminals. If there is a loose connection between
them, fix cable connections.
Check all wirings for any insulation damage.
Check the earth connection to make sure the system earthed properly.
Remove the electrical and mechanical components from dust and sand.
Check tightness the nuts which fix the gate operator to the base plate.
Tighten them if necessary.
Check the paint condition. If rust occurs, clean the rust with wire brush and sand then paint that area with same
color.
