It embraces communication in both traditional and digital media, and stresses both the receptive and expressive components of communication. t recognizes the importance of communication in a variety of contexts, including personal, social, workplace and academic contexts. This subject conceives of language as a repertoire of meaning-making resources, rather than a set of ‘syntactical/semantic constructs that exist outside of real-world contexts.
