MBA COURSE FRA, Fall 2024 COURSE INSTRUCTOR: SHAKEEL AHMAD

Financial Reporting Analysis Project:


Each student will be assigned 5 companies listed on the PSX along with data of individual
companies. For financial statements you can refer to company’s own website, PSX website and
all the public sources.

This project will have 2 parts:

1) Company performance report: (50% weightage)


a) Update data up till year end 2023 including quarters of 2022 and 2023. (5-year
Annual data required only from 2019-2023 and Quarters for Years 2022 & 2023
b) Calculate individual company ratios based on the formula sheet attached.

3) Write-up: (50% weightage)


For allocated companies, write a minimum of 2000 words write up on each company’s
performance. The write-up must not include any ratio definition. It should consist of
your interpretations only. Make one page company profile report (illustration is already
provided) you are free to use any format just be sure to stick to one page, that includes
the juice of the company financial and operational performance, (including graphs).
Analyze company accounting policies and highlight how these adjustments are reflecting
the performance of the company.
Note:

• Focus on explaining the calculated ratios, rather than explaining what ratio are.
• It's important to cite and/or otherwise authenticate with a source, what you
write in your report.
• Plagiarism limit as per HEC policy any excess plagiarism will lead to zero marks in
the project and DC action.

For Your Information: Use of MS Excel / Word is an art and company’s pay higher salaries to
the individuals who possesses this art, so all your submission will be on excel, Ratios
calculation must be clearly shown on MS Excel, additional grace marks (other than the
allocated marks) will be given if the submission is clearly defined and properly used the excel
built in resources. Please refrain your excel sheets to show (#DIV, #REF, #VALUE) error, Use
Excel IFERROR function where appropriate, it will cost 0.5 absolutes per error and additional
negative marking if formatting is not appealing. Also, if circular reference / link updating
error were found during checking then additional 1 absolute will be deducted.
