Student GIC Program funding instructions
Thank you for opening an account with us. The details of how to fund your newly opened account with
ICICI Bank Canada are given below.

Important funding instructions
Send money from a bank account that is held solely or jointly in your name and from your current
country of citizenship. You may also send money from the account(s) of your parent(s) or spouse.
During instances where money is not received from your own account, we will ask you to provide the
proof of relationship between you and the sender
You will not be permitted to perform any day-to-day banking transactions until the account becomes
operational after your arrival in Canada
ICICI Bank Canada may reject the funds if any or all of the requirements are not met.

Funding amount
Fund your Student Account as per the current requirements of the Student Direct Stream (SDS) by IRCC
(Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). Details of the same can be found on the website canada.ca
under the ‘Student Direct Stream’ section.
ICICI Bank Canada will issue an IBC (Investment Balance Confirmation) after you have received the funds in
your Student Account. Please ensure the following while sending the funds to your account.
Student Direct Stream (SDS) funds are intended to cover the cost of living
CAD 20600 requirements for international students. Please visit canada.ca to find out the amount
that should be transferred for your SDS Visa application
CAD 200 To cover the Student Account processing fee
Recommended amount for covering correspondent/ incidental bank charges as
CAD 25 applicable
Students can deposit up to CAD 50,000 in their accounts prior to arrival. Excess amount after deducting the
processing fee and the correspondent/ incidental bank charges (if any) will be deposited in your Student
Account.
