Current status of search engine visibility vs search traffic
Search Engine Result Pages, better known as SERPS, refer to the pages that display an organic
and paid list of search result in response to a user’s query. Often times, companies choose to
boost their URLs closer toward the top through paid means. Their aim would be to increase the
traffic onto their website. That said, it is also extremely important to direct proper SEO efforts
as to ameliorate their position organically. Several factors come into play in order to achieve
this goal. These factors include, but are not limited to: choosing and emphasizing accurate
keywords, employing proper meta tags, integrating trustworthy backlinks etc.
The figure below displays RSS’s total search traffic:
As the aforementioned figure delineates, RSS total traffic traffic has yieleded fluctuating results
every month. In febuary, RSS received around 15.8K visitors, that increased to 17k leading up to
march. That said, a staggering decrease to 14.8k was evident leading up to april.
There are several contributing factors pertaining to the dynamic nature of the traffic. First and
foremost would be the lack of monitoring and updates. This means, that the developers
responsible for maintining the RSS website, have not been closely monitoring keywords and
updating them accordingly. As a result, there several keywords that are too broad (shorttail), as
opposed to being upgraded to longtail. This will be discussed further under “keywords”and
“reccomendations”. Furthermore, the consistent nature of traffic, could possibly indicate that
the keywords onsite, are most likely seasonal, meaning that the content becomes relevant
depending on the season. On another note, the site also contains ineffective content, that
needs to either be amended or deleted all at once. Lastly, the amount paid to advertise the site
plays a role in how many users visit.
Of the total traffic, the figure below displays the organic search traffic results.
Evidently, the organic traffic delineate stagnancy and consistency, meaning the the content the
site contains are equally relevant over the duration of several months. However, the lack of
change requires the developwers to work more on the conent to improve the traffic.
Keywords
Keyword are always an important aspect to consider. They are what internally tie webpages to
one another, ensuring the the content throughout the site is unified and synchronous. They
also drive traffic because of their relevance to a user’s query. In other words, they are a core
block in the organic traffic drive process. As a result, it is importsant to keep track of the
relevant keywords, and add them wherever necessary.
