IV. PROCEDURES
Learning Episode 1:
1.Presentation Today we will practice first aid procedures for injuries related to physical activities and other emergency situations
2.Importance It is important to practice first aid procedures for injuries related to physical activities and other emergency situations in order to reduce the
severity of injuries and potentially save lives.
3.Formative Assessment At the end of the discussion, the class will practice first aid procedures for injuries related to physical activities and other emergency situations through
a graded performance.

Learning Episode 2:
Motivation: Review of the Past lesson: Signs and symptoms of Muscle Cramps and Sprain

Direction:Match the correct signs and symptoms for each injuries:Muscle cramps and sprain. The teacher will give out strips with signs and symptoms
corresponding for each injuries written on it. The student who has each strips will go to the board and paste it on the exact injury.

Activity: Prior Knowldege:

VIDEO TALK:

The teacher will facilitate a " VideoTalk" activity by showing two videos of musculoskeletal injuries, like sprains and muscle cramps. Students will point out
what they observe in the video and then discuss how to provide first aid for each injury.

Video 1:
Guide Questions:
https://www.youtube.com/ 1. What are the key injuries or accidents
shorts/fqroVZbLDts that you observed in the video?
2. For each injury observed, what would
be your immediate first aid response
if you witnessed someone having a
muscle cramp or sprain similar to
what was shown in the video?
Video 2: 3.1 Have you ever experienced a muscle
cramp or sprain? How did you handle

muscle cramp or sprain while you're
out in public, how would you provide
assistance in that situation?
Analysis: Activity: Introduction to First Aid (10 minutes)

The teacher will discuss First Aid for Musculoskeletal Issues/Injuries:Muscle Cramp and Sprain. The teacher will relate the lesson to the video previously watch.

Video for discussion:

How to provide First aid for Cramps (Pulikat)

Muscle Cramps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whPp8q9afT0

• Sprain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgLOlTrkH4M

Note:The teacher will make a brief discussion on the musculoskeletal system of the body.
Abstraction: Situation:
You are at a crowded park, and you witness two injuries at once:

 A person has cramp while doing yoga.

 Another person has sprained their wrist but is not in immediate pain and is able to move around.

Task:
Together with your group, plan a response that outlines which person you would assist first, the steps you would take for that person, and why.
Then, explain how you would transition to helping the second person. Your response should prioritize actions and justify why you would take
certain measures before others.Report and act out your response.

Guiding Principles:

 Consider the severity of the injuries (life-threatening vs. non-life-threatening).

 Focus on alleviating pain and preventing further harm.
 Ensure that your actions reflect a logical response to the urgency of each injury.

Application:
PAINT ME A PICTURE: "First Aid Simulation: Handling Common Injuries"
Direction:

1. Group the class into four. Each group will be assigned to a station.
2. Provide instructions for each scenario and allocate a specific amount of time for participants to respond.
3. Using only their bodies and personal effects, the group illustrates the scene. At a given signal, everyone freezes. Points can be given to the most creative or
the most realistic

.Form a group there must be 10

members in one group. The facilitator
gives a certain situation (ex. Birthday
Party).
2. Using only their bodies and personal
effects, the group illustrates
the scene.
3.At the count of 5 the facilitator will
give a signal, everyone freezes.
Points can be given to the most
creative or the most realistic
Scenarios:

Scenario 1: Muscle Cramp

Description:
During a hiking trip, one of your group members suddenly experiences
severe calf muscle cramps and is unable to continue walking. They are in
considerable pain and require assistance.
Tasks:
1. Approach the person experiencing calf muscle cramps.
2. Help them stretch the affected muscle gently.
3. Encourage them to rest and drink water.

Scenario 2: Sprained Ankle

Description:
While playing soccer, a participant lands awkwardly after jumping for the
ball, twisting their ankle. They are unable to put weight on the affected ankle
and are experiencing swelling and pain.
Tasks:
1. Approach the person with the sprained ankle.
2. Assist them in elevating the affected leg.
3. Apply an ice pack to the injured area.
4. Offer to help them walk slowly to a safe location.

Note: Rubric for rating will be presented before the activity

Evaluation: SIMULATION: "First Aid Simulation: Handling Common Injuries"
Direction:
1. Group the class into four. Each group will be assigned to a different station.
2. Provide instructions for each scenario and allocate a specific amount of time for participants to respond.
3. Start the simulation, allowing participants to assess the situation, provide first aid, and communicate with the "injured" individual.
4. Encourage participants to communicate effectively, collaborate, and utilize appropriate first aid techniques for each injury type.

Scenarios:

Scenario 1: Muscle Cramp

Description:
During a hiking trip, one of your group members suddenly experiences severe calf muscle cramps and is unable to continue walking. They are in
considerable pain and require assistance.

Scenario 2: Sprained Ankle

Description:

and are experiencing swelling and pain.

he musculoskeletal system, also known as the locomotor system, is composed of bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage,
working together to provide the body with structure, support, stability, and the ability to move.
The musculoskeletal system is the body's framework, providing the structure and means for movement.
 Functions:
o Structure and Support: The bones provide the body's framework and support for organs.
o Movement: Muscles contract and pull on bones, allowing for a wide range of movements.
o Protection: Bones protect vital organs, such as the brain and heart.
