Types of Environment:-
he world we live in is surrounded by different kinds of things that affect our lives.
This surrounding is called the environment. The environment is everything that is
around us, including living things like humans, animals, and plants, as well as non-
living things like air, water, and land. The environment plays an important role in our
lives because it gives us the things we need to survive, such as clean air, fresh water,
and food.
The environment can be divided into different types based on what it includes and
how it affects us. The two main types are the natural environment and the human-
made environment. The natural environment consists of things that exist without
human influence, such as mountains, rivers, forests, and animals. The human-made
environment, also called the artificial or built environment, consists of things that
people have created, such as buildings, roads, and machines.
Apart from these, there is also a social environment, which includes people,
relationships, traditions, and the way communities live together. The social
environment shapes how people behave, learn, and grow. In addition, there are
economic and political environments, which include money, businesses,
governments, and rules that affect daily life.
Natural Environment
The natural environment includes everything that exists without human effort. It is
made up of land, water, air, plants, and animals. All these parts work together to
create a balanced system that supports life.
1. Land
The land is the solid part of the earth. It includes mountains, hills, plains, deserts,
and valleys. Different types of land are used for different purposes. Some areas are
covered with forests, while others are used for farming. The land is home to many
animals and plants. It also provides minerals, rocks, and other resources that people
use for building and industry.Land provides many useful things like soil for growing
crops, minerals for industries, and space for living. It also supports wildlife by giving
animals shelter
2. Water
Water is one of the most important parts of the natural environment. It covers more
than 70% of the earth’s surface. Water bodies include oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, and
ponds. Water is necessary for life, as all living things need it to survive. It is used for
drinking, farming, and generating electricity. However, water pollution caused by
human activities is a big problem that affects the natural environment.
3. Air
Air is all around us and is needed for breathing. The air contains oxygen, which is
important for humans and animals. It also contains carbon dioxide, which plants
use to make food. The quality of air affects human health and the climate. Air
pollution from smoke, factories, and vehicles is a serious problem that needs to be
controlled.
4. Plants and Animals
Plants and animals are important parts of the natural world. Plants provide oxygen
and food, while animals help in maintaining balance in nature. Different types of
plants and animals live in different places based on the climate and land conditions.
Forests, grasslands, and wetlands are home to many species. When humans cut
trees and hunt animals, it disturbs the balance of nature.
Social Environment
The social environment refers to the people, communities, and relationships that
surround us. It affects the way we live, behave, and think. A good social environment
helps people live in peace and harmony, while a bad one can lead to problems like
stress, conflict, and unhappiness.
1. Family and Friends
The first social environment we experience is our family. Families shape our values,
habits, and way of thinking. Friends also play a big role in our lives. Good friendships
make people feel happy and supported, while bad friendships can lead to problems.
2. Education and Schools
Schools and learning places are part of the social world. Education helps people
gain knowledge, understand different ideas, and improve their skills. A good learning
environment provides better opportunities for the future. Teachers, classmates, and
school surroundings all affect how students learn and grow.
3. Culture and Traditions
Culture includes language, customs, beliefs, and festivals. Different societies have
different ways of living, dressing, and celebrating. Traditions are passed from one
generation to another. They help people stay connected to their history and identity.
4. Society and Behavior
The way people interact with each other shapes the social world. Respect, kindness,
and fairness create a positive environment. However, problems like crime,
discrimination, and inequality create difficulties in society. Governments and laws
help in maintaining order and fairness.
A good social environment leads to peace, development, and progress. When people
support each other, communities become stronger. It is important to promote
kindness, understanding, and cooperation in society.
Commercial Energy Sources
Energy is required for many activities like cooking, traveling, and running industries.
There are different types of energy sources, but commercial energy sources are
those that are bought and sold in markets. These include coal, oil, natural gas, and
electricity. These energy sources are widely used because they provide strong and
steady power.
1. Coal
Coal is a black or brown rock that is burned to produce energy. It is one of the oldest
sources of energy. Many power stations use coal to generate electricity. However,
burning coal creates pollution and harms the air.
2. Oil
Oil, also called petroleum, is a liquid fuel found underground. It is used to make
petrol, diesel, and other fuels that run vehicles and machines. Oil is also used in
making plastic, medicines, and chemicals. Since oil is a limited resource, countries
often compete for it.
3. Natural Gas
Natural gas is another important energy source. It is used for cooking, heating
homes, and generating electricity. It produces less pollution than coal and oil,
making it a cleaner option. However, its supply is also limited, so people are looking
for other sources of energy.
4. Electricity
Electricity is the most common energy source used today. It is produced using coal,
gas, water, wind, and sunlight. Almost everything, from lights to computers, runs on
electricity. Because of its high demand, finding clean and renewable ways to
produce electricity is important.
Many commercial energy sources cause pollution and are not renewable, meaning
they can run out in the future. That is why people are now focusing on clean energy
options like solar, wind, and hydro power. These sources do not harm the
environment and can be used again and again.
Conclusion
The environment, whether natural or social, plays a major role in human life. The
natural world provides us with air, water, and food, while the social world affects our
relationships and growth. Commercial energy sources power industries and homes,
but they also have drawbacks like pollution and limited supply.
To make the world a better place, we must protect nature, improve our social
surroundings, and use clean energy sources. Small actions like saving water,
planting trees, being kind to others, and using less fuel can make a big difference. A
healthy environment leads to a happy and successful life for everyone.
