Lord Voldemort, Hagrid, Draco Malfoy, Professor McGonagall
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book in J.K. Rowling’s globally
acclaimed Harry Potter series. It introduces readers to the magical world of Hogwarts and follows the
journey of a young boy who discovers his true identity as a wizard. The book aims to immerse
readers in a world of magic, adventure, and self-discovery. It explores themes of friendship, bravery,
good vs. evil, and the power of love. J.K. Rowling is a British author who wrote the Harry Potter
series, which became a worldwide phenomenon. She went from being a struggling writer to one of
the most successful authors in history. The idea for Harry Potter came to her during a delayed train
journey, and she spent several years developing the story.
The cover of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, vividly captures the magic and adventure of the
story. It features Harry Potter flying on a broomstick, wearing his iconic round glasses and
Gryffindor-colored robes, with an expression of surprise and determination. The background
showcases Hogwarts Castle under a mystical twilight sky, adding to the sense of wonder. A unicorn
in the Forbidden Forest hints at key events in the book, while the golden lightning-shaped title
references Harry’s famous scar. The detailed and enchanting artwork perfectly sets the tone for the
magical journey within the pages.
Harry Potter, a neglected and mistreated orphan, lives with his cruel aunt and uncle, the Dursleys. On
his 11th birthday, he receives a letter revealing that he is a wizard and has been accepted into
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hagrid, the Hogwarts gamekeeper, takes Harry to
Diagon Alley, where he buys his school supplies and learns about his past—his parents were killed by
the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who also tried to kill him but mysteriously failed. Harry is known as
“The Boy Who Lived” due to surviving Voldemort’s attack.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, Harry is sorted into Gryffindor house and befriends Ron Weasley and
Hermione Granger. He also encounters Draco Malfoy, a spoiled Slytherin student, and Professor
Snape, who appears to harbour resentment towards him. As he adjusts to his new life, Harry learns
about Quidditch, a popular wizarding sport, and excels as the Seeker for Gryffindor’s team.
Meanwhile, he and his friends discover a restricted area in the school, guarded by a three-headed
dog named Fluffy, which is protecting something valuable—the Philosopher’s Stone.
As the school year progresses, Harry, Ron, and Hermione uncover clues about the Philosopher’s
Stone, a legendary object that grants immortality and immense power. They suspect that someone is
attempting to steal it, and their suspicions fall on Professor Snape. Through research, they learn
about Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the stone, and its significance. A series of mysterious events,
including a troll’s attack and strange occurrences with Snape, heighten their fears.
Determined to stop the theft, the trio navigates through a series of magical obstacles, including a
giant chess game, a room full of flying keys, and a potion puzzle. In the final confrontation, Harry
discovers that Professor Quirrell, not Snape, is the true villain. Quirrell is hosting Voldemort’s
weakened spirit, who seeks the stone to regain power. Harry’s mother’s protective magic prevents
Voldemort from harming him directly, and as a result, Quirrell perishes, and Voldemort’s spirit flees.
Harry wakes up in the hospital wing, where Dumbledore explains that the stone has been destroyed
to prevent its misuse. Harry is hailed as a hero but learns that the fight against Voldemort is far from
over. As the school year concludes, Gryffindor wins the House Cup due to Harry and his friends'
bravery. He returns to the Dursleys for the summer, knowing that his magical journey has just begun.
The novel explores the power of love and sacrifice, friendship and loyalty, the struggle between good
and evil, and courage in the face of adversity. Rowling’s engaging style brings the magical world of
Hogwarts to life, making the book accessible to readers of all ages. The twists and turns of the story
keep the reader engaged, especially the revelation that Professor Quirrell, not Snape, is working for
Voldemort, Harry’s discovery of the Mirror of Erised’s secret, and the hidden identity of
Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the Philosopher’s Stone.
Compared to other fantasy books, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is unique in its detailed
world-building, relatable characters, and engaging plot. Unlike The Chronicles of Narnia, which has a
direct Christian allegory, Harry Potter focuses more on personal growth and heroism. The book
creates immense excitement with its magical elements, school setting, and suspenseful adventure.
Unlike some fantasy books that rely heavily on action, Harry Potter balances mystery, humour, and
emotional depth.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a thrilling read filled with moments of wonder, suspense,
and exhilaration. From the very first chapter, readers are drawn into a world of magic that feels both
enchanting and immersive. The story is packed with gripping moments
The book is easy to read and highly engaging, with strong character development, inspiring
imagination and creativity, and promoting values like friendship and bravery. However, some critics
argue that it starts a bit slow, and it might be too intense for very young readers.
This book deserves a 5-star rating from me and is a good start to the magical world.

BOOK REVIEW- NON FICTIONAL
The Diary of Anne Frank is a firsthand account of a Jewish girl’s life in hiding during World
War II. The book, based on Anne’s personal diary, provides an intimate and heartbreaking insight into
the struggles of a Jewish family living under Nazi occupation. Anne Frank, a young girl full of hope
and dreams, writes about her experiences while hiding with her family and four others in a secret
annex in Amsterdam. As the days pass in confinement, she documents her thoughts, fears, and
aspirations, offering a poignant glimpse into the human spirit during one of history’s darkest periods.
Anne's diary begins when she receives it as a birthday gift in 1942, just before her family goes into
hiding to escape Nazi persecution. She details their daily struggles, the conflicts between the annex's
inhabitants, and her deep reflections on human nature and the meaning of life. Her diary also
captures the emotional challenges of growing up, including her complex relationship with her
mother, her budding feelings for Peter van Pels, and her yearning for freedom. Despite the horrors
surrounding her, Anne remains optimistic and believes in the goodness of people.
The cover of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank is simple yet deeply powerful. It features a black
and white photograph of Anne Frank, smiling gently, which creates a stark contrast with the tragic
fate that awaited her. The sepia-toned background and minimalistic maroon border give the cover a
timeless and serious tone, reflecting the historical and emotional weight of the diary. The cover
captures Anne’s innocence and optimism, making it even more poignant as readers delve into her
heartfelt words and experiences during World War II.
As time progresses, the pressure of living in confinement intensifies. Fear of discovery, limited
supplies, and internal tensions test the resilience of those in hiding. Anne’s diary captures these
tensions while also showcasing her remarkable maturity, intelligence, and insight. She records the
challenges of rationing food, the fear of betrayal by those outside, and the emotional strain of
isolation. Anne's personal growth is evident in her evolving thoughts, as she transitions from a
playful and innocent child to a deep thinker who questions the world around her. She aspires to
become a writer and uses her diary as a means of expressing her emotions, frustrations, and dreams
for a better future. Her observations on gender roles, war, and human nature reflect an intelligence
far beyond her years. Unfortunately, in 1944, their hiding place is discovered, and they are arrested.
Anne and her family are sent to concentration camps, where she eventually perishes due to the
harsh conditions and an outbreak of deadly disease. The only survivor from the annex is her father,
Otto Frank, who later finds and publishes her diary, ensuring that Anne’s voice and story live on.
The book highlights several important themes, including resilience, hope, fear, and the loss of
innocence. It portrays the impact of war on individuals and emphasizes the importance of family,
courage, and perseverance in times of hardship. Anne’s reflections on human nature and morality
provide deep philosophical insights, making the book not just a historical account but also a thought-
provoking piece of literature. The story compares with other wartime diaries and autobiographies
but stands out due to Anne’s unique voice, youthful optimism, and deep emotional intelligence.
Unlike many historical accounts that focus on major events, this diary offers a personal and deeply
moving perspective, showing the day-to-day struggles of those who lived in hiding. Compared to
other Holocaust memoirs, Anne’s diary is more introspective, reflecting the thoughts and emotions
of a young girl rather than the harsh realities of concentration camps.
The book provides an authentic and personal perspective on World War II and gives a human face to
history. It encourages deep reflection on themes such as resilience, hope, and the impact of war. The
diary is written in an engaging and relatable style that appeals to readers of all ages and offers
valuable insight into the struggles of those who lived in hiding and the horrors of Nazi occupation.
The narrative is deeply moving, offering an intimate portrait of a girl who, despite her circumstances,
refuses to surrender her dreams. However, some parts may be emotionally intense and distressing
for sensitive readers. The diary is incomplete due to Anne’s tragic fate, leaving some parts of the
story unresolved. The narrative primarily focuses on Anne’s personal thoughts, which may not
provide a broader historical context, but this limitation also enhances the authenticity of her
account.
The excitement surrounding The Diary of Anne Frank stems from its deeply personal and raw
depiction of life during the Holocaust. Unlike fictional war novels, this diary is a real-life testimony,
making every word more powerful. Readers become emotionally attached to Anne’s dreams,
frustrations, and everyday experiences, which makes her fate all the more heartbreaking. The blend
of historical significance, human emotion, and youthful perspective keeps readers engaged, making it
an unforgettable and timeless literary masterpiece. The book remains one of the most widely read
and studied accounts of World War II, ensuring that Anne’s legacy continues to educate and inspire
future generations.
Anne’s story continues to inspire millions, serving as a powerful testament to the endurance of the
human spirit. Her diary is not just a historical account but also a symbol of resilience, courage, and
the pursuit of dreams in the face of adversity. The book is a reminder of the atrocities of war and the
importance of tolerance, peace, and understanding among all people. Her words live on, urging
readers to reflect on the past and strive for a future free from hatred and discrimination.
The book easily deserves 4.5 stars as it takes us into the concentration camp and the life during the
Nazi Rule. It’s a must-read story as we see a contrast life of how we live safe and secure versus the
unsecure life Anne Frank.

ARTICLE WRITING- NEWSPAPER REPORT
The Pulwama attack, which occurred on February 14, 2019, remains one of the most
devastating terrorist incidents in India's history. A suicide bombing targeting a convoy of the Central
Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of 40
paramilitary personnel and injuries to several others. This tragic event shook the nation, reignited
tensions between India and Pakistan, and led to significant military, diplomatic, and policy-level
responses. The attack, later claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed
(JeM), was a grim reminder of the persistent challenges posed by terrorism and cross-border
extremism. It also became a turning point in India's counter-terrorism strategy, leading to strong
retaliatory measures.
On the morning of February 14, 2019, a CRPF convoy consisting of 78 vehicles and over 2,500
personnel were traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, heading towards Srinagar. Despite
intelligence warnings about possible terrorist threats, the convoy moved as scheduled, following
standard operating procedures.
At 3:15 PM, as the convoy passed through Pulwama district, a suicide bomber—identified as Adil
Ahmad Dar, a 20-year-old local militant—rammed a Maruti Eeco car packed with over 300 kg of
explosives (including RDX and ammonium nitrate) into one of the CRPF bus. Shortly after the attack,
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a Pakistan-based terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the
suicide bombing. A video of the bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, surfaced online, in which he declared his
allegiance to JeM and stated that he was carrying out the attack as part of a broader jihad against
India.
Jaish-e-Mohammed, led by Masood Azhar, has been responsible for several high-profile attacks
against Indian security forces, including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2016 Pathankot
attack. The Pulwama attack was seen as another escalation in JeM’s terrorist activities against India.
Investigations later revealed that the explosives used in the attack were smuggled into India from
Pakistan in multiple consignments over several months. Reports also suggested that the attack was
planned with logistical support from local Kashmiri militants, highlighting the persistent challenge of
radicalization in the region.
The massive explosion ripped through the vehicle, reducing it to rubble, and caused severe damage
to several other vehicles in the convoy. Eyewitnesses reported a deafening blast, followed by thick
black smoke and a scene of devastation. The impact was so severe that the remains of many soldiers
were difficult to identify.
The attack was the deadliest single assault on Indian security forces in Kashmir in over three decades.
The immediate aftermath saw emergency response teams, military personnel, and civilians rushing
to the site to rescue the injured and recover the bodies. The incident sent shockwaves across the
country, with citizens mourning the loss of brave soldiers. The nation observed a day of mourning,
and mass protests erupted in various parts of India, demanding justice and a strong response against
the perpetrators.
The Pulwama attack united India in grief and anger. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the
nation, stating, “The sacrifices of our soldiers will not go in vain.” In a historic military response, the
Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted airstrikes on JeM terror camps in Balakot, Pakistan, on February 26,
2019. Using Mirage 2000 fighter jets, the IAF dropped precision-guided bombs on terror training
facilities, eliminating a significant number of terrorists and infrastructure.
This marked the first time since the 1971 Indo-Pak war that India had conducted airstrikes deep
inside Pakistan. The action was widely hailed as a demonstration of India’s resolve to combat
terrorism. However, it also led to escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, culminating in an
aerial dogfight on February 27, during which Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was
captured by the Pakistan military. He was released two days later as a goodwill gesture after
diplomatic pressure.
The Pulwama attack remains a defining moment in India’s history, symbolizing both the cost of
terrorism and the resilience of the nation. It galvanized India into action, leading to military strikes,
diplomatic victories, and long-term policy changes. The sacrifices of the CRPF personnel will never be
forgotten, and the attack serves as a constant reminder of the need for vigilance, security reforms,
and global cooperation against terrorism.
While the scars of Pulwama still linger, India has emerged stronger, more determined, and united in
its fight against terrorism. The resolve to protect the nation remains unwavering, ensuring that such
a tragedy does not repeat itself.
"A soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind
him." The bravery and sacrifice of the Pulwama martyrs will continue to inspire future generations to
stand against terrorism and defend the nation with unwavering courage.
ARTICLE WRITING- TRAVEL OF A HISTORICAL PLACE
Visit to Delhi
Mumbai
Amita M V
Vlogger
A visit to Delhi, the capital city of India, is an experience rich in history, culture, and modernity. As I
arrived in Delhi, the first thing that struck me was the blend of ancient heritage and contemporary
urban life. The city is well connected by Indira Gandhi International Airport, a vast network of
railways, metro lines, and highways, making travel easy and convenient. The weather in Delhi varies
throughout the year, with hot summers, chilly winters, and a pleasant autumn and spring. The best
time to visit is October to March, when the climate is comfortable for sightseeing.
The landscape of Delhi is a fascinating mix of historical landmarks, sprawling gardens, bustling
markets, and modern skyscrapers. My first stop was India Gate, a war memorial that stands tall as a
tribute to soldiers. The Rajpath avenue leading up to Rashtrapati Bhavan was an impressive sight.
The grandeur of Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, transported me back to the Mughal era. I
visited Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques, and climbed its minarets to get a stunning view
of Old Delhi.
For lodging, Delhi offers luxury hotels, budget hostels, heritage stays, and boutique guesthouses,
catering to all kinds of travellers. I stayed in Connaught Place, which was an ideal location due to its
proximity to popular attractions, shopping areas, and metro stations. Delhi’s food culture is
legendary, and I made sure to indulge in local delicacies. At Paranthe Wali Gali, I enjoyed stuffed
parathas served with pickles and chutneys. The flavorful chaats of Chandni Chowk, butter chicken at
Karim’s, and kebabs at Khan Market were unforgettable culinary delights. Street food like golgappas,
aloo tikki, and kachori added to the gastronomic adventure.
Recreational activities in Delhi are diverse, catering to both history lovers and modern explorers. A
visit to Qutub Minar, another UNESCO-listed monument, was a highlight of my trip. The intricate
carvings and the towering structure of 73 meters made it a sight to behold. I also visited Humayun’s
Tomb, the inspiration behind the Taj Mahal, with its magnificent Mughal architecture and
symmetrical gardens. For a peaceful retreat, I spent some time at Lotus Temple, an architectural
marvel shaped like a blooming lotus, welcoming people from all religions. Another unique
experience was exploring the National Handicrafts and Handloom Museum, where I saw exquisite
Indian textiles, tribal art, and traditional crafts.
Delhi’s shopping scene is as diverse as its history. From Chandni Chowk’s narrow lanes filled with
traditional fabrics, jewelry, and spices to Sarojini Nagar and Janpath offering budget-friendly fashion,
the markets were full of life. I also explored Dilli Haat, where artisans from different states
showcased handmade goods such as Madhubani paintings, Pashmina shawls, brass figurines, and
wooden carvings. The craftsmanship and intricate designs of Delhi’s handicrafts reflected the rich
heritage of India. The local language spoken in Delhi is Hindi, though English, Punjabi, and Urdu are
also widely understood. The traditional attire includes sarees and salwar kameez for women and
kurta-pajamas for men, but in urban areas, Western clothing is common.
Delhi’s nightlife and entertainment options add to its vibrant appeal. The city offers high-end
lounges, cultural performances, music concerts, and street performances. I even witnessed the most
famous dance of Delhi which is Kathak.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Delhi is its ability to balance the old and the new. While the
historical landmarks like Purana Qila, Safdarjung Tomb, and Mehrauli Archaeological Park remind
visitors of Delhi’s glorious past, the modern skyline, malls, and metro system reflect its rapid
development. My visit to Delhi was a journey through time, offering insights into India’s cultural
richness, architectural brilliance, and culinary delights. Every corner of the city had a story to tell, and
every experience left me with a deeper appreciation of India's capital. Delhi is not just a city—it is a
vibrant historical, political, and cultural hub that leaves an everlasting impression on every traveller.
SPEECH- PHONE ADDICTION
PHONE ADDICTION
Today, I stand before you to talk about an issue that affects almost everyone in this room—phone
addiction. In this digital age, mobile phones have become an inseparable part of our daily lives. They
connect us to the world, provide entertainment, and help us with our studies and work. But have we
ever paused to consider how much time we actually spend on our phones? More importantly, are we
still in control, or have these devices started controlling us?
Phone addiction, also known as nomophobia (fear of being without a mobile phone), is an increasing
concern, especially among teenagers and young adults. Studies show that an average person spends
more than 4–5 hours a day on their phone, often mindlessly scrolling through social media, watching
videos, or playing games. While phones were invented to make our lives easier, excessive use has led
to serious consequences, affecting our mental health, relationships, and productivity.
One of the most alarming effects of phone addiction is its impact on our concentration and academic
performance. Many students find it difficult to focus on their studies because of constant
notifications and distractions from social media. How often do we sit down to study, only to be
interrupted by a message or a trending post? What was meant to be a "five-minute break" turns into
an hour-long browsing session, leaving us with little time to complete our work. The result? Poor
academic performance, stress, and last-minute cramming.
Moreover, excessive screen time is damaging to our health. Staring at our phones for long hours
strains our eyes, causes headaches, and disrupts our sleep cycle. How many of us check our phones
the moment we wake up and keep scrolling late into the night? The blue light emitted from screens
affects our sleep by reducing the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for sleep. Lack
of sleep leads to fatigue, poor concentration, and even mood swings.
Not only does phone addiction affect our mental and physical health, but it also weakens our real-life
relationships. We see families sitting together at dinner, yet everyone is glued to their screens, barely
talking to each other. Friendships are built online, but face-to-face conversations are becoming rare.
The irony is that while phones were designed to bring people closer, they have distanced us from
those sitting right next to us.
Another major issue is the psychological impact of social media. Many young people today feel
pressured to portray a perfect life online. The number of likes, comments, and followers determines
self-worth for many, leading to anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. The constant comparison
with others online creates unrealistic expectations and dissatisfaction with one’s own life.
So, what can we do to overcome phone addiction? The first step is self-awareness. We need to ask
ourselves: Are we using our phones for productive purposes, or are we simply wasting time? Setting
time limits on apps, avoiding phone use before bedtime, and engaging in real-life hobbies can help
reduce dependency. Families should encourage phone-free meals, and schools should educate
students on healthy digital habits. Instead of always relying on our phones for entertainment, we
should engage in outdoor activities, read books, or spend quality time with friends and family.
Technology is a wonderful tool, but only if used wisely. If we allow ourselves to be controlled by our
phones, we risk losing valuable time, health, and meaningful relationships. It is time to take charge of
our lives and find a balance between the virtual world and the real world.
Let us break free from the chains of phone addiction and reclaim our time, our health, and our
relationships. As the saying goes, “Use technology wisely, but don’t let it use you.”
Thank you.
SPEECH- ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION
It is with immense joy and enthusiasm that I stand before you today to celebrate one of the most
awaited events of our school calendar—our Annual Day! This day is not just an occasion but a
reflection of our school’s spirit, achievements, and the immense talent that resides within each
student. It is a day of pride, celebration, and togetherness, where we showcase our growth, learning,
and creativity.
A school is not just a place for academics; it is a place where talents are nurtured, friendships are
formed, and lifelong memories are made. The Annual Day celebration provides a platform for
students to express themselves beyond books and classrooms. It is a day when we step on stage—
not just to perform but to learn confidence, teamwork, and perseverance.
The preparation for this grand event starts weeks in advance. Teachers, students, and staff work
tirelessly to put together an evening filled with cultural performances, drama, music, and inspiring
speeches. The excitement is contagious, with rehearsals, costume trials, and stage decorations filling
the air with energy. Every performance, whether it be a classical dance, a choir song, or a dramatic
play, is a testament to the dedication and passion of our students and teachers.
This day is also a moment to recognize and reward excellence. The prize distribution ceremony is an
integral part of our Annual Day, where students who have excelled in academics, sports, and
extracurricular activities are honoured for their hard work and perseverance. Their achievements
inspire all of us to strive for excellence and believe in our own potential.
One of the most awaited segments of the day is the speech by our Chief Guest, who brings with
them wisdom and motivation for all of us. Their words encourage us to dream big, work hard, and
never give up. This event also serves as a time to reflect on our journey as a school, the milestones
we have achieved, and the path that lies ahead.
Apart from being a grand event, our Annual Day celebration fosters a strong sense of unity and
belonging among students, teachers, and parents. It strengthens the bond we share as a school
community and reminds us of the values we uphold—hard work, creativity, discipline, and
teamwork. It is a day that brings out the best in each of us, reminding us that success is not just
about winning but about participation, learning, and growth.
As we celebrate today, let us carry forward the spirit of this event and continue to strive for
excellence in all that we do. May we always cherish these moments, support each other, and make
our school a place of joy, learning, and inspiration.
Thank you.
