PROPER TECHNIQUE
 FOR HANDWASHING
STEP 1: WET YOUR HANDS
            Turn on the tap water
             and set your hands
              with clean water
         STEP 2: APPLY SOAP
Get some soap and rub it all over
your hands. Make sure you have
enough soap to cover all your
            hands
STEP 3: SCRUB AND LATHER
Rub your hands together to make bubbles. Scrub
the front and back of your hands, between your
fingers, and under your nails. Do this for 20
seconds— that’s about the time it takes to sing
                     “Happy Birthday” two times!
STEP 4: RINSE YOUR HANDS
            Now rinse your hands
              with clean water.
  STEP 5: DRY YOUR HANDS
Use a clean towel or let
  your hands air dry.

COMMON MISTAKES AND MISCONCEPTIONS
    Inadequate time or
    Incomplete coverage
    Myths about
    handwashing
INADEQUATE TIME OR INCOMPLETE
          COVERAGE
Common Mistake: Many people wash their hands for less
than 10 seconds, which is insufficient to remove harmful
             pathogens.
             * Impact on Effectiveness
              - Insufficient Germ Removal: Short washing times do not
allow soap to effectively break down oils and dirt that harbor
             bacteria and viruses.
               - Increased Risk of Illness: Quick washes can leave behind
pathogens, increasing the likelihood of infections, especially in
settings like hospitals or food preparation areas.
