3. Give an account of aluminium industry in India?


Ans.1. Aluminium is the most important nonferrous metal.2. It is the second important metal based industry in
India. 3. It was started in 1942 at Jayakaynagar in West Bengal.4. It is used in the manufacture of aeroplanes,
automobiles, railways, ships, household appliances, electrical cables and its foils are used as packing materials
for paint industry etc. 5. It is a good substitute for steel and copper.6. The location of aluminium industry
depends on the availability of bauxite, supply of hydro electricity, wide market and capital.
7. India ranks 11 th in the world for the production of aluminium products.

4. Describe the distribution of cotton textile industry in India?


Ans.1. Cotton textile industry is widely distributed over more than 76 towns and cities in India.
2. It is concentrated mainly in the cotton growing states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, TamilNadu, Karnataka
,MadhyaPradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
3. Maharashtra and Gujarat are the leading manufacturers of cotton textiles.
