Layout design is the process
of arranging visual and
textual elements on-screen or
on-paper in order to grab a
reader’s attention and
communicate information in a
visually appealing way.
They are the SAME but differ in execution!

• Use of Illustrations/vectors
• Colors
• Characters
• Fonts
Note: They are mostly seen on billboards, tarpaulins,
posters, and social media cards
• Text Heavy
• Complementary photos
• Strict with content
• Simple yet attractive

Note: This type of layout is mostly seen in newspapers,


tabloids, magazines, etc.
(Types and Meanings)

1. Serif-has tail on the end and is more formal


2.Sans serif-has no tail and is used for conventional
designs
3. Script-used for fancy designs, incorporates elegance
4.Slab serif-used for comics and other
designs
Color theory is the study of how colors work together
and how they affect our emotions and perceptions.

Things under:
1. Color combinations/harmony
2. Hues
3. Tones
4.Values
COLOR COMBINATIONS/HARMONY
1. Monochromatic-one hue with different shades and tints.
2. Analogous-three colors that are sitting next to each other.
3. Complementary-two colors that sit directly opposite to one
another.
4. Split Complementary-three colors that are opposite to each
other.
5. Triadic-colors that are situated at endpoints of a triangle.
6. Tetradic-four colors that forms a triangle.
7. Square-colors situated at the endpoints of a square.
8. Warm and Cool-upper half of the color wheels are the
warm colors while the lower half are the cool colors.

HUE is the attribute of color that
distinguishes it as red, blue, green or any
other specific color on the color wheel.

Value represents a color's relative lightness or
darkness or grayscale and it’s crucial for
creating contrast and depth in visual art.
Hues, Values, and Saturation
Saturation, also known as chroma or intensity, refers
to the purity and vividness of a color, ranging from
fully saturated (vibrant) to desaturated (grayed).
