Challenges facing Sustainable Transport in the Arab Region.

Dr. Yarob Badr is a renowned regional Advisor. He holds a PhD in Transport Science from École
Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He has a diverse career encompassing academia,
consulting, and government service, including a ministerial role in Syria where he oversaw a
significant reduction in traffic fatalities. He served as a Regional Advisor at ESCWA, leading
the development of a regional transport strategy. Dr. Badr also contributed to the
establishment of and continues to teach in a Master's program on road safety management.
His expertise spans transport, logistics, and road safety.

Professor Mohammad Samaaneh is a distinguished researcher in Structural Engineering at
An-Najeh National University Palestine. He has held a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering since
2015, awarded by KFUPM. Currently, he is Assistant professor at An-Najah National University,
Palestine. His primary focus is on the assessment and strengthening of structures, particularly,
R.C. and historical buildings. Recently, he has been collaborating with colleagues from
computer engineering to explore the use of AI applications for structural assessment.
Professor Anas Toma is a distinguished researcher in Computer Engineering from Karlsruhe
Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. He is currently an assistant professor in the
Department of Computer Engineering at An-Najah National University, Palestine. His research
interests include computer vision and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on
multidisciplinary applications in medicine and engineering.

Professor Fernando Martínez Abella is a renowned Civil Engineering professor at the
University of A Coruña since 1994, with a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia,
Spain. His research focuses on reinforced/prestressed concrete, construction materials, and
structural testing, leading over 30 funded projects (18 as Principal Investigator). He has
authored/co-authored 73+ indexed papers, 7 books, and 4 book chapters. Coordinator of the
"Construction Group" (gCons) and Scientific Director of CITEEC. Recipient of several
prestigious awards, including medals from the Professional Associations of Civil Engineers
(Galicia and Spain) and ACHE, and an ALCONPAT-International award.

Professor Federico M. Mazzolani is a renowned distinguished researcher known for his
contributions to the field of structural engineering. He is widely recognized as a leading figure
in the field of structural engineering and his work has had a significant impact on the
profession. Professor Mazzolani has made significant contributions to the development of
European standards for structural steelwork, including Eurocodes 3 and 8. He is also a prolific
author and has published numerous books and papers on various aspects of structural
engineering. is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Royal Academy of
Engineers of Spain and the Academy of Engineers of Czech Republic. Professor Mazzolani has
also received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of structural engineering.

Professor Dora Foti is a renowned researcher at Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy. She is a
Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the. She earned her European Doctorate from the
Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Her teaching focuses on structural engineering,
including earthquake engineering and bridge design. Her research interests include seismic
behavior of structures, dissipation and isolation systems, historical building vulnerability, and
dynamic identification. She has been a visiting professor at several universities, including UC
Berkeley and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. Foti has authored over 250 publications
and participated in numerous national and international research projects.
Dr. Maria Francesca Sabbà is a research fellow at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy,
specializing in structural engineering, particularly earthquake engineering and masonry
building behavior. She has co-authored 34 publications focusing on seismic behavior,
historical building vulnerability, dynamic identification, and energy-dissipating frames. Sabbà
has presented at seminars and conferences and participated in several national and
international projects, including PRIN, ReLuis, Interreg IPA Adrion, and Interreg Greece-Italy.
