• Answers to this Paper must be written on the paper provided separately.


• You will not be allowed to write during the first 10 minutes.
• This time is to be spent in reading the Question Paper.
• The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ].

• All sub-sections of each question must be answered in the correct serial order
• The question paper comprises five Sections – A, B, C, D, E and F. There are 37 questions in the
question paper. All questions are compulsory.
• Section A – Question no.1 to 20 are Objective Type Questions of 1 mark each.
• Section B- Question No. 21 to 24 are very short questions of 2 marks each. Answers to these
questions should not exceed 40 words.
• Section C – Question no.25 to 29 are short answer type questions, carrying 3 marks each. Answer
to each question should not exceed 60 words.
• Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each. Answer
to each question should not exceed 120 words.
• Section E – Question no. 34 to 36 are case based questions, carrying 4 marks each. Answer to
each question should not exceed 100 words.
• Section F – Question no. 37 is a map based carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from History (2
marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks).
• There is no overall choice in the question paper.

Nicholas II to abdicate. A Provisional Government was established, but it failed to
address the people’s demands. The Bolshevik Party, led by Vladimir Lenin, promised
“Peace, Land, and Bread” and gained massive support. In October 1917, the
Bolsheviks seized power, leading to the establishment of a communist government.
This marked the beginning of the Soviet Union.
