time;
recall and use the equation to calculate speed.

➢To identify velocity as speed in a given direction

Class Work Update:
What is Speed?
•Definition: Speed is the distance traveled per unit time.
𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 [𝒎]
•Formula: speed[m/s] = 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 [𝒔]

𝒅
v=

•Example: A car travels 60 km in 2 hours.

speed = 30 km/h.
CONVERSION OF UNITS

1KM = 1000 METRES

2KM= 2000 METRES
100 KM= 100 X 1000 METRES = 100000 METRES

1METRE = 1/1000 KM = 0.001 KM

2 METRES = 0.002KM
20 METRES = 20 X 0.001= 0.02 KM
200 METRES = 200 X 0.001 = 0.2 KM
2000 METRES = 2000 X 0.001 = 2 KM

1 HOUR = 60 MINUTES
1 MINUTE = 60 SECONDS
1 HOUR = 3600 SECONDS
