GROUP COURSE WORK 1

INSTRUCTIONS:
(a) Course work to be attempted in groups of 10 as per the
allocation below
(b) Date of submission is Tuesday 17th September, 2024
(c) Should be typed and printed.
(d) Submit through your class coordinator of your study group.
(e) Adhere to the deadline. No groups shall submit the work after
the deadline.

Question 1:
(a) Discuss the major milestones in the history of computers, highlighting
key inventions and their impact on the evolution of modern computers.
(b) Explain the differences between the various types of computers (e.g.,
supercomputers, mainframes, personal computers, and embedded
systems) and provide examples of where each type is used.
(c) Considering the evolution of computers and software, predict and
discuss possible future developments in computer technology and their
potential impact on society.
Question 2:
(a) Explain the key functions of an operating system. How does an
operating system manage hardware and software resources in a
computer?
(b) Compare the features and functionalities of two different operating
systems (e.g., Windows vs. macOS, Android vs. iOS).
Question 3
(a) Discuss the key hardware components of a mobile device and how they
differ from those in a traditional desktop computer.
(b) Compare the operating systems of mobile devices, focusing on the
differences between iOS and Android. Highlight their strengths and
weaknesses.
