ABSTRACT
Title: Time Management Skills of BPEd Student's Involvement in Co-
Curricular and Extracurricular Activities in the University
Authors: Diether T. Espinoza, Jeann N. Melo, Carmetos G. Despolo, Kevin
M. Ordona, and Kimberly Joy E. Melo
Adviser: Dr. Shyla O. Moreno
Time management skills involve using time effectively and
productively to achieve goals. Proper time management has been shown to
positively influence learning, as there is a strong relationship between time
management practices and academic performance (Adams & Blair, 2019).
Students enrolled in BPEd programs can succeed academically by
determining priorities, utilizing time management techniques, and seeking
assistance from peers, instructors, and coaches.
This study significantly impacts students' engagement in time
management practices and contributes to improving the quality of life of
NEMSU students and the broader community. The researchers believe that
effective time management enhances students' involvement and
participation in various activities.
The study employed a quantitative-descriptive research design, using
mathematical and statistical methods to analyze data gathered from
respondents through a Google Form. Responses were analyzed and
interpreted to address the research problem and generate findings. The
study's respondents included 75 students from the College of Teacher
Education at North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU),
representing various programs. A total of 25 students were selected per year
level through convenience sampling, as the researchers prioritized
accessible participants. The content validity of the instrument was reviewed
and verified by experts in physical education.
Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn:
Students widely acknowledged that time management skills, including
prioritization, planning, time tracking, focus, and goal setting, play a crucial
role in balancing co-curricular and extracurricular activities. For BPEd
students, effective time management is essential in meeting their academic
and athletic obligations.
