   A. BEGINNING OF ATTACK ( Defend Area)
1. Conversion from defence to attack:
  - as soon as the ball is won by a rapid switch from defence
   • to attack by the whole team.
  - each player contributes to the beginning of attack
   • by good positional play to support the attack.
  - switching play quickly from defence to attack helps team to utilize the
space the opponents have only conceded because they were
    attacking – counter attack.
• - if not the team has to open up the preparation zones.
                                                                5
2. Opening up of preparation zones:
 - players have to create and exploit empty spaces and
build their attacking moves utilizing width and depth.
 - during the development of the preparation zones the
team has to keep ball possession intending to out-play
the opponent and to open up gaps in its defence for
   penetrative possibilities.
3. Ball possession
-good teamwork is the best way of keeping the ball
in possession and to force the opponent continuously
   to reorganise its defence.
 - the combined moves should be simple, with pace and
  accuracy.
 - be mobile, make space and use it.
 -good training example: 6 v 6; 7 v 7 etc. keeping ball
possession in a restricted area suited for the number
  of players in each team.
                                                          7
          B. THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATTACK IN MIDFIELD (Middle Area)
1. Running free by running into depth and width:
-create depth in attack and link up with the attackers
   in the finishing area.
 - teammates should run into the right space and the
right time to receive the passes for good ball possession.
 - unselfish runs purposely to create space for other
  players are of great value.
-players should make themselves available for a large choice of passes
so that the player on ball possession can choose the player in the best
  situation.
                                                               8
2. Using the space on the wings:
 - getting round the back of defence is one of the most
   productivity form of attacking play.
 - wing play or overlapping can get players round the
back into a scoring or crossing position.
 - when a cross is made successfully the striker has to
act decisively to make the best out of the situation.
                                                           9
3. Switching of play
- organisation, teamwork, and possession of ball by
  precision movement.
- pulling opposition defence to one side, leaving opponent
without cover on the other side, intelligent moves into
space created and decisive switch of play.
- for this players must have vision or the ability to see
what is going on all over the field.
                                                             1
                                                             0
4. Interpassing (wall pass etc.)
- interpassing to get opponent into poor position and
then to go quickly with a change of pace to finish
  the attack.
- successful interpassing needs ability to hold the ball
and play under pressure, precision passing, rhythm
and a quick change of pace.
- wall pass could be decisive when used effectively.
                                                           1
                                                           1
5. Penetrating the midfield by dribbling:
 - running with ball if space is available.
 - to go past retreating opponent in order to create
   numerical superiority.
                                                       1
                                                       2
§ C. FINISHING THE ATTACK 1/3 DEPAN
1. Shooting from short distances and from long range:
- qualities of a good finisher: immense power, absolute
confidence, tremendous determination in tightest of situations,
quick reflexes, perfect timing, sense of
anticipation and to be alert at every moment.
§ - be aware of the position of defenders especially the
      goalkeeper.
§ - the position of the goal in relation to himself.
§ - willing to shoot at every opportunity.
• - first time shot will often take the goalkeeper by surprise
§ and find him unsighted.
                                                                   1
                                                                   3
2. Scoring after dribbling
 - a striker should have the ability to dribble past an
opponent in the penalty area in order to score.
 - when opponent is beaten he has a short moment of
freedom to get in his shot.
 - 1 v 1 represents crucial moment in front of the goal.
                                                           1
                                                           4
§ 3. Finishing after a combination play (wall-pass)
§ - one-two passing movement between two front
players can take their opponents by surprise.
§ - player serving the ball to the ‘wall’ has to run
explosively in order to come into a scoring
position. This sudden change of tempo catches
     players unaware.
§ - combination of speed off the mark with accuracy
      of the passing is vital.
                                                          1
                                                          5
