Read the following instructions CAREFULLY:
1. Assignments must be presented in the correct format. Your assignment should be typed – Arial
font 12; 1.5 spacing; Justified (ctrl + J))
2. Ensure that your details and the name of your campus are clearly indicated on the cover page
of your assignment.
3. Please note that it is your responsibility to retain copies of your assessments

5. Use current research sources, preferably not older than five years.

QUESTION 1 (50 marks)
Damelin Student Registration System
You are hired by Damelin to lead a project that will develop the student registration system for
Damelin students. When developing the student registration system, you must keep the following in
mind. Since Damelin has many branches across the country, the system must allow flexibility of
students when they want to switch campuses or move from one campus to the other. The system
must accommodate students who want to register themselves online, and student who visit the
campuses and get assistance about registration.
The system must be designed to include all departments like sales department, Academic
department, Account department, Marketing department and more. For example, sales department
can login and view the number of students that are registered within one campus and compares with
other campuses. When the student is registering the facilitator or lecturer should be able to login and
see the details of students that are registered for his Subjects/Modules, and can be able to generate
attendance registers, add online activities, study materials, connect online video like YouTube, and
other learning online apps like Jam boards, draw app, and more…
The system must be fully designed to support student through online submission, online POEs and
fully support the managerial paper tray system.

1.1 Discus two SDLC approaches that can be used in the development of this project. (6)
Outline the differences between these two approaches.
1.2 Which SDLC approach will you choose to develop the project above, provide reasons (3)
why you chose this approach.
1.3 Discuss the SDLC phases in line with the development of the Damelin registration (12)
system. Which means that in each discussion of the SDLC phase that you have outlined,
you must show how it fit to the development of this system.
1.4 Draw detailed diagram of a waterfall model and explain when it is suitable to use this (4)
type of model.
1.5 Discuss two approaches of software construction and modelling. (6)
• Which approach will you choose for the development of the Damelin
registration system, and provide reasons why do you choose this approach?
1.6 Discuss the difference between a project and a project manager. (2)
1.7 Discuss reasons that can make the project of Damelin student registration system fail. (6)
1.8 Discuss your roles as a project manager of the project of Damelin Student Registration (8)
system.
1.9 Draw a detailed class notation. (3)
