OPERATING SYSTEM
• It is a set of programs that are closely
interrelated with the hardware, managing
the running processes, input, output and
memory operations.
OPERATING SYSTEM
FUNCTIONS:
• Facilitate human-machine communication.
• Manage the resources: processor(s),
memory(ies) andperipherals, facilitating its
user management.
• Manage the information (the files)

contained in the storage peripherals and the
organization of that information (in
directories).
• Control the execution of applications.
OPERATING SYSTEM
• Operating systems, as general-purpose
work environments, include a number of
varied utilities.
• In general, these utilities are nothing special,
and they simply serve to get you through a
difficult situation. As we use them more and
more, we realize that they are not enough
for us.

• Every operating system has different tools
that can be classified as:

3 .Optimization Tools
• In our case we will explore those of the
Microsoft Windows Operating System

Windows operating system contains for the
user to carry out his or her own activities,
for example writing letters (writings),
designing drawings (editing), performing
calculations, listening to music, surfing the
Internet, etc.

Configuration Tools
• Applications or information boxes that allow
the user to know specific characteristics of
the system (computer) and change the
configuration of some of its hardware
devices (keyboard, mouse, screen, etc.)

• Control Panel: One of the important tasks
of the operating system is to be able to

system. The control panel allows you to
modify these characteristics for the

• System Properties: This is an information
box that shows the user information about the
processor type, RAM capacity, OS version,
etc.
• To access this information box, go to the
properties option in the computer's context
menu.

Configuration Tools
• Disk Properties. Dialog box that displays
information about the storage capacity in
bytes of any disk drive (secondary storage
device) and allows you to assign a name
(label) to it.
• To access this dialog box, go to the
properties option in the context menu of
the disk drive to be checked.
