ABSTRACT
The AICTE Activity Points system, introduced by the All-India Council for Technical
Education, is a structured framework aimed at fostering holistic development among
engineering students. It emphasizes the importance of extracurricular engagement, technical
skill enhancement, and social responsibility beyond academic achievements. Students are
required to accumulate a specific number of points (typically 100) over the course of their
undergraduate program by participating in diverse activities, such as community service,
internships, innovation projects, cultural events, and technical skill development programs.
Each activity is assigned a predetermined number of points based on its scope, duration, and
impact, ensuring balanced involvement in personal, social, and professional growth
initiatives. I have successfully completed 5 activities:
During Plastic Ban Activity. Efforts were made to support the ban on single-use plastics by
organizing drives, educating the public on alternatives, and encouraging the adoption of eco-
friendly materials to reduce plastic pollution.
During skilling the Rural Population Activity, skill development workshops were conducted
to empower the rural population with practical knowledge in areas like digital literacy,
entrepreneurship, and vocational training, contributing to their socio-economic development.
Active participation in the Swachh Bharat Mission included cleanliness drives in public
spaces, awareness campaigns on hygiene, and initiatives to promote waste management for a
cleaner and healthier environment.
During Waste Segregation Activity, programs were organized to educate communities about
waste segregation at the source, highlighting the importance of separating biodegradable and
non-biodegradable waste for effective recycling and disposal.

CHAPTER 1 – Introduction
1.1 - Reduction in Energy Consumption
Plastic pollution has emerged as a critical environmental challenge, stemming from the widespread
production and disposal of single-use plastics. These ubiquitous materials, cherished for their
convenience, have precipitated a crisis that extends across ecosystems, aquatic environments, and
human health. Plastic waste contaminates oceans, rivers, and soils, persisting for hundreds of years
and threatening wildlife through ingestion, entanglement, and habitat destruction. Moreover, the
fragmentation of larger plastic items into microplastics exacerbates the problem, permeating food
webs and potentially endangering species, including humans, who inadvertently consume
microplastics through seafood and other sources. Recognizing the urgency of the situation,
governments, businesses, and communities worldwide have begun implementing measures to curb
plastic pollution, including the imposition of bans on single-use plastics.
Plastic ban awareness focuses on educating people about the harmful effects of plastic pollution on
environment, wildlife, and human health. It promotes reducing single-use plastics and adopting
eco-friendly alternatives like cloth bags, biodegradable products, and reusable containers.
Awareness campaigns involve activities such as workshops, rallies, clean-up drives, and social
media outreach to encourage sustainable practices and ensure compliance with plastic ban
1
regulations.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, commonly known as the Clean India Mission, is a nationwide initiative
launched by the Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership on October
2, 2014. The primary objective of this campaign is to tackle sanitation and hygiene issues
throughout the country, with the ambitious aim of achieving a clean and open defecation-free India
by October 2, 2019, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign
focuses on various aspects such as promoting toilet construction and usage, managing solid waste
effectively, instigating behavioral changes to embrace cleanliness, enhancing sanitation
infrastructure, and raising awareness and involvement among individuals and communities. While
significant progress has been made with millions of toilets built and reduced open defecation rates,
along with increased awareness about sanitation practices, the campaign continues to drive the
nation towards a cleaner and healthier future, despite not entirely meeting its initial deadline.
In our modern society, waste management has become an increasingly pressing issue. With the
rapid pace of technological advancement and the ever-growing population, the amount of waste
generated continues to escalate, posing significant challenges to our environment and public
health. To address this concern, initiatives such as waste segregation drives have emerged, aiming
to instill awareness and promote responsible waste disposal practices within communities.
2
The primary objective of a waste segregation drive is to raise awareness about the importance of
segregating waste into different categories, namely dry, wet, and e-waste. This segregation is
crucial as it facilitates proper disposal methods, thereby minimizing the negative impacts of
improper waste management. By segregating waste at the source, communities can streamline the
recycling and disposal process, reducing the burden on landfills and mitigating environmental
pollution.

CHAPTER 2 - Detail of Activities
Objective:
Enhance Energy Literacy: A fundamental objective of the awareness campaign is to
enhance energy literacy within the community. This involves conducting awareness
campaigns, workshops, and outreach programs to educate individuals about the importance
of energy conservation, sustainable practices, and the potential benefits of maintaining an
energy efficient environment.
Engage the Community: Engaging the community actively in the awareness campaign is a
crucial objective. The initiative aims to encourage participation from individuals,
community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure that energy conservation efforts align with
the specific needs and priorities of the community.
4
The team was meticulously assembled, comprising individuals with diverse skills and a shared
passion for community service.
With permissions in place, the systematic implementation of the awareness campaign on energy
conservation unfolded. The initiative aimed not only to raise awareness but also to bring about a
sustainable change in community behavior related to energy consumption.
Workshops, awareness campaigns, and practical demonstrations were integral parts of the
implementation. Collaborating with local community centers, schools, and residents, the team
conducted sessions focused on promoting energy-efficient practices, sustainable energy sources
and the importance of reducing energy consumption. The initiative sought not only to educate
but also to instill a sense of responsibility for sustainable energy practices within the community.
Objective:
Educate the public about the potential health risks associated with plastic use, such as the
release of harmful chemicals, and promote the adoption of plastic- free alternatives for a
healthier society.
Plastic Ban Awareness (Spreading Public Awareness Under Rural Outreach Programs): visited
shops and homes in the villages and educated them on ban on plastic and motivated them to stop
using plastic and manage waste. Total 51 home and shops were visited during this drive. Impact:
Reaching out to people is easier when we talk to them individually, this can be fulfilled by doing
door to door visits. Volunteers visited 51 houses and educated people about waste segregation,
management, disposal and ban on plastic.
5
The plastic ban awareness drive was performed during the alternative Mondays and Tuesdays,
constituting 12 days (6 weeks) of work for 7 hours per day. A total of 84 hours has been spent in
order to perform this activity.
