Kinds of a Map:
There are three kinds of a map.
1-Physical Map : Physical map shows hills, mountains, rivers, valleys and other land forms.
2-Political Map:A political map or an administrative map shows towns, cities and borders between
countries.
3-Relief Map: A relief map shows the height of hills and mountains with lines drawn to show height in
meters.
Q.2. Differentiate between meridians of longitude and parallels of latitude.
Ans: Meridians of longitude:
The vertical lines are drawn from North to South passing through the North and South Poles. These Lines
running from North to South are Called Meridians of Longitude. There are 360 degrees in a complete circle.
One of these lines has to be 0 degree. This is called the Prime Meridians and it passes through Greenwich,
England.
Parallel of latitude:
The horizontal lines are drawn from East to West, Parallel to the Equator. These lines, running from East to
West, are called Parallels of Latitude. There are 90 parallels of latitude in each hemisphere.The North Pole
is at 90-degree N and the South Pole is 90-degree S.

Ans: Greenhouse effect:
The greenhouse gases in the earth’s atmosphere trap heat to keep our earth warm. This trapping of heat
inside the atmosphere is called the greenhouse effect.
Effects of greenhouse gases :
Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are being increased by the more use of fossil fuels. This blanket of
gases is absorbing more heat day by day which is increasing temperature of the earth. This has caused a
climate change such as temperature and rainfall which modifies the weather balance and ecosystem.

Ans: Climate change is a phenomenon that occurs when there is a change in the climatic patterns of a
