Phase II, Part 1 of the Arab gas pipeline will start from the Aleppo power station and
extend for 62 km to reach a fiscal metering station (FMS) at the Syria / Turkish border
near the town Killis, with two BVS’s (BVS-7002, BVS-7001) along the route.

4 EQUIPMENTS INQUIRED
Description Quantity
5 SCOPE OF SUPPLY
The scope of supply consists of, and not limited to, design, material supply, material
testing, manufacturing, testing/inspection, painting, seaworthy packing, shipping and
the delivery of spare parts as specified.
All works not mentioned herein, but necessary for the proper completion and operation
of the valves and actuators shall be provided by the VENDOR at no additional costs to
the CONTRACTOR.
Materials and paint materials used for the valves & actuators construction shall be
suitable for the environmental conditions and gas composition, as defined in the
Document: General Operating Conditions. All materials and equipment to be
supplied from the first class and good known vendor/manufacturers and shall be new
and unused.
Vendor is responsible for requesting all other information necessary for the proper
design of the valves & relevant actuators.

6.1 General
All valves and actuators shall comply with the definition given in the relevant
datasheets for each type of valve as well as COMPANY specifications, AFPC
standards, completed by the appropriate API, ASME, MSS, and all relevant standards
specified for each particular type of valves and listed but not limited in the chapter
14.2.
6.2.1 All valves shall be suitable for outdoor service without roof
6.2.2 All electrical components shall comply with NEC Class 1, Division 1, Group D
6.2.3 All ball valves shall have a forged body material. Casting material will be
unaccepted. Casting Material are only acceptable for glove and check valves
6.2.4 The required design factor (safety factor) for pressure parts shall be 2.5 as a
minimum
6.2.5 Vendor to provide fire safe certificate for all ball valves sizes 6” and larger as
per API 6 FA.
6.2.6 Valves of 50 kg and heavier shall be handling through fitted lifting points and
shall be equipped with supporting legs or ribs. The drain shall be extended out
of the legs.
6.2.7 Valve bodies shall be designed to withstand the loading induced by the
connected piping without distortion of the internals, affecting free movement of
the internals and sealing performance.
6.2.8 All valves shall be fitted with a valve position indicator (OPEN-CLOSED) and
with an intermediate position indicator for valves with N.D. > 4".
6.2.9 The valves shall be insensitive to dust, dirt, liquid hydrocarbons, water,
methanol and other liquids used during commissioning/hydrotesting.
6.2.10 Design and construction of valves shall allow for installation in all positions
and orientation.
6.2.11 All studs and nuts shall be inorganic phosphate coated, however an alternative
for transport protection may be offered by Vendor, noting that cadmium
coating is not acceptable).

6.2.12 Dimensions of ball, globe, and check valves shall be in accordance with ASME
B16.10. The dimension between the welding ends or flanges of ball valves
shall be in accordance with” Long Pattern” dimensions of standard ASME
B16.10.
6.2.13 Unidirectional valves shall be clearly and permanently marked on the body of
the valve to identify the flow direction. Tagging is not acceptable for this
purpose.
6.2.14 Each valve shall be provided with a permanently attached SS name tag
showing valve pressure rating, type, serial number, inner valve size and type,
valve action, valve travel, control signal pressure and valve tag number. Details
for service conditions, sizing, trim, etc., shall be as per ISA RP 20.1 Form 11A.
7 BALL VALVES
7.1 General
7.1.2 All ball valves except BVS 36” pipeline valves shall be side entry, split body
7.1.4 All ball valves shall be of “Double block and bleed” type
7.1.5 Ball valves shall be trunnion mounted for the valve sizes and pressure classes
as follows:
7.1.5.1 Bore size 6” and larger in ANSI Classes l50 and 300
7.1.6 Valves sealing system shall contain primary soft seals in hydrocarbon and
glycol services and secondary metal-to-metal seals
7.1.7 All ball valves shall have cavity pressure self relieving system
7.1.8 All ball valves shall be equipped with mechanical limit stop devices to prevent
ball over-travel in both open and closed position
7.1.9 Opening torque for ball valves shall be designed based on differential pressure
of 75 bar

7.1.10 Failure in actuators or any electrical components shall not affect any other part
of the valves and shall be replaced while valve is in operation, without any
interruption
7.1.11 Actuators equipped valves shall be tested to achieve the stated torque figure
7.1.12 Painting system, incl. surface preparation, inspection and testing shall be in
compliance with AFPC standard V-9 “Paint System”. Colour of external
surfaces for above ground valves – white RAL 9010.
- Gear boxes shall be filled with easily accessible grease fitting to enable the
lubricant to be renewed while the valve is in service. The VENDOR’s data
book shall include the name and type of lubricant used which shall be
confirmed by COMPANY.
- Gear operators shall be supplied complete with hand wheels and position
indicators.
- Any lubricants shall be suitable for the Minimum Winter Design Temperature
in the location where they are to be installed.
- Lever operated valves shall be capable of being locked with padlocks in the full
open and full closed positions.
- Lever operated valves stem heads shall be circular with a key way for attaching
the Lever in the proper position. Circular steam heads with one or two flats are
acceptable; square stem heads are not permitted.

- Lever operated valves are to be fitted with stops at the full open and full closed
positions to prevent the ball from moving through more than 90 degrees. These
stops shall be in the form of raised bosses, integrally cast or forged with the
valve, or welded to the valve body. Removable stops and/or spring loaded pins
which drop into holes at the open or closed positions are not permitted.
- For valves 2" and over the plate which strikes these stops is to be permanently
affixed to the valve stem and not a feature of the lever operator, to prevent the
valve being mis-operated when the level is removed.
- Actuators will be operated by sweet gas, from the instrument gas system
- Cylinders for all pneumatic actuators for valves installed in FMS (with Tag
numbers starting with 70 xx ) as well as those valves installed in Aleppo
PR&MS (with Tag numbers starting with 73 xx) shall be designed based on
operating feeding gas pressure of 5 - 7 bar.
- Safe Factor: Actuators shall be sized so that the operator torque shall not be
less than 1.5 times the rated breakaway torque of the valve when the valve is
closed against maximum differential pressure (valve working pressure) and the
piston is supplied with an instrument gas pressure of 5 - 7 bar.
- Each actuator shall be equipped with instrument gas filter regulator installed in
the instrument gas supply line. The instrument gas filter regulators shall be of
the reducing-relief valve type, with drainage facility and bolt adjustment
provided with a locking facility, e.g. a locking nut, to prevent tampering.
- A second solenoid valve shall be installed in series with the first one.
- Actuators shall be fitted with 2 off mechanical limit switches (one to detect
fully open, and the other to detect full closed position)

- Operating pressure range for actuators shall be with the following range:

- Actuators shall be supplied with 2 off carbon steel gas/oil tank which are
integral assembled and connected to the actuators
- Back up tank c/w all accessories, sized for three operation (open/close) in case
of power supply failure. Tank is sized for initial charging pressure of 72 bar g
- Safety factor: torque figure shall be considered for safety factor of minimum
1.5 times of net torque.
- Actuators are fitted with 2 off mechanical limit switches (one to detect fully
open, and the other to detect full closed position)
- The control system relating to line break system shall consist of the main
components (in addition to what required in 7.2.C, D):
Check valve
Gas filter
Reference tank
Isolating valve
The other requirements for Line break detection units are mentioned in SPS-1

- Motor Operators for valves shall be sized for 1.5 times the rated breakaway
torque of the valve when the valve is closed against maximum differential
pressure (valve working pressure).
- The actuator shall be operated from local or remote location via selection
switch Local/Remote/Off.
- The motor shall be suitable for direct on line starting and shall be capable of
operating the valve under all the specified conditions with 80% of rated voltage
at the terminals, without exceeding the permissible temperature rise in any part
of the motor. Protection against overheating of the motor shall be an integral
part of the motor. The motor windings shall have class ‘F’ insulation with a
temperature rise limited to class ‘B’.
- For maintenance purposes the motor or limit switch compartment shall not be
below the gear case.
- Large local back-lit liquid crystal display with double indications graphical and
text (multilingual configurable) representation for status of the actuator, gives
digital indication of valve position from fully open to fully closed in 1%
increments (this indication shall be maintained and updated even when the
actuator is powered down)
- Interlocks for opening, closing or both directions shall be able for configuration
- Lost phase protection (if any one or more power supply phase are lost the
motor shall not be energized) with local and remote indication of lost phase
- Manual hand wheel shall be provided to allow manual operation of the valve
during electrical power interruption with pad lockable hand/auto clutch for safe
operation even when the motor is running
8 CHECK VALVES
8.1 General
8.1.1 Check valves 2" and larger shall be full bodied, horizontal swing type. Disks
shall be renewable. Disks of the swing type shall have a flat seating face.
Rolled-in facing rings are not acceptable
8.1.2 Check valves 2" and larger shall be furnished with bolted bonnets with a ½”
NPT tap with plug. Clapper stops shall not be attached by means of this bonnet
tap
8.1.3 Check valves smaller than 2" shall be full bodied ball, lift plug or swing type
and shall be serviceable through the bonnet opening. Bolted bonnets are
preferred
8.1.4 Swing check valves shall be provided with a primary resilient seal and a
secondary metal-to-metal seal. The seal ring shall be designed to withstand a
minimum of 2,000 cycles of operation
8.1.6 For nitrogen injection points, check valves shall be of ball check type instead of
swing type

8.1.7 Painting system incl. surface preparation, inspection and testing shall be in
compliance with AFPC standard V-9 “Paint System”. Colour of external
surfaces – white RAL 9010.
- Globe valves shall be designed according to BS 1873/ ANSI B16.34 and testing
according to BS 6755
10 NEEDLE VALVES
- Needle valves used for atmospheric vent, drain, sample and test services shall
generally be 0.5" NPT threaded type. 6000 psi CWP, 316 stainless steel bar
stock, soft seated
11 SPARE PARTS
The VENDOR shall, and according to a schedule to be agreed upon at a later time,
deliver spare parts for:
VENDOR shall include with its bid a detailed PROJECT QUALITY CONTROL
PLAN covering all production stages, and clarifying the role and scope of all parties
involved such as COMPANY, CONTRACTOR, INSPECTOR, and VENDOR’s QC
Staff. This QCP will be evaluated and approved before order is placed.

All testing and inspection activities performed by the INSPECTOR as specified in this
QCP shall be included in the VENDOR’s bid.

14 SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
The below documents and drawings are considered as part of RFQ, therefore, it shall
be understood that by bidding, the VENDOR confirms that he has read and checked all
of these documents and drawings, and unless commenting in writing, VENDOR is
considered to have agreed to and complying with the content.
