➢
    Solution:
    Let O be the common centre of two concentric circles.
    AB, the chord of the larger circle which touches the smaller circle at M.
    Join 0M and OA.
    Then ∠OMA = 90° [Theorem 10.11]
    ∴ OMA is a right-angled triangle.
    OA2 = OM2 + AM2 [By Pythagoras theorem]
    52 + 32 + AM2
    25 = 9 + AM2
    AM2 = 25 – 9 = 16
    AM = √16 = 4cm

52. The distribution below gives the weight of 30 students of a class. Find the median weight of the students.
     Weight [in kg]            40-45      45-50       50-55        55-60        60-65     65-70        70-75

53. Solve the following :
➢ A dice has six faces marked 0, 1, 1, 1, 6, 6. Two such dice are thrown together and total scores are recorded.
    How many different scores are possible? What is the probability of getting a total of 7?
➢ Each die can result in 0,1,1,1,6,or 6.
    The possible totals are calculated by pairing each outcome of one die with each outcome of the other die.
➢ The unique totals are: {0,1,2,6,7,12}.
➢ To calculate the probability, count all favorable outcomes where the total is 7.
➢ Possible pairs for total 7:
➢ (1,6), (6,1), (6,1)(second 6 from the first die), (1,6) (second 1 from the second die)
            4    1
➢ 𝑃(𝐴) = 36 = 9
➢ A school has five sections : A, B, C, D and E. A class has 23 students, 4 from section A, 8 from section B, 5
  from section C, 2 from section D and rest from section E. A student is selected at random to be the class
  monitor. Find the probability that the selected student is not from sections A, B and C.
            6
➢ 𝑃(𝐴) = 23
54. A die is thrown once. Find the probability of getting,
➢ A number greater than 4
            2   1
➢ 𝑃(𝐴) = 6 = 3
➢ 4 or a number smaller than 4
            4   2
➢ 𝑃(𝐵) = 6 = 3
➢ A prime number
            3   1
➢ 𝑃(𝐶) = 6 = 2
➢ 6 or a number smaller than 6.
            6
➢ 𝑃(𝐷) = 6 = 1
