Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to
CO1 :: identify the abilities needed for professional development and success
CO2 :: develop and hone communication skills to express oneself professionally
CO3 :: construct a powerful impression through an effective resume
CO4 :: practice group discussion and group interaction, to effectively contribute in a formal
setting
CO5 :: demonstrate effective answering techniques to develop skills in creating an impression

Unit I
Professionalism and career planning : identify key soft skills essential for physiotherapists,
empathetic counselling of patients and their families, developing rapport and trust with patients,
emotional intelligence, professional behaviour, and professional grooming
Unit II
Communication and presentation skills : verbal and non-verbal communication (gestures, facial
expressions, space, touch, eye contact, and posture) effective presentation and platform skills,
obstacles to effective communication, active listening for understanding patients' feelings and
perspectives, introduction to digital presentation
Unit III
Resume making : the significance of creating a general resume, its components, a sample resume,
common mistakes, curriculum vitae (elements of curriculum vitae, common errors), an ATS-friendly
resume, understanding of KYC and JD and making effective changes accordingly in the resume
Unit IV
Group discussion : need and importance of group discussion, roles in group discussion, skills
required for effective group discussion, do's and don'ts of group discussion, types of group discussion
topics, idea generation techniques (SPELT, KWA, VAP), problem-solving, leadership skills,
adaptability, teamwork, GD etiquette
Unit V
Self-projection and interview fundamentals : self-introduction, Importance of Self-Introduction
in personal, academic, and professional settings, key components, different scenarios such as formal
and informal introduction, interviews, and networking events, interview etiquette, introduction to
types of interviews-, telephonic, video interviews, pre-placement talks, types of questions (situational,
behavioural, open-ended)
Unit VI
Professional acumen : workplace etiquette, social etiquette, telephone etiquette, e-mail etiquette,
netiquette (online network etiquette), meeting etiquette
