We suggest that you start with reading your Programme Guide available on the IGNOU website
(www.ignou.ac.in) carefully. This will give you a complete idea of the syllabus, the evaluation methodology, the
counselling scheme, etc.

You are advised to do read the following instructions carefully and take appropriate action :

1. Please print your Student Identity Card from the Online Admission Portal after logging into your
account. Your enrolment number is the password to open the file.

1. Please register yourself on the Student Portal https://ignou.samarth.edu.in and create your Student
Account, seven days after confirmation of your admission. You can avail a host of online services
through your student account. Please do not share your login credentials with anyone.

1. You can also check your registration status on the University website along with the latest status of
your study centre and other details after 2 – 3 weeks of confirmation of your admission. Please note

that you may be assigned a study centre other than the one chosen by you due to administrative
reasons. You can check your registration status through your student account as well as on the
University website at https://isms.ignou.ac.in/changeadmdata/AdmissionStatusNew.ASP

1. You are advised to regularly follow the website of your Regional Center (http://ignou.ac.in/
ignou/aboutignou/regional/website) for important announcement / information / updates
regarding your induction meeting, counselling, assignments, mode of assignment submission and
a host of other useful information.

1. Also follow the student zone on the IGNOU website (http://www.ignou.ac.in/ignou/studentzone/1) for
accessing various services.

1. Once you have created your student account, you can create / link your Academic Bank of Credit
(ABC) account, for which a link is provided in your student account. Please click the ‘Services’ link in
your account to avail the various online services offered by the University. For registering your ABC
account please make sure that the spelling of your name and date of birth are the same in the
admission record and your Adhaar card. If there is any mismatch, you will need to get your Adhaar
card corrected, because your name in the IGNOU admission records will remain the same as is
reflected in your class – X certificate.

1. You can check the status of dispatch of study material at http://www.ignou.ac.in/ignou/aboutignou/division/


mpdd/materials. You may visit https://egyankosh.ac.in/ for downloading the digital study material. You can start
studying the digital material till the printed material arrives (if you have opted for printed study material).

2. You may also download the IGNOU e-content App from the Play Store at: https://play.google.com/
store/apps/details?id=ac.in.ignou.Viewer , install it in your smart phone and access the study material anywhere,
anytime.

3. If you are enrolled in an ODL Programme and have opted for the printed study material, you will receive the same in
due course. In case of any delay in receiving the study material, you may contact the Material Production and
Distribution Division at mpdd@ignou.ac.in.

1. If you are enrolled in an Online Programme, please note that you will not receive any printed study
material. Your study material, assignments etc. shall be available to you online on the Learning
Management System (LMS), for which you will receive login credentials separately. You have to
submit your assignments on the LMS portal only. If you face any issues with regard to online
programmes, you may contact coe@ignou.ac.in.

Your Regional Centre / Study Centre will invite you to an Induction Meeting wherein you will be provided
important updates about counselling sessions, assignment submission, term-end examination etc. The meeting
may be held in physical / virtual mode. Please do not miss the Induction meeting, as all your queries will be
addressed during the session.

Counselling Sessions :

Your Regional Centre/Study Centre shall organize academic counselling sessions where you can discuss you
subject-related doubts with your academic counsellor and seek clarifications. The schedule of counselling
sessions shall be available on the website of your Regional Centre.

Though participation in the theory academic counselling is not mandatory, we strongly recommend that you
participate in the sessions actively. Participation in practical sessions, wherever applicable, is mandatory. Please
stay in touch with your Regional Centre to get the schedule of theory/practical counselling sessions.

The counselling sessions are held both in physical and virtual modes. Please make it a point to participate in the
sessions.

Assignment Submission :

Assignments are an essential component of the teaching-learning arrangement of IGNOU. For every course
(paper), there is one assignment. The assignment component carries 25-30% weightage, so please prepare your
assignment responses carefully, after going through the study material.

You should write your assignments in your own words. Responses copied from the study material or other
sources may not be appreciated by your academic counsellor and this may be rejected.

You may submit your assignments at your study centre, or as advised by your Regional Centre. Please visit the
website of your Regional Centre (http://ignou.ac.in/ignou/aboutignou/regional/website ) for further guidance.

Submission of assignments is a pre-requisite for appearing in the term-end examination.

Assignments shall be available on the University website at https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/assignments/

Term-end examinations

The Term-end examinations are conducted twice every year – in June and December. You will appear in the
term-end examination after completing the minimum required duration of the programme. For example, if you
are enrolled in a six-month Certificate Programme in the January cycle of admission, you can appear in the
examination six month later i.e. in June. Similarly, if you are in a one-year diploma programme, you can appear
in the examination after one year of enrolment.

The term-end examination form is to be submitted online at https://exam.ignou.ac.in/

Re-registration

If you are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master Degree Programme, you will need to register for the next semester /
year of the programme – this is known as Re-registration. You can re-register for the next semester / year
irrespective of whether you have passed / completed the courses of the previous year / semester. In fact, if you
wish to complete the programme in the minimum period, you should re-register without any gap.

Scholarship

All the students enrolled in IGNOU are eligible for various Government of India Scholarships, subject to
fulfilment of eligibility criteria. You can apply for scholarship at the National Scholarship
Portal https://scholarships.gov.in/ and contact your Regional Center after applying for further assistance in this
regard.

Skill India Digital Portal

You may consider registering on the Skill India Digital Portal at https://www.skillindiadigital.gov.in/ to get
opportunities for skilling and apprenticeship.
