Installation for Windows Pocket Tools 2.1.

1 for
------------------------ SHARP Pocket Computers

The following procedure is recommended so that Windows users can use

Pocket Tools "out of the box" with minimal configuration.
If you are using an empty portable drive, you can extract the entire contents
of the ZIP file to the root directory of the drive and skip points 1 and 2.

1. Create the folder \PortableApps\ in the root directory of your hard drive
e.g. C:\PortableApps\ or a USB drive if the folder does not already exist.

2. Extract the POCKTOOL folder and subfolders to \PortableApps\POCKTOOL\

Download your prefered other portable applications yourself and unpack them.

3. If you want to read files from your pocket computer or a recording:

Download the version of Audacity without installer (zip file)
from [Link]
and extract it to \PortableApps\Audacity\.

4. If you want to use an editor other than Windows Notepad:

Download the Portable (Zip) version of PSPad
from [Link]
and extract it to \PortableApps\pspad\.

Also copy the SHARP Pocket BASIC Syntax Highlighter

...\pspad\Syntax\SHARP Pocket [Link]
and Context file ...\pspad\Context\SHARP Pocket [Link]
into the corresponding subfolders of \PortableApps\pspad\
and edit \PortableApps\pspad\[Link] or adjust PSPad settings:
see PSPad_INI_changes_for_Pocket_Tools.txt

You should specify in the file properties in Windows Explorer that the
BAS files should be opened with your text editor.

5. Put an optional hex editor in \PortableApps\

if you do NOT want to use PSPad for it and possibly assign
the file types img, bin, dat, rsv to it in the Explorer.

6. If you want to use DSave-30U, it is recommended to install Teraterm and

to use the supplied macro [Link] after the COM port used has been
entered at the end of the line for the TERMLOAD variable in [Link].
A separate PStart menu (English) is included for this.

7. Use your text editor to adapt your paths for the Pocket Tools
in the \PortableApps\POCKTOOL\[Link] script file to the
software you prefer.

8. The PStart application must be closed, see also the taskbar.

Copy your language version PStart_xy.xml from the subfolder
POCKTOOL\PStart\ into the folder POCKTOOL\,
overwrite the existing [Link].
Start [Link] and adjust your settings of PStart menu to your file
structure if you want to use different software or paths.

9. Read the manual in POCKTOOL\Manual, chapter 10.1.

The Pocket Tools are a toolbox that must be understood and configured for
your systems and are not intended to be a plug and play app.
