capabilities.
5.1 INTRODUCTION

Alternative medicine is a term that is commonly used to refer to any form of healing that does
not fall under the umbrella of conventional medicine. It can be defined as a variety of
therapeutic or preventive health care practices that do not follow generally accepted medical
methods and may not have a scientific explanation for their effectiveness, such as
homoeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, and herbal medicine. Medical products and practices
that are not part of standard care are referred to as complementary and alternative medicine.
Medical doctors, osteopaths, and allied health professionals such as registered nurses and
physical therapists provide standard care. Complementary medicine refers to treatments that
are used in addition to conventional treatments. Alternative medicine differs from
complementary medicine, which is meant to supplement rather than replace standard medical
procedures. The medical community does not generally recognize alternative medical practices
as standard or conventional medical approaches. Dietary supplements, megadose vitamins,
herbal preparations, special teas, massage therapy, magnet therapy, and spiritual healing are all
examples of alternative medicine. In this unit we shall be discussing about

1. Su jok Therapy
2. Pranic Healing
3. Acupressure
4. Silva Method

The origin, principles and Applications of each of these healing techniques shall be discussed
in this unit.

5.2 SU JOK THERAPY

Origin

Sujok is a drug-free system that employs acupuncture and acupressure to manipulate energy
points. However, the body's organs and systems are entirely represented in the hands and feet.
In concept, it's similar to Reflexology.

Prof. Park Jae Woo, a Korean scientist, developed it about 35 years ago.

"Sujok" is a combination of two words. In Korean 'Su' means hands and 'Jok' means feet. Thus,
SuJok actually means treating hands and feet.
He presented a theory in 1985 in which he proved philosophy based on reasoning in the form
of a curative method, based on the law of "Principal of Similarity," in which he proved the
correspondence system of our body in our hand and foot. On our hand and foot, he gradually
progressed, displaying not only the physical but also the metaphysical correspondence "Energy
circulation in our body." Within 30 years, these therapies have blossomed into an Innocent,
Drugless, and Result Oriented Therapy/Technique in 42 countries. He founded "ISA-
INTERNATIONAL SU-JOK ASSOCATION" too theoretically and practically spread this
knowledge in its most original and pure form. ISA now governs the treatment and training
pattern with the best skilled trainers to full fill the dream of our beloved and worship able Prof.
Park-“SU-JOK FOR EVERYBODY.

Sujok Therapy is a healing method based on acupressure that is both simple and effective. The
palm and foot in Sujok therapy represent all of the active points in the body, which correspond
to all of the organs and parts of the human body.

The palm and foot in Sujok therapy represent all of the body's organs and meridians. Su refers
to the hand, while jok refers to the foot. Sujok has no negative side effects. This therapy is
completely safe, straightforward, and simple to carry out, even by patients. Because the hands
and feet contain systems of active points that correspond to all of the body's organs and parts,
stimulating these points has a curative effect.

This is a universal method. Sujok can be used to treat a variety of ailments. There are no
precautions that need to be taken during the treatment. It is also one of the safest therapies ever
known because the therapy is natural and only treats natural forces in and around the body.

Sujok Therapy combines the best practices and terminology from traditional oriental medicine.
It recognizes meridians and chakras (discussed in Unit 2) as energy systems and has similar as
well as different methods for dealing with them.

It is a non-medicinal, instantaneous, and effective healing therapy that is completely safe and
has no side effects.

Sujok helps in curing diseases like Arthritis, Bronchitis, Asthma, Cervical Spondalytis,
Backache, Joints pain, Migraine, Hypertension, Sinusitis, Deafness, Paralysis, Constipation,
Acidity, Obesity, Diabetes, Blood-Pressure, Menstrual Problems and many more chronic
disease related to different organs of our body. It is good for curing as well as preventing
diseases of physical, mental and emotional level using Hands and Feet as treatment areas. It
can be used with any other system of treatment without any ill effects.
Principles and Applications

Map of the body in hands and feet

The first dimension is a physical healing system in which cure is achieved by applying simple
stimulation to specific corresponding points in the hands and feet.

The classical 12 main meridians, the 8 extra meridians, and their attendant points are
represented on the hands and feet. They are known as Byol meridians and Byol points. This
form of treatment applies the theories and experiences of classical with the new theories of SU
JOK ACUPUNCTURE.

Sujok is a new type of acupressure and acupuncture treatment that employs a variety of
techniques to stimulate specific points on the hands and feet.

Fingers, any rounded and pointed object, seeds, or a variety of other tools and therapies can all
be used to stimulate energy points.

Sujok is an integrated therapy that employs a variety of tried-and-true methods from other
systems while adhering to its own body map.
The most important aspect is that all of these points can be found on both hands and feet,
allowing the entire treatment to be completed with just one hand or foot. In addition, each organ
has multiple points that need to be energized.

Fig 5.1 Sujok chart

Instruments

Sujok relies on a number of implements to locate and energize the problem points. Probes,
Microneedles, MicroMagnets, Bar Magnets, Chakra Magnets, Micro&Mini Moxa, Rollers,
Ring Massagers, Inserters used for inserting needles, Seeds and many natural materials are
used for this therapy.

Figure 5.2 Diagnostic pen/needle

The device is used to locate and stimulate painful points in the nervous system.

The point locates the point, which is then massaged by the roller.

Two round-tipped ends with different diameters allow the identification of painful points or
areas to diagnose.

Sujok Needles and Needle inserter

Needles generally are of the dimension 01x11 mm.

The needles are small and difficult to work with. As a result, various types of inserters are used
to insert the needles.

The needle insertion device is used to treat the byol meridians.

A specific spring mechanism can be used to precisely place the depth and angle of the insertion.
A magnet holds the needle inside the apparatus, allowing for efficient work.

Magnets:

Most useful tools used in Sujok. They are used for Point healing therapy as well as flow energy
therapy. There are different kinds of magnets :

Magnet stars

Magnet Stars are used for longtime stimulation of neurophysiological points. They are very
helpful with easing of pain.
Figure 5.3 Magnet stars

Chakra magnet

This ring-shaped magnet aids in the transmission of energy to the mid-point. It can be used for
local treatment as well as Chakra projection treatment.

Figure 5.4 Chakra Magnet

Bipolar magnet

The polarity of each magnet is north and south. The North Pole has a white color, while the
South Pole has a yellow color. It is possible to change the flow of energy both locally and in
the meridians using magnets. The toning effect occurs when the magnet's field lines are aligned
with the energy flow, while the sedative effect occurs when the opposite direction is used.
Figure 5.5 Color/bipolar Magnet

Massage Balls

Figure 5.6 Massage balls

The neurophysiological system of the hands and feet is stimulated by massage balls. Separate
massage rings are also available.

Light impulse stimulator

The use of pulsing red light for painless therapy is beneficial. For the treatment of children, it
is highly recommended.
Moxa

Moxibustion, or the burning of Moxa, is a Chinese medicine treatment.

Moxa, also known as mugwort, is an herb. It plays an important role in China's, Japan's,
Korea's, Vietnam's, Tibet's, and Mongolia's traditional medical systems.

Mugwort is typically dried and ground into a powder. After that, it's processed into mini or
medium-sized sticks.

It can be used in a variety of ways, including on a stand, with acupuncture needles, and even
directly on a patient's skin. It's called heat therapy.

Moxa is a specific treatment with heat on neuro physiological points, particularly with chronic
diseases and severe pain.

Methodologies

Sujok is a complete system for applying pressure or massaging points on the feet and palms
with needles or other objects. It cures diseases without the use of drugs or harmful side effects.

It doesn't necessitate a lot of money, nor does it necessitate a lot of medical knowledge,
advanced skills, or complicated devices. It is safe to use at any age and has numerous health
benefits.
Finding points and zones of high sensitivity in the hands and feet can be used to diagnose any
illness or problem in the body.

An impulse is sent to the area of illness to heal it when these points are pressed or stimulated.

Each finger on a hand or foot is analogous to the entire body.

The phalanxes are the three parts of the finger. The head, chest, and stomach are the three main
parts of the body (without the extremities). On the body and on the finger, these parts are neatly
separated from one another. They are in sync with one another.

Diagnosis

Press on various points on the designated zone of organs on a palm with a probe (or anything
with a rounded end, like a ball point pen). Many of the points appear to be painful at first. You
will experience unbearable pain at times. That is the problem area you must energies.

Treatment

Stick massage

A diagnostic stick that can be used to apply pressure is used. You can also use a matchstick,
toothpick, or ball pen, but they should not be sharp. The pain is relieved by rotating the stick
clockwise and anticlockwise until the point is no longer painful. If the point has been correctly
and perfectly identified, we can massage it for 2-3 minutes every 3 hours until it is healed.

Rollers, balls and ring

Many points can be dealt with using a massage roller, massage balls, or massage rings.

The ring is placed on the finger or the ball is held in the palm in elastic ring massage. Massage
the area with your hands until it becomes warm and red. Within a 24-hour period, this procedure
is completed in a few hours.

Magnet method.

With sticky tape, position the magnet on the most painful point.

The magnet has two poles, one on the south and one on the north. If your condition worsens,
switch the magnet's orientation to the opposite side.

Energy of seeds
We're all aware of the power of sprouting seeds. It has the ability to push itself through solid
ground. In therapy, this latent natural energy is used. A sticking plaster is used to adhere the
seeds to the required point. Every 24 hours, they are replaced.

Seeds are used to treat a variety of ailments.

Seed therapy is very effective in the treatment of chronic diseases and certain pains, particularly
joint pains. The seeds could be scattered over the affected area or used to cover the entire
painful area.

Applying Heat

The application of heat, also known as fomentation, is a common treatment for a variety of
aches and pains.

Sujok also uses Moxa sticks to generate heat.

Using Color

Color therapy can help with diseases that have external manifestations. Color therapy has a
positive effect on the healing of skin diseases.

If the malady is only manifested by reddening and no swelling or pain, it should be treated with
black color.

Green or dark blue colors should be used if the illness is accompanied by swelling, itching, or
weak passing pains.

Treat with red and yellow colors if the complaint is significant but not constant pains and
erosion.

Treat with yellow and red colors if the illness is accompanied by constant pains or the
appearance of ulcers, and the affected area becomes gray-black in color.

To use color therapy, a definite color marker must be used to paint points of conformity.

Outcome

Effectiveness is high.

The effect can be seen in a matter of minutes or even seconds.

Absolute Security
The person is never harmed by incorrect application; it is simply ineffective. The Method is a
Universal Approach. Sujok can be used to treat any part of the body, as well as any organ, joint,
or illness.

This is a simple application.

Your knowledge is always with you, in your palms and feet. It's simple to remember major
points and follow the body's shape.

The special tools developed for Sujok therapy are usually used, but if you don't have any, a
toothpick or a match stick can be used to stimulate bio active points.

Permanent remission

If the practitioner completes the full course of treatment and the patient makes changes in their
lifestyle (exercises, yoga, meditation, etc.) and food regulation, treatment success is almost
permanent.

There are no additional precautions required.

There are no precautions that need to be taken during the treatment. It is one of the safest
therapies because it is most natural and only treats natural forces in and around the body.
Dietary changes and treatment schedules were meticulously followed by treating physicians
for a faster cure and better results.

5.3 PRANIC HEALING

Meaning and Origin

Healing is both an art and a science in Pranic Healing. Because our bodies are made up of a
life force and energy, they can heal themselves using techniques that work on that life force.
The 'Energy body' and the 'Physical body' are the two bodies that all things and beings on the
planet have. Both bodies are intertwined in such a way that whatever happens to one has an
automatic effect on the other.

The healing in Pranic Healing is done on the energy body, or aura, which then reflects on the
physical body.

Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, who conceptualized the various methods and techniques of
healing the energy body, was the first to research and experiment with Pranic Healing. His
experiments, methodologies, and concepts formed the foundation of modern Pranic Healing
techniques that people are learning today all over the world.
Because the healers are not medical practitioners, pranic healing is never a replacement for
medical treatment; rather, it is a supplement to cure various body ailments and disorders by
following a systematic procedure devised by Master Choa and applied to the patient's energy
body. Pranic healing is known to treat a variety of ailments ranging from headaches, muscle
and joint pain, cold, cough, and fever to serious diseases involving the respiratory, circulatory,
spine, nerve, or blood systems, as well as the malfunction of major organs such as the heart
and kidneys. It's also been shown to help with emotional and anxiety-related disorders, which
are on the rise these days.

Pranic Healing treats the source of the disease by locating the root cause of the
disorder/discomfort and healing the energy chakra associated with the affected body party
because it focuses on an individual's energy body, aura, and chakras.

Pranic Healing has been known to heal millions of people worldwide with a miraculous non-
touch healing practice since its recognition, and it is also taught to the general public.

Principles and Applications

Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui created and developed Pranic Healing, a simple yet powerful and
effective system of no touch energy healing.

Our body is made up of two parts, according to Pranic healing principles: the visible physical
body and the invisible energy body known as the bioplasmic body or aura.

The visible physical body refers to the part of the human body that we can see, touch, and
recognize.

Our aura is an invisible luminous energy body that extends 2-6 inches beyond our visible
physical body and interpenetrates it. The etheric or astral body is the name given to this energy
body.

Pranic Healing is a way to understand and experience the world of auras, chakras, Prana, chi,
and psychic phenomena in a clear and direct way. To comprehend the nature of one's thoughts
and emotions. To reclaim control over your life, manage stress, and heal yourself and others.

How it works

Pranic healing heals diseased energy levels by utilizing Prana (or chi/qi/ki), or life energy, and
the chakras, or energy centers.
The chakras, ki, and aura of the patient are all manipulated during the healing process. Psychic
healing, therapeutic touch, laying of the hand, and magnetic healing are some of the other
names for it.

The law of self-recovery and the law of Prana, or life energy, are the foundations of pranic
healing.

Law of self-recovery

The body is capable of healing itself at a certain rate in general. A person's body will heal and
recover from a wound or burn within a few days to a week. In other words, the body will repair
or heal itself even if antibiotics are not applied to the wound or burn.

Law of Prana

Prana, chi, or life energy is required for life to exist. Increased life energy on the affected part(s)
and throughout the body can speed up the healing process.

Electrical energy is sometimes used as a catalyst in chemistry to speed up the rate of chemical
reactions. Prana, or life energy, is used in Pranic Healing to accelerate the rate of biochemical
reactions involved in the body's natural healing process. The rate of recovery or healing
increases dramatically when Pranic energy is applied to the affected part of the body.

What we refer to as miraculous healing is simply a faster rate of self-recovery for the body.
Pranic healing is not supernatural or paranormal in any way. It's just based on natural laws that
the majority of people aren't aware of.
Note:

"Pranic Healing is not intended to replace orthodox medicine, but rather to complement it. If
symptoms persist or the ailment is severe, please consult immediately a Medical Doctor and a
Certified Pranic Healer." Master Choa Kok Sui

In India Apollo Hospitals have a center for Pranic Healing also.

Pranic healing can be used to Cure or reduce

Simple ailments

* Cold * Fever * Sprain * Stomachache * Other physical disorders

Chronic physical ailments

* Diabetes, Cancer * Arthritis, Spondylitis * Sexual disorder * Respiratory disorders *

Digestive disorders * Urinary disorders * Kidney ailments etc.

Psychological ailments

* Stress, Anxiety, * Fear, Concentration, * Emotional & * Mental problems

Addictions

* Addiction * Hallucinations

Pranic healers are educated using techniques like meditation and yoga.

Pranic healing students go through four levels of training.

1. Learn to absorb Prana and become sensitive to it with their hands.

2. Cleanse and energies the body's energy before projecting it.

3. How to heal psychological ailments with color Pranas

4. Focus Prana with crystals.

Techniques of Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing employs three main techniques:

1. Scanning - Does a healer need to be able to see energy in order to determine the source of
an auric field energy imbalance?

It is done with the hands using a technique called 'Scanning.'

Because your hands have their own energy, they can 'tune in' and ‘scan' any other energy field.

It enables a healer to locate areas of energy blockage in the body and aura, as well as the sources
of any disease.

Cleaning - Once the problem area has been identified through ‘scanning,' the old blocked
energy that is causing disease must be removed in order for the body to heal itself.

Energizing - Once an area has been thoroughly cleansed, healthy Prana can be used to energies
it.

By cleansing the aura, chakra, or organ before energizing, the amount of energy required to
heal the disease is reduced, as is the risk of a "healing crisis," which occurs when symptoms
worsen.

Many people believe that every treatment includes a healing crisis, but if cleansing is done
properly, there is no need to go through these symptoms.

The techniques taught in Pranic Healing ensure that the healer does not project their own energy
onto the patient, as this will quickly lead to fatigue and exhaustion!

To avoid Pranic weakening, healers are taught to draw in and use Prana from their
surroundings.

These simple but extremely effective techniques can be used in any situation. Because
everything in the world is made up of energy, any organ, chakra, or business can be scanned,
cleansed, and energized.
Techniques and teachings are globally standardized and regulated.

This ensures that the teachings are of high quality.

Scanning is a diagnostic technique that allows you to sense the aura and chakras and assess
problem areas that need to be healed.

Cleansing techniques provide the patient with the greatest benefit of new energy while avoiding
the risks of energizing a polluted aura.

In many cases, simply using cleansing techniques provides relief from the symptoms and
causes of the illness.

Treatments are tailored to the ailment, resulting in fast and effective results.

The treatments have been tested and proven to produce consistent and repeatable outcomes.

One can treat very complex ailments safely from the start by following the simple instructions
and treatment protocols detailed in the books.

The healer's own personal energy is not used in energizing techniques.

We are surrounded by a sea of prana, or life force.

Pranic Healing teaches how to access this energy and direct it toward the patient.

As a result, rather than feeling drained after a treatment, the healer feels energized.

This is how Pranic Healers are able to treat dozens of patients in a single day without becoming
exhausted.

Your personal energy tank is kept clean and full by a practice known as "energetic hygiene,"
which is rarely found in any healing modality.

This is a set of simple practices that keep the healer topped up, strong, and unconnected.

The application of color energies to specific chakras and body areas dramatically accelerates
the body's natural healing abilities.

The application of color prana yields remarkably quick and effective results.

The techniques have been studied and systematized for more than 20 years and have been fine-
tuned to the point where they can be learned in a weekend and you can begin healing safely
and confidently on the first day of instruction.
The methods produce results that are consistent and repeatable. It's something that anyone can
do.

More about Techniques

The Endocrine System, Skeletal System, and Nervous System are all affected by the 11 chakras
recognized by Pranic Healing techniques.

The Tree of Life is their name.

Figure 5.7 11 Chakras

1. Energy Chakras

Chakras are energy centers found in the palms of your hands. These chakras are activated to
become sensitive to feeling energy fields through a simple exercise.

You can scan that energy field for blockages and then use new Prana to cleanse, energies, and
revitalize the area.

You'll also learn how to stop your body from losing energy while working on others, which
many health practitioners do. While you're healing someone else, you'll actually be energizing
yourself!

2. Pranic psychotherapy

The healer here uses advanced energetic extraction techniques on the affected chakras to
quickly cure phobias, compulsions, and addictions.

3. Color Pranic Healings:

You can focus color energies to the receiver to produce accelerated healing by using the will
and special visualization skills taught in this course. For the best results, most severe illnesses
necessitate the use of qualified Color Pranic Energies. It's like going to a specialist instead of
a general practitioner when you use Color Prana.

4. Pranic Crystal Healing

Use the power of Mother Earth's precious gifts to your advantage. Use Crystal Power to
improve your healing, spirituality, and financial well-being.

5. Psychic Self Defense

Psychic attacks, negative intentions, malicious entities, and energetic pollution are all threats
to you and your loved ones.

We are surrounded by a sea of negative emotions and thoughts that can harm us subtly. This
course will teach you how to use Pranic Energies in different dimensions to protect yourself,
your belongings, your environment, and your loved ones in a scientific way.

5.4 ACUPRESSURE

Acupressure, like acupuncture, works by clearing blocked energy channels, also known as
meridians, through specific points on the body to restore the natural flow of life force, or Qi.
The tools used in the two practices are what distinguishes them. Rather than piercing the skin
with needles to clear blocked channels, acupressure practitioners apply pressure with their
fingers, palms, elbows, and other body parts.

Acupressure originated in ancient China. It showed superior therapeutic potential against

numerous disease conditions. Acupressure is a type of acupuncture. Both acupressure and
acupuncture are based on same fundamental principle of acupoints activation across the
meridians.

Principles and Applications

Although acupressure does not directly access the channels, it can produce similar results. By
relieving muscle tension and promoting blood circulation, the pressure can help the body's
natural ability to heal itself. The body can better heal itself if it has more oxygen. Endorphins,
which help to block pain, may be released as a result of the therapy.

It's an ancient Oriental healing system based on the perception of a network of 12 meridians
(channels) through which energy or vital forces pass through the body.
When the vital force or energy flow is interrupted or blocked, the body becomes sick. Qi, Chi,
and Ki are all terms used to describe this energy. Pressure is applied to specific points in this
therapy to help ease and balance the Qi.

In below chart, these meridians and power points can be seen. As a matter of fact there are over
600 pressure points in total. Each point in the graph has a name and a location.

This chart, as well as information on acupressure techniques, can be found in Baba Ramdevji's
Yog Sadhana and Yog Chikitsa Rahasya book. This method is also used in modern yog for
healing.

Figure 5.8 12 Meridians

Healing Systems based on these points

Acupuncture is a type of treatment in which needles are used to energies a specific point.

That's a more involved method that's outside the scope of this hobby article.

Applying gentle pressure with the hand or massaging the same points is acupressure. It is easier
to learn and practice because it is gentler. It's also referred to as Chinese massage.

Shiatsu is a type of acupressure massage that originated in Japan.

Reflexology and Sujok are two types of systems that believe that all of the important points in
the hands and feet are located there, and that they can be used to heal.

Acupressure can help with a variety of painful conditions, including migraines and sports
injuries.

The Commonly Used Techniques

Pressing, kneading, rubbing, pushing, scrubbing, grasping, patting, rub rolling, and wiping are
some of the most common techniques.

Use the self-help technique that feels most comfortable to you.

The intensity of pain will indicate the relevant point.

Whatever massage technique is used, the pain should be reduced to a manageable level. STOP
if it does not get better soon

Some Points about Acupressure

To lubricate and protect the skin, use massage oil or talcum powder.

Trim your nails if necessary.

Every treatment should be gentle as a home remedy. Stop if it's making you feel uneasy.

Acupressure is not effective in the treatment of severe heart disease, mental illness, cancer, or
acute infectious diseases.

Do Not

After a strenuous workout, practice.

Practice on an empty stomach or a full stomach.

If you're extremely weak or recovering from a serious illness, practice.

Practice on open wounds or skin conditions like dermatitis, burns, bruises, and scalds.

If you have a new injury that is swollen or hot to the touch, massage it.

Apply acupressure to the area of the hip where an artificial joint is installed.

Women who are menstruating or pregnant should massage their abdomens or lower backs.

In people with epilepsy or high blood pressure, apply pressure to specific areas of the head.

How it works?

Endorphins are thought to be released more readily when active points are stimulated.

Endorphin is a painkiller that is produced naturally in the body. As a result, endorphins released
by acupressure stimulation may result in muscle relaxation, stress relief, and normalization of
body functions.

A general health assessment is usually performed by the therapist before treatment begins.

This entails gathering medical information from the patient's family and discussing the patient's
physical and emotional well-being.

A diagnostic examination is usually performed by palpating the abdomen or back for any
energy imbalances present in other parts of the body.

Typically, people receive therapy while lying down on a massage table or while sitting up. The
massage is done through the clothes, so no undressing is required.

Thumbs are commonly used to apply pressure, but other body parts such as fingertips, palms,
knuckles, elbows, and knees may also be used—some therapists even use their feet.
Sustained pressure (lasting up to 10 seconds at a time), squeezing, and stretching exercises are
common. It could also include rocking motions and gentle holding. The duration of a treatment
session can range from 30 to 90 minutes.

When pressing points have no effect on you, there are a few things you can do.

It's possible that this is the case.

It's possible that you're not pressing on the correct acupuncture point.

You'll have to be precise because they're about 0.5 mm in diameter). Attempt something new.

Try different spots around the location you first tried.

You shouldn't press too hard, but you also shouldn't hurt yourself.

Also, don't just press the button for a few seconds.

Some people may experience soreness at the points after an acupressure session. People may
also feel dizzy for a short period of time.

Research

The effects have been studied in a variety of ways. Here are a few of them:

1. In most cases, whether natural or drug-induced, it helps to relieve nausea.

2.Assists seniors with insomnia (according to a study published in the Journals of Gerontology
in 1999).

3. A study published in 1996 looked into the use of acupressure in the treatment of
postoperative pain. With acupressure, the control group of knee surgery patients experienced
less pain.

4. It could help people who have had a stroke. When combined with other treatments, the results
of at least one study (which did not include a control group) suggest that it may be useful during
stroke rehabilitation.

5. It aids in the recovery of general body imbalances.

5.5 SILVA METHOD

Origin

'The Silva Method,' founded in 1960 in the small Texas town of Laredo by self-taught
parapsychologist Jose Silva, was created to help students develop intuition, higher states of
consciousness, and healing abilities. In 1944, Jose Silva, the Silva Method's creator, began his
research into the secrets of the human mind and brain waves. His research proved that mental
control of alpha waves could increase IQ. This led him to a completely new area of interest.
From a medical standpoint, Psycho Neuro Immunology is used (PNI). The Silva Method is
where many of today's mind-enhancement groups got their start. Alpha brain wave activity has
since been linked to inner levels of mental activity, tranquillity, rest, inspiration, accelerated
healing, creativity, intuition, learning, and memory, according to independent scientific studies.
Jose's mind-training programme is equally effective for adults as it is for children.

Principles and Applications

Most of us only make use of a small portion of our mind's potential. The Silva Method's goal
is to help you unleash the full potential of your brain. As per Silvas’ method Gaining access to
the alpha level of brain frequency — that is, a frequency of between 7 and 14 pulsations per
second, or about half the normal rate — is the key to accomplishing this. When you lower your
brain frequency to alpha, you gain access to mental abilities that were previously
uncontrollable. You learn to harness the power of your right hemisphere to achieve your
objectives in all aspects of your life. To enter into Alpha level there is a relaxation exercise
suggested.

Figure 5.9 Brain Frequencies

The method guides to make Positive affirmations(Examples are given below)when one is in
Alpha State, as the said exercise helps in improving one’s mental capabilities and bring
desirable transformations.

1. The difference between genius and lay mentality is that geniuses use their minds more
extensively and in a unique way. I'm now learning to make better use of my mind and to do so
in a unique way.

2. I'm improving my mental abilities in order to better serve humanity.

3. I'm getting better, better, better every day in every way.

4. Positive thoughts provide me with the advantages and benefits I desire.

5. At this level of the mind, as well as any other level, including the outer conscious levels, I
have complete control and dominion over my sensing faculties. This is correct.

6. I will always keep my body and mind in perfect condition.

The procedures for deep physical and mental relaxation that enable you to arrive at the alpha
level is given below:

The Five-to-One Method

5. Look at a point on the wall about 45 degrees above the horizontal with your eyes open.
Repeat the number 5 in your mind and visualise it several times.

4. Close your eyes and repeat and visualise the number 4 several times in your mind.

3. Mentally repeat and visualise the number 3 several times as you gradually relax different
parts of your body.

2. Mentally repeat and visualise the number 2 several times as you visualise passive scenes.

1. Visualize and mentally repeat the number 1 several times. You've progressed to level one,
the alpha level.

The Three-to-One Method is a technique for reducing the number of people in a

Close your eyes and sit in a comfortable position.

3. Take a deep breath and mentally repeat and visualise the number 3 three times as you exhale.

2. Take a deep breath and mentally repeat and visualise the number 2 three times as you exhale.
1. Take a deep breath and mentally repeat and visualise the number 1 three times as you exhale.
You've progressed to level one, the alpha level.

Figure 5.10 The Mental Screen

Have you ever noticed how some people look upward when they are asked a question, as if the
answer is on the ceiling or in the sky? This is a natural eye movement that causes the mind to
perceive information in an extrasensory, or direct, manner.

Light from a stimulus enters the eye, is focused by the lens, and sent to the brain via the retina
in the top part of the diagram. The brain is triggered to sense directly by turning the eyes upward
at a 20-degree angle, as shown in the lower portion of the diagram.

The Three-Fingers Technique

The Three-Fingers Technique is a mental method for solving problems and achieving
objectives. You can adjust your mind to a deeper level of awareness by bringing the tips of
your first two fingers and the thumb of either hand together. It's a method of triggering alpha
instantly. This technique can be used to activate a desired response that you have programmed
at your alpha level.
How to Communicate Subjectively using Silva Method

To succeed, you must first follow two rules:

1. You must forgive and love the person, or at the very least feel a genuine connection with
them.

2. You must propose a mutually beneficial solution to your mutual problem. To put it another
way, "talk" in terms of what is right rather than who is right.

Here are the steps to follow:

1. Use the 3-to-1 method to get to your alpha level.

2. Visualize or imagine the person or people you want to communicate with.

3. Talk to him/her/them in your head about the problem you're trying to solve, keeping in mind
the two rules listed above.

4. Finish your session with a 1-to-5 countdown, feeling more alert and energised than before.

Dream Control

To order a dream to solve a problem, follow these steps:

If you can't remember your dreams, there are two steps you must take before you can use Dream
Control. Keep a pencil and paper handy at all times.

1. Before going to sleep, use the 3-to-1 method to get to your alpha level. "I want to remember
a dream, and I will remember a dream," tell yourself. From your alpha level, go to sleep.

2. Only proceed to step 2 after you have satisfactorily completed step 1. It's the same as step 1,
except you'll use the word "dreams" instead of "a dream" wherever it appears.

3. When you've satisfied step 2 above, you're ready to ask for a dream with information to help
you solve a problem. "I want to have a dream that will contain information to solve the problem
I have in mind," say at your alpha level this time. (Create a mental image of the problem.) "I'll
have a dream like this, remember it, and comprehend it." From your alpha level, go to sleep.
This is the dream you will have. Make a note of it.
The Glass-of-Water Method

Fill a glass with water before retiring. Close your eyes for a moment. Increase the volume
slightly and drink half of the water, telling yourself, "This is all I have to do to solve the problem
I'm thinking about." Identify the issue. Retire. When you wake up, drink the remaining water
in the same manner, eyes closed, turned up, and mentally repeating the statement.

Memory Pegs

Memory Pegs are a set of standard objects that can be used to quickly and easily recall a list of
items.

You don't have to be at alpha to use these Memory Pegs. Simply draw a picture of the object
you want to remember and connect it to the Peg in some logical way. If you want to remember
the object later, look at the Peg, and you should be able to recall it.

Awake Control

When you're on the job or on the road and you're feeling drowsy or sleepy, use the Silva Method
formula-type technique to stay awake. If you're driving, pull over to the side of the road and
turn off the engine.

1. To get to your alpha level, use the 3-to-1 method.

2. Tell yourself at a low level, "I am tired and sleepy." I don't want to be tired and sleepy;
instead, I want to be fully awake, feeling great, and in excellent health. I'll start counting from
1 to 5. I'll open my eyes at the count of five, wide awake, feeling fine, and in perfect health. I
will not be sleepy or drowsy. I'm going to be wide awake."

3. Count from 1 to 5, pausing at 3 to remind yourself, "At the count of 5, I will open my eyes,
feel fine, and be in perfect health."

4. Mentally tell yourself, "I am wide awake, feeling fine, and in perfect health, feeling better
than before," while counting to five. This is correct.

Pain Control

Objective Procedure:

1. Indicate the location of the discomfort.

2. Figure out what kind of container it would work best in.

3. What colour is the discomfort?

4. Visualize yourself tasting it. What's it like to eat it?

5. Can you tell me what it smells like?

6. If necessary, repeat these steps several times.

Subjective Procedure

The 3-to-1 method will get you to your alpha level. Submerge your weaker hand in an
imaginary bucket of ice cold water and hold it there until it becomes numb. Then, mentally
transfer the numbness by placing the numb hand over the painful area. Replay the section of
Session Eight audio that contains this procedure for practise.

Stress Control

Go to your alpha level with the 3-to-1 method for general stress management. Stay there for a
few moments. Your session has come to an end.To change stressful behaviours or attitudes,
use positive mental pictures or positive verbal affirmations at your alpha level for specific
stressors.

The Mirror of the Mind

1. Use the 3-to-1 method to get to your alpha level.

2. Use your mental screen as a full-length mirror. The frame is blue.

3. Look in the blue-framed mirror at the problem situation.

Make a quick assessment of the situation.

4. Shift the mirror to the left slightly and paint the frame white.

5. Look in the white-framed mirror for the solution or the goal you want to achieve.

6. Count from 1 to 5 to end your session.

7. Think of the problem as the solution framed in white from now on whenever you think of it.

Habit Control

In all cases, first go to the alpha level and analyze the habit. Then, at alpha...

Overeating:

• Write a big red "NO" on every food suspected of being the source of the problem.

• Eat a piece of carrot, celery, or apple, or take deep breaths, to train your body to forget about
hunger between meals.

• Make a habit of leaving something on your plate.

• Teach yourself that dessert isn't always necessary.

• Look at yourself in the Mirror of the Mind, first in the blue-framed mirror, then in the white-
framed mirror, showing your weight, clothing size, and so on.

Smoking:

• Pick a time during the day to smoke your first cigarette. Set a timer for one hour later to smoke
it. When it's working, repeat the process an hour later. Stopping will be simple in the near
future.

• Alternatively, schedule one cigarette every hour on the hour, then only on the even hours. It
will then be much easier to come to a complete stop.

• Train yourself to take three deep breaths every time you feel the urge to smoke.

• Set a date in your calendar for quitting smoking in 30 days.

Every day, reinforce. "I will quit smoking on this day and never smoke again in my life," tell
yourself.

Creating Your Mental Laboratory

It is suggested that you create your mental laboratory over the course of three sessions. To
begin each session, use the 3-to-1 method to enter your level, followed by a 10-to-1 countdown.
Session 1

1. Construct a room with four walls, a ceiling, and a floor in a familiar location.

2. Decorate the room however you want but leave the south wall unfinished.

3. Make a chair, a desk, a calendar, and a timepiece.

4. Create a file cabinet that contains all of the information about men that exists now and will
ever exist. Then make a second file cabinet with the same type of women's information.

5. Set up all of the tools and equipment that have existed or will exist in the future. Apply the
same logic to chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

6. Place all of these instruments' controls on the armrest of your chair.

Session 2

1. Mount your mental screen against the south wall.

2. Make a door that you can open and close from your chair.

Session 3

1. Think carefully about who you want to be your counsellor.

2. As you sit at your desk, imagine yourself as your counsellor.

Assume he or she is standing outside the door you've built.

3. Now, invite him or her into your laboratory in your mind.

4. Begin using the 3-to-1 method whenever you enter your laboratory from now on; greet your
counsellor and say a welcoming prayer.

5. Thank your counsellor, say a farewell prayer, and come out 1-to-10, 1-to-5 to end your
session now and in the future.

Using Your Laboratory for Healing

1. Use the 3-to-1, 10-to-1 method in your laboratory.

2. Say a welcoming prayer and greet your counsellor.

3. Visualize yourself or the sick person in front of your mind's eye.

4. Scanning the body from top to bottom, pick three areas that catch your eye.

Scrutinize these areas, paying special attention to the one that feels most important to you.
5. Allow your imagination or guessing abilities to solve the problem.

6. Use your hands, tools, and medications to solve the problem. Make your final image of a
flawless body.

7. Say a farewell prayer, thank your counsellor, and exit, 1-to-10 and 1-to-5.

Visualization to Provide Subjective (Right Brain) Points of Reference

Take a mental trip once or twice a day to reach your alpha level using the 3-to-1 method and
embrace your psychic, creative, and intuitive abilities. Here are a few examples of what you
could do:

1. Visualize fruits and vegetables that you are familiar with. Take a whiff and a bite of them.

2. Imagine yourself in a flower garden. Take note of the colours. Smell the various flowers.

3. Visualize a cat or dog as a pet. Imagine being able to peer inside this animal. How do the
organs appear?

4. Visualize a person who is easily remembered. Assume you have access to the inside of this
person's body. Examine the internal organs. Make the heart transparent so that you can see how
it works. Then look at the kidneys, stomach, and other organs.

“Living Room South Wall” Exercise to Set Up Subjective (Right Brain) Points of
Reference

1. Use the 3-to-1 method to get to your alpha level.

2. Visualize yourself entering your home or apartment through the front door.

3. Push the door open. Enter. Close the door behind you. Go to the centre of your living room
and face the south wall.

4. Scanning the south wall, starting at the top and working your way down, a little lower each
time until you reach the ground level, as if reading a book.

5. Alter the wall's colour several times — red, black, blue, green, blue, black, red, and back to
its original color.

6. Get an arm's length away from the wall. How does it feel? Extend your arm and notice how
it feels objectively.

7. Inside the wall, project your intelligence. How does it feel? (Light, temperature, sound,
smell, etc.)
8. Return to the centre of the room, facing the south wall, and exit the wall.

9. Exit your living room through the front door you entered through.

10. End your session 1-to-5, feeling wide awake.

How to Use the Silva Method to Continue Your Self Transformation

1. Participate in the Silva Training for four days. See the last page of this workbook for more
information.

2. Read Silva books but put the books down and complete the exercises.

3. Counting backwards each morning for 40 days is an alpha reinforcing procedure. Close your
eyes and count down from 100 to one while propped up on your pillow. Do this for ten
mornings, then 50 to one for ten mornings, 25 to one for ten mornings, and 10 to one for ten
mornings. You can either use the 10-to-1 method or the standard 3-to-1 method to reach your
alpha level. Come out in groups of one to five.

4. Use the progressive relaxation method used in Session Three to occasionally deepen your
level.

5. Every day, work on improving one or more relationships through forgiveness and subjective
communication.

Daily Tools

1. Every morning, go to alpha and visualise yourself having a perfect day.

2. Every night, put your family on your mental radar. Harmony and health are the goals of this
programme.

3. When you need to function with more awareness, put your three fingers together.

4. Solve problems using the Glass-of-Water Technique and Dream Control.

5. Use the Mirror of the Mind to achieve your objectives.

Programming for a Better World

1. Observe diplomats and statesmen communicating in a subjective manner.

2. Observe doctors and psychics working together.

3. Educators are becoming more aware of the right hemisphere of the brain.

4. Observe a decrease in crime and empty prisons.

5. Witness the end of the famine

Benefits of Silva Method

The Silva method is based on teaching people to listen to their bodies and control them with
their minds. The Silva method teaches the following abilities:

• Both the body and the mind are deeply relaxed.

• Immediately begin meditating, either with your eyes closed or open.

• Going to sleep in one minute is a cure for insomnia.

• Silva practitioners are able to ignore the intermediate pain and can have cavities filled
or colonoscopies performed without anaesthetics.

• Controlling blood flow leads to primitive temperature control –'sending heat' to hands
or other parts of the body. This can also be used at a higher level to reduce blood flow
to moderate cuts.

• Mental and emotional problems are self-diagnosed.

• Past events are replayed in the mind (useful for finding dropped keys, etc.).

• Intuitive awareness of one's subconscious sides (useful for overcoming blockages).

• Intuitive understanding of others' subconscious sides.

• Idea generation and brainstorming

• Controlling the energy level.

• Physical problems are self-diagnosed.

• Self-healing rates are increased through visualisation and the application of hands.

• Others' healing rates are improving.

• Increasing the healing rates of others from a distance.

• Viewing from afar.

• Empathic telepathy is a type of telepathy that allows people to communicate with one

As you can see, the Silva method of meditation has a wide range of benefits, including telepathy
and relaxation of the mind and body. Controlling pain is another significant benefit of using
the Silva method of meditation. Chronic pain is a common ailment, and this method can help
you learn to manage it. When it comes to common complaints, the Silva method of meditation
can also help with insomnia.

5.6 SUMMARY

• Sujok is a drug-free system that manipulates energy points using acupuncture and
acupressure. All of the active points in the body are represented by the palms and feet in Sujok.
Prof. Park Jae Woo demonstrated our body's correspondence system in our hands and feet.

• Sujok Therapy combines traditional oriental medicine's best practises and terminology. It's a
non-medicinal, immediate, and effective healing therapy that's completely safe and has no
negative side effects. Sujok can be used to treat and prevent diseases on all levels, including
physical, mental, and emotional.

• In Pranic Healing, healing is both an art and a science.

•Pranic Healing works on the energy body, or aura, which then has an effect on the physical
body.

• Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui created and developed Pranic Healing, a no-touch energy healing
system that is simple yet powerful and effective.

• Pranic Healing is a clear and direct way to understand and experience the world of auras,
chakras, Prana, chi, and psychic phenomena.

• The foundations of pranic healing are the law of self-recovery and the law of Prana, or life
energy.

• Acupressure, like acupuncture, restores the natural flow of life force, or Qi, by clearing
blocked energy channels, also known as meridians, through specific points on the body.

• The tools used in the two practises are the ones that set them apart. Hands are used in
acupressure, and special instruments are used in acupuncture.

• Acupressure is a type of acupuncture in which pressure is applied to specific points to help

ease and balance the Qi.

• Rather than piercing the skin with needles to clear blocked channels, acupressure practitioners
use their fingers, palms, elbows, and other body parts.
•Jose Silva, a self-taught parapsychologist, founded 'The Silva Method' in 1960 in the small
Texas town of Laredo to help students develop intuition, higher states of consciousness, and
healing abilities.

•The Silva Method's creator, Jose Silva, began his research into the secrets of the human mind
and brain waves in 1944.

• Many of today's mind-enhancement groups got their start with the Silva Method.

• Independent scientific studies have linked alpha brain wave activity to inner levels of mental
activity, tranquillity, rest, inspiration, accelerated healing, creativity, intuition, learning, and
memory.

• Jose's mind-training programme works just as well for adults as it does for kids.
