THE CONSTITUTION OF THE ESHIRERA PROGRESSIVE GROUP
1. Name
The name of the group shall be” the eshirera progressive group”

3.Area Of Operation
The group shall operate within lusheya/ Lubinu ward
4.Objectives
a)promote unity among members and create a forum for conflict resolution
b)offer material/financial support to members in times of
calamities(funeral),wedings and sickness
5.Group Activities
A)Small Scale Investments
B)Poultry Farming
c)Horticultural Farming
d)Joining hands in times of calamities to overcome the problem
e)Raising funds to the group, borrowing at fair and reasonable INTEREST
RATESTO MEMBERS
f)Giving to youthful members ideas that can make them self reliant and responsible
6.The Group Account
The group shall open and maintain one bank account at “co-operative bank”
The signatories shall be the chairman, treasurer and secretary.
7.Membership
a)Membership Eligibility
For one to become a member:
i) Must be above 18 years old and above
ii) Be from the eshirera lineage or family
iii)Be Of Sound Mind
iv)Be ready to adhere to the group rules and regulations
v) Must have paid members registration fee of sh 200.
Membership to be Renewed Annually upon payment ofsh 100
Abakoko to register by paying sh 1,000
b) Membership withdrawal
Any member wishing to withdraw from the group should;
i) Give a notice of two months
Ii)Forfeit 30% of his saving (shares)
iii) Settle all his debts with the group
c) Suspension of a member
The executive committee shall give a proposal to the general comitte to suspend a
member who is
i) Unruly and uncontrollably arrogant
Ii) Chronically absent himself or herself without apology /reason.
iii) Too much alcoholic during meetings.
iv) Interrupts meetings due to lack of discipline
d) Expulsion of a member
The Executive committee shall present a proposal to general committee to expel a
member who is:
i) Unable to comply with the rules and regulations of the group.
ii) Acting in a manner that prejudices the group interests.
8. The group office bearers
i) They Shall Include
a) Patron
b) Chairman

e) Organizing Secretary
f) Vice Chairman
g) Vice Secretary

i)Protocol Officer
ii)The group shall also have two sub-committees under the main office. Welfare
committee and investment committee.
Welfare committee
To be led by the chairman, secretary and treasurer elected by members
Investment committee
To be led by the chairman, secretary and treasurer elected by members
9) Duties Of Office Bearers
a) Patron
Give Advisory services to the group
b)Chairman
Preside over all the meetings
Suspend members who mis behave in meetings.
Shall be a bank account signatory
c) Treasurer
Manage Finances Of The Group
Maintain Financial Records i.e assets, liabilities, income and expenditure.
Safeguard group money, books of account and receipts.
Shall be a bank account signatory.
d) Secretary
Record minutes during meetings
Ensure correspondences of the group
Assist the treasurer in funds management
Should be a bank account signatory
e)Organizing Secretary
Organize meetings and ensure order in the meetings
This shall be done in consultation with the chairman
f)Vice-Chairman
Perform duties of chairman in his absenture
G)Vice-Secretary
Perform duties of secretary in his absenture
h) Vice-Organizing Secretary
Perform duties of the organizing secretary in his absenture
i)Welfare Sub-Committee
Co-ordinate matters pertaining funerals, weddings, medical bills and welfare
activities of the group.
j) Investment sub-committee
Co-ordinate and manage investments activities of the group.
This should be done in consultation with the main office.
Shall consist officials’ i.e. patron, chairman, secretary and three other elected
members.
Shall be held for specific purposes by order invited by secretary within eight (8)
days from date of requisitions.
b) General meetings
Shall Be held on every 2 nd Sunday of every month rotationally in members’
homes as from 2:00pm.
c) Annual general meetings (AGM)
Shall be held in every December on agreed date
d) Order of meetings
Opening prayer from one member
The chairman to preside over meetings
The chairman to limit and confer members to contribute ideas
The meeting to take a maximum of two hours
c) Attendance
Al Members must attend general meetings
Apology for absenteeism and lateens to be in written
Any lateness to be punishable at a fee of sh 50
Any absenteeism to be punishable at a fee of sh 100
11) Beneficiaries
For a member to qualify support when bereaved, having a wedding or medical
support:
a)He be a registered member
b) Must have up to sh3000 as shares to the group
N/B: The sh 3000 can be paid either in one or several installments.
The member shall be required to be subscribing sh 200 monthly towards welfare
kitty
i) Benefits
Assistance on bereavement
Death of a member
Death of spouse
Death of a parent/parent in laws
Death of a child (if son, must be 18years abd below or school/college
student.
Death of our abakoko,abewa and abakhwe
ii) Weddings
When A Contributing member/Son/Daughter Is Wedding, All Group
Members Automatically Become Committee Members
iii) Medical Support(In-Patient)
The group shall only support to set the medical bill of a member if his
medical cover e.g nhif has been exhausted
N/B:All Members Must Register With NHIF (SHIF).
IV) Graduation Ceremonies
During graduation ceremonies of a member/son/daughter, we shall allow
grace to take the precedence.
