1. Evaluate the following:

4. (a) Express as a single fraction in its lowest form

for 5 weeks and buys a present for her friend which costs $3,80.

(iii) Using a vertical scale of 2cm to represent 1 person, draw a bar graph

(b) At the beginning of a week, a water meter read 23 481. After a week, the meter
read 23 901.

(i) How many units of water were used during the week? [1]

(ii) Calculate the water bill for the week if the water costs $2,51 per unit. [2]

13. (a) A farmer has 60 pigs, 54 cattle and 36 goats.

(i) Find, in its lowest terms, the ratio of


pigs: cattle: goats. [2]

(ii) Express the number of cattle as a percentage of animals on


the farm. [2]

(iii) Ifhe sold

10 pigs at $500 each,


7 cattle at $3 500 each,
8 goats at $280 each,

calculate the total amount he received. [3]

(b) If a ce1iain number of oranges is shared among 7 people, there are 6 oranges left,
if shared among 6 people, there are 5 oranges left and if shared among 5 people,
there are 4 oranges left.

Find the least number of oranges shared. [3]

14. (a) Using ruler and compasses oniy

(i) construct triangle ABC in which AB =9cm,


BC = Scm and AC = 6cm. [2]

(ii) On your diagram, bisect angle ABC. [2]

(iii) Measure and write down the value of angle ACB . [1]
