3-6 micro cycle or weekly cycles. The last micro cycle or weekly cycles of a meso-cycle,
primary aims at recovery and relaxation.
A meso-cycle aims at tackling of definite training tasks as part of the total process of
development of performance capacity or top form. Depending on its position in a macro-cycle
and on the aim of macro-cycle the meso-cycle can have a variety of aims e.g., learning or
perfection of technical skill or skills, improvement of motor abilities, maintenance and
stabilization of performance factors improved in the previous meso-cycle, achievement of top
form or direct preparation for competition, recovery and relaxation and so on.

23. ‘Nutrition’ is defined as the science of food and its relationship to health. In other words, it can be
said that Nutrition is the science of foods which deals with the dynamic process in which the food
consumed is digested, nutrients are absorbed, distributed to the tissues for utilization and wastes are
disposed of the body.

action.
11. Children’s previous experience must be taken into consideration
27. Pre competition: Liquid food can be digested much quicker and absorbed faster. E.g. Fluids like
milkshakes, yogurt/curd, vegetable soups etc.
During competition: Energy drinks help maintain blood volume, regulate body temperature, and
allow muscle contraction. It helps in replacing fluids lost in sweat. During the competition, fluids
help in maintaining muscle glycogen and blood sugar level
Post competition: Protein drinks, Yogurt, fruit juices and water should be taken. It helps in preparing
worn out tissues. It is restoring fluids and Electrolytes lost in sweat and help in refueling the muscle
and liver glycogen

28. The big five factors of personality are the five main domains which define human personality and
account for individual differences. This model offered by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae. The five
personality traits also known as the Five Factor Model of Personality and sometimes referred as
OCEAN. The five domains or traits represented by the acronym OCEAN are Openness,
Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism.
Openness: Persons who like to learn new things, new concepts and enjoy new experiences usually
remain on the top in openness. Openness includes traits like being imaginative, insightful, and having
a variety of interests. People who are high in this trait tend to be more adventurous and creative.
Curious, Imaginative, Intellectual, Creative,
Openness Trait behavior Open to trying new things, focused on tackling new
challenges, Thinks about abstract concepts

(Any one trait)

29. Physiological Factors Determining Endurance
1. Aerobic Capacity: To perform an activity continuously, energy is required by the muscles
which can be supplied in the presence of oxygen. Therefore, the ability of the organism to
maintain the adequate supply of oxygen to the working muscles (i.e. aerobic capacity) for
energy liberation is important for endurance performance. The aerobic capacity depends on the
following factors:
a. Oxygen Intake c. Oxygen Transport
b. Oxygen Uptaked. Energy Reserves
2. Lactic Acid Tolerance: The ability to tolerate the higher concentration of lactic acid is a
significant factor in determining anaerobic capacity. The lactic acid tolerance is important for
activities. It can be improved through training. It can help in improving endurance performance.
3. Movement Economy: The economical movements are significant for endurance performance.
Correct movement is a good technique in endurance sports so, we can save energy.

4. Muscle Composition: There are two basic muscle fibres slow and fast. The slow twitch fibres
are best used for aerobic or endurance activities. They produce small levels of force for long
periods of time and that is why, they are better suited for endurance activities. The percentages
of these fibres are regulated genetically.

30. Osteoporosis: It refers to the decreased bone material contents. It is a skeletal disorder. A reduction
in bone mass may cause fracture. In fact, low oestrogen levels and poor nutrition especially low
calcium intake can lead to osteoporosis which is one of the significant triads of female athlete.
Various factors which usually lead to osteoporosis among women athletes are stated below:
1. Insufficient calcium in diet. The main cause of osteoporosis is intake of insufficient amount of
calcium in diet. In fact, 100mg calcium should be taken in daily diet by a women athlete. In
addition to calcium, vitamin ‘D’ should also take because it is essential for absorbing calcium
in our body.
2. Amenorrhea. Women suffering from menstrual dysfunction or amenorrhea for more than six
months are likely to face osteoporosis because the secretion of the hormone called ‘estrogen’ is
decreased in those women. This hormone is necessary for absorption of calcium in our body. If
calcium is not absorbed in our body, there will be less amount of calcium in our body which
may lead to osteoporosis.
3. Eating disorders. Eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia etc. may also cause osteoporosis
because there can be less amount of calcium intake.
4. Bad eating habits. Various research studies indicate that intake of caffeine, alcohol; tobacco or
smoking etc. may also lead to osteoporosis.

guidance.

(Anyone from the above four asanas)

35. Equilibrium refers to the state of any object when all forces acting upon it result in zero change of
motion for the object. In other words, when the sum of all forces is zero, the object is in a state of
equilibrium. In all activities whether stationary or moving, balance is an important factor. All
activities demand stability and sometimes, instability depends on its purpose.
It is defined as a state of balance or a stable situation, where opposite forces cancel each other out and
where no changes are occurring.
Types of Equilibrium
1. Dynamic Equilibrium: It is the balance of the body during movement.
2. Static Equilibrium: is the balance of the body during its rest or stationary position.
or
Static equilibrium is when the centre of gravity is in a stable position.

Equilibrium

Static Dynamic

Forces are balanced and body is Forces are balanced but body is moving
at rest E.g., – A fan rotating with uniform speed has a net
E.g., – A ball kept on the ground force as zero.

Static Equilibrium Dynamic Equilibrium
1. When the sum of forces acting upon the 1. When all the forces acting on an object are
object and sum of the movement acting balanced, and the body is in motion, then the
upon the body is both equal to zero, then body is said to be in dynamic equilibrium.
the body is said to be in static equilibrium.
2. In other words, Static balance is 2. In other words, dynamic balance is
maintaining equilibrium when stationary. maintaining equilibrium when moving. E.g.
e.g., Yoga jump shot in basketball.
3. E.g., A gymnast performing ‘T’ position 3. E.g., A cycle is moving with uniform
on the balancing beam, because the velocity.
gymnast is not making any movement.

36. Most of the mass and sports are based on the principle of load and rest. The name interval clearly
reflects that the training in this method is done in intervals. In this method, the total work to be
performed is divided into small periods. These periods are performed in interval with certain speed
and rest. This means that a load period is followed by a rest period which is again followed by a load
period like this the whole work is divided.
Load –Rest–Load –Rest –Load–Rest – Load
In this training method, everything is predetermined and is specific the distance to be covered, time
allowed to cover the distance, heart rate, recovery period and number of times it must be performed.
1:1 means load and the rest is equal. E.g. 1-minute exercise followed by 1 minute of rest.
Similarly, 1: 2 means that the period of rest is double of the load e.g. 1-minute exercise followed by 2
minutes of rest.
Slow or extensive interval training methods can be given by using 1:1. In this method:

a. Volume or total distance is 6kms to 12kms

b. Distance in each interval is 300m to 800m.
c. Speed of work is 60% to 80% (of maximum speed)
d. Frequency or number of repetitions: 15 to 25
e. Duration of rest: 1 to 3 min. after each repetition.
f. Heart rate is kept around: 140 – 170 beats per min.
g. Mode of recovery: Walk or slow jogging. (active recovery)
This method is very effective for developing aerobic endurance. In this method the player is made
to work out or run at medium pace whereas the distance is longer or long duration. The rest period
is incomplete before next repetition. This method is generally practiced once or twice in a week.
Generally, players of major games (football, hockey, basketball, etc.) long distance runners, long
distance swimmers’ practice this. Slow interval training method is performed when there are
sufficient days for competition.
Fast or intensive interval training methods can be given by using 1:2. This method is very
effective for developing anaerobic endurance. Load variables for this type of intensive interval
method are:
a. Volume or total distance is 2kms to 5kms
b. Distance in each interval is 80m to 300m.
c. Speed of work is 80% to 100% (of maximum speed)
d. Frequency or number of repetitions: 15 to 25
e. Duration of rest: 1/2 to 2 min. after each repetition.
f. Heart rate: 170 to 200 beat per min.
g. Mode of recovery: Walk or slow jogging. (active recovery)
In this method the player is made to run short distance or workout at high speed. The rest is
incomplete before next repetition. This method is generally practiced 2 to 3 times is a week.

37. Purpose of Rikli and Johns Sr. Citizen Test
Rikli and Jones: Senior Citizen Fitness Test is also known as Fullerton Functional Test of senior
citizens. Purpose of this test is to measure the fitness of old age population.
The Senior Citizen Fitness Test comprises the following tests.
1. Chair Stand Test
The main purpose of this test is to measure the lower body strength, particularly leg strength.
Procedure: Keep the chair against the wall. The participant sits in the middle of the seat. His feet
should be shoulder width apart and flat on the floor. The arms should be crossed at the wrists and
held close to the chest. From the sitting position, the participant stands up completely up then
completely back down at the start of the signal. This is repeated for 30 sec. Count the total no. of
complete chair stands.
2. Arm Curl Test
The Arm Curl Test is a test for upper body strength.
Procedures: The participant sits on the chair, hold the weight in the hand using a suitcase grip. It
means the palms should be facing towards the body. The upper arm should not move but lower arm
should move freely. Curl the arm of through a complete range of motion gradually turning the palm
up. This complete action should be repeated by the participant as many a times as possible within
30 seconds.
3. Chair Sit and Reach Test
The main purpose of this test is to assess the lower body flexibility
Procedure: The participant sits on the edge of the chair. One foot remains flat on the floor while the
other leg should be extended remain forward with the knee straight. Heel should be on the floor and
ankle should be bent at 90°. Place one hand on the top of the other with tips of the middle fingers
even. Keep the knee straight and hold the reach for 2 seconds. The distance is measured between the
tip of the fingertips and the toes. If the fingertips touch the toes, then the score is zero. If they do not
touch, measure the distance between the fingers and the toes (negative score). If they overlap,
measure by how much (positive score).
4. Back Scratch Test
To assess the upper body(shoulder) flexibility.
Procedure: This test is performed in standing position. Keep one hand behind the head and back over
the shoulder and reach as far as possible down middle of your back. Your palm should touch your
body and fingers should be downwards. Then carry your other arm behind your back palm facing
outwards and fingers upwards and reach up as far as possible trying to touch or overlap the middle
fingers of both hands. Fingers should be aligned. Measure the distance between tips of the fingers. If
the fingertips touch, then the score is zero. If they do not touch the distance between the finger’s tips
(negative score).
5. Eight Foot Up and Go Test
To assess speed, agility and balance while moving.
Procedures: Keep a chair next to the wall and the marker, 8 feet in front of the chair. The
participants start completely seated hands resting on the knees and feet flat on the ground. On the
command go stopwatch is started and the participant stands and walks as quickly as possible to and
around cone and returns to the chair to sit down. Time is noted as he sits down on the chair. Two
trials are given to the participant.
6. Six Minute Walk Test
To assist aerobic fitness and endurance
Procedures: The walking distance or course is marked i.e. 50 yards in a rectangle area (45x5 yards or
45.72x4.57 m) with cones placed at regular intervals to indicate the distance covered. Efforts are

SECTION-A
1. True [1]
Explanation : Python doesn't requires variables to be declared explicitly. We can used the variables on a go
i.e. whenever a variable is required we can assign a value to it and use it, it automatically gets declared.
2. (D) [1]
Explanation : Python has teh following built-in data types by default:
Text Types: str
Numeric Types: int, float, complex
Sequence Types: list, tuple, range
Mapping Type: dict
Set Types: set, frozenset
Boolean Type: bool
Binary Types: bytes, bytearray, memoryview
None Type: None
3. (A) [1]
Explanation : Update function is used to add a key; value pair to an existing dictionary.
4. (A) [1]
Explanation : The expression is evaluated according to the operator hierarchy. i.e. first NOT will be evaluated
then AND and then OR.
5. (A) [1]
Explanation : Split function splits the string into a list, where each element is separated by the character
specified or white space (by default). Here the string will be split at every occurrence of 2. Element of the list
will be ["Year", "0", "at All the best"]
6. (B) [1]
Explanation : a, a+, w & w+ modes open an existing file for reading as well as writing, If the file doesn't exist
it is created. r+ mode opens file for reading as well as writing. It generates an error if the file doesn't exist.
7. (C) [1]
Explanation : Any change in the structure of a table is implemented using ALTER.
8. (B) [1]
Explanation : DROP Table command is used to delete a table from the database.
9. (B) [1]
Explanation : Strings in Python are immutable. Once created their value can't be changed in place, so the
statement S[0]='@' will give an error.
10. (B) [1]
Explanation : Primary key of one table acts as a foreign key for some other table. Its value domain is the
primary key attribute of the table of which it is a primary key.

11. (A) [1]
Explanation : seek() is used to place the file pointer at a specific location in the file. For this we need to
specify the number of bytes from the reference point after which the pointer should be placed. The offset can
be 0(beginning), 1(current location) or 2 (EOF).
12. (C) [1]
Explanation : DISTINCT clause in SELECT statement is used to display records without repetition.
DESCRIBE clause is used to display table structure. Unique displays records that have unique values of a field
and null is used to specify null value.
13. (A) [1]
Explanation : VoIP is Voice Over Internet Protocol and is used to transfer audios and videos overs internet.
14. (A) [1]
Explanation : (15.0/4 + (8 + 3.0)) = (15.0/4 + 11.0) = 3.75 + 11.0 = 14.75
15. (C) [1]
Explanation : count () is used to count number of records in a table with a specified criterion * is used to
specify all count(*) will count all the records in a table.
16. (B) [1]
Explanation : connect() is used to establish a connection to mysql server. Database can later be specified
using setdatabase(). So specifying database in connect() is not necessary.
17 (B) [1]
Explanation : File Transfer Protocol (FTP) protocol is used to transfer files over the internet.
18 (B) [1]
Explanation : Gateway network device is closed to connect two network that use different protocols
19. Explanation : Packet Switching technique breaks data into smaller packets for transmission allowing multiple
packets to share the same network resources. [1]
20. (C) [1]
Explanation : During a function call, the argument list first contains positional argument(s). Default
argument(s) are not specified during the function call as their default value is taken up.
21. (A) [1]
Explanation : Since all the data is arranged separated by a comma and each record takes up a new line such
files are called csv files.
