Water Level

Indicator Using
BJT
This presentation explores a simple electronics project for liquid level
monitoring using BJTs.

Introduction
Water level indicators are essential for efficient water management. This
project utilizes BJTs to detect and display water levels in a tank. It is cost-
effective, simple, and easy to implement.

1 Water Management 2 BJT Application

Water level indicators help This project uses BJTs to
monitor and manage water detect and display water
usage efficiently. levels in a tank.

3 Project Benefits
It is cost-effective, simple, and easy to implement.
Project Objective
The objective is to design and build a water level indicator using BJTs to
monitor and display water levels at various stages.

Design Build
Design a water level indicator Construct the water level
using BJTs. indicator circuit.

Monitor
Monitor and display water levels at different stages.
Working Principle
BJTs act as electronic switches, turning on and off based on the water
level. When water touches the probe, it completes the circuit, turning on
the corresponding BJT and lighting up an LED. The higher the water level,
the more LEDs light up.

Water Contact
1 Water touches the probe, completing the circuit.

BJT Activation
2 The BJT switches ON, allowing current to flow.

LED Illumination
3 The corresponding LED lights up, indicating the water level.
Circuit Diagram
The circuit diagram shows the components: BJTs, resistors, LEDs, power
supply, and water probes.

Component Function

BJTs Act as electronic switches

Resistors Limit current flow

LEDs Indicate water levels

Power Supply Provide power to the circuit

Water Probes Detect water levels

Components Required
The project requires BJTs, resistors, LEDs, a power supply, wires, probes, and a breadboard or PCB.

BJTs Resistors LEDs

BC547 or similar 1kΩ 3-5, depending on water levels

Circuit Design and
Assembly
The circuit is assembled on a breadboard or PCB. Place BJTs, connect
resistors to their bases, connect LEDs to the collector terminals, and
attach probes to the water tank.

1 Step 1
Place BJTs on the breadboard.

2 Step 2
Connect resistors to the base of each BJT.

3 Step 3
Connect LEDs to the collector terminals.

4 Step 4
Attach probes to the water tank and connect to the base of
BJTs.
Working Explanation
When water reaches a probe, it completes the circuit, turning on the BJT
and illuminating the corresponding LED. Each level of water lights up a
different LED, indicating the water level.

Water Level

Circuit Completion
The circuit is completed.

LED Illumination
The corresponding LED lights up.
