ZAKAT Q/ANS

Q1: What is Zakat? How has the Quran shown us the importance of zakat?

Ans : Zakat is one of the most important pillars of islam. The word zakat
means purification. It is a charity which Compulsory for all adult and free
Muslims who have a minimum of wealth . This minimum amount is called
Nisab, which is fixed every year according to inflation

After salat, giving Zakat is the most important obligation of Muslims. The
Qur'an has ordered the payment of Zakat in several places and has
emphasized importance of Zakat along with the offering of the five daily
prayers. The Quran says:

"So establish regular prayer and give Zakat, and hold fast to Allah. He is your
protector- the best to protect and the best to help’’. (Surah Al Hajj, 22:78)

Q2: How does Zakat benifit the society?

A2. Islam gives great importance to helping the poor and the needy. Zakat is
a way of ensuring that the rich do not forget the needs of the less fortunate
in a society and that it is their duty to help and take care of the poor. Zakat
builds a considerate and sympathetic society where wealth does not selfishly
get collected only in the hands of a few but is shared by the needy as well it
ensures a prosperous and more equitable economy.

Q3: What is Sadqa? Explain it's importance in the light of Hadith?

Ans: Sadqa is a voluntary charity. It is an act of giving out of compassion,


love and generosity.

The Prophet said.

“ Even meeting your brother with a cheerful Face is charity.’’

He (S.AW) also said ; “Charity is a necessity for every Muslim.’’

He was asked: "What if a person has nothing? The Prophet replied "He should
work with his own hands for his benefit and then give something out of such
earnings in charity.

Q4: What kind of wealth is Zakat payable upon? What is the rate?

Ans: Zakat is payable not only on cash, but also on gold, silver and some
possessions like the raw material used in manufacturing of industrial goods.
The wealth must be the property of the person for a period of at least one
year before Zakat becomes compulsory on it. The rate of zakat is 2.5% on
cash ,gold ,or silver . Other kinds of wealth or belongings like cattle, harvest,
etc have other rates.

Q5: Explain

1: to whom Zakat can be given.

A: Zakat is the duty of all wealthy Muslims towards the poor and it is the
right of deserving Muslims. Zakat can be given to people end for the reasons
as specified in Surah Tauba verse 60:

 The poor and the needy


 To free captive
 To help debtors pay their debts (if they cannot afford)
 To the travellers.
 To the cause of Allah
 To those who collect Zakat

2: To whom Zakat cannot be given:

A. Non-muslims and directly dependent relatives, like one children and


parents are not entitled to zakat.

Q6 : What is ‘Nisab’?

Ao: Zakat is a charity which is compulsory for all adults and free Muslims who
have a minimum amount is called

‘Nisab’, which is fixed every year according to inflation .

The Farewell Hajj and the Address of Hazrat Muhammad

Q1: Where is the mount of mercy situated?
Ans: Mount Arafat, also known as Jabal ar-Rahmah
(Mountain of Mercy), is a small hill located near Makkah,
Saudi Arabia. It is approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles)
southeast of Makkah.
Q2: Where did the Holy prophet give his last address?
Ans: The Last Sermon Of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.)
was delivered on the Ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah, 10 A.H.
( 623AD) in the Uranah valley of Mount Arafat in
Makkah .It was the occasion of annual rites of Haj.
Q3: What is the farewell pilgrimage of the Prophet?
Ans: The Farewell Pilgrimageof the Prophet is called Hajjat
ul Wida.
Q4: When did Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) start his journey
for the farewell hajj.
Ans: Hazrat Muhammad started his journey on 25th Ziq’ad
AH10, along with 124,000 Muslims. Before they could
depart, the Muslims were explained the essentials of the
Hajj by Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) Just before they arrived
in Makkah, the pilgrims put on their ihrams. Chanting the
talbiyah, they reached Makkah on 4th Zil- Hajjah.
On 9th Zil-Hajjah, when all Muslims had gathered in Arafat,
Hazrat Muhammad gave his last Khutba from Jabl-e-
Rehmat or the Mount of Mercy.
Q5: What was the farewell message of the Prophet
Muhammad?
Ans: “I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the
Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go wrong .
‘all those who are present here should convey my words
to those who are not here.’

Q6: What are the main points of the last sermon of the Holy
Prophet?

Ans: 5 lessons for the farewell sermon:

1. “Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you.” This is a powerful


way to start the sermon.
2. Keeping away from usury. ...
3. Beware of Satan, do not allow him to make you do big or small
sins.
4. worship Allah, say your 5 daily prayer, fast in the month of
Ramadan ,give Zakat and perform Hajj if you can afford it.
5. Treating women well.
