 Vocational scenario

You work as a Junior Web Developer at an independent web-developing company,

WebSpace, that helps big and small organisations build their brand through innovative,
clean, and easy to use websites with enhanced accessibility features. WebSpace specialises
in developing custom-built websites to suit the unique needs and preferences of a business.
They build engaging websites, factoring in the type of business and the industry of
operation, demographics, the available budget, maintenance cost, and the short- and long-
term objectives and goals of the client.
Your team’s main duty is to design and create websites. The team is responsible for the look
of the website, the technical aspects such as performance, capacity, traffic, integrating
graphics, and audio and video, in order to create content, server and client-side scripting
and being able to work with operating systems, database and application servers.
WebSpace, has been commissioned by DoBu Martial Arts to develop a new website that will
promote the company and support some of its business operations.
DoBu Martial Arts is a martial arts gym. The gym offers classes in a number of different
martial arts, as well as fitness training and self-defence courses.
The gym has a large, matted martial arts area, a fully-equipped gym, a sauna, a steam room
and changing and shower facilities.
The owner of DoBu Martial Arts, and your line manager, have provided you with some
additional information to help you design and create the website. This information should
be used alongside any additional research you carry out.
Initial client requirements
DoBu Martial Arts has requested a website that will:
● promote the gym
● provide information about:
o the different martial arts that they teach
o their classes and prices.
● allow customers to create an account to manage their memberships
● provide social features (e.g. forums, social media integration).

● An explanation of the relationships between hardware and software used to design,
publish and access the DuBo Martial Arts website, with consideration of:

You are to design a multi-page website solution that will meet the needs of the DuBo Martial
Arts website.
Your design documents should include:

You should then use your design documents to implement a multi-page website that will
meet the needs of DuBo Martial Arts.
Your implementation should include the following.
● A branded, multi-page website for DuBo Martial Arts, supported with realistic content
from your additional research
● The creation of a suitable test plan for the site. The test plan should identify key areas
that cover both the functionality and performance of the developed website
● An explanation of the web design principles, standards and guidelines used
● A justification of the implementation of the multi-page website decisions against the
planned design decisions, noting any similarities or differences
● An implementation of the test plan against the final developed multi-page website
● Analysis of the QA process, including a review of how it was implemented during the
design and development stages of the multi-page website for DuBo Martial Arts.
Activity 3 (LO3 & LO4)
Evaluation
Produce an evaluative report that explores the design and development of the website, and
how well the final website meets the needs of DuBo Martial Arts.
The report should include the following.

options presented in Activity 1 that were used ultimately in the development of the

● An evaluation of the design and development process of making the DuBo Martial Arts
website, compared to the original design document

● An evaluation of the results of the Test Plan and the overall success of the website
● A list of recommended improvements for the DuBo Martial Arts websit; this could be
based on client feedback and the results of testing.
