PLANE CURVES BTL
a).The focus of a conic is 50mm from the directrix. Draw the locus of a point “P” moving in such a
way that its distance from the directrix is equal to its distance from the focus. Name the curve and
draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve. K3

b).The vertex of the curve is 50mm from its focus. Draw the curve if the eccentricity is 3/2. Name
the curve and draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
A circle of 50mm diameter rolls on a straight line without slipping. Trace the locus of a point “P”
K3
2 on the circumference of the circle rolling for one revolution. Name the curve and draw a tangent
and normal at any point on the curve.
a).Construct one convolution of an involute of a square of side 30mm. Draw the tangent and
normal at its any point.

b).Draw the involute of a circle of diameter 30mm. Construct the tangent and normal at a point on K3
the involute 65mm distant from the centre of the circle.
Construct the locus of a point P moving so that the ratio of the distance from a focus to its
K3
4 distance from a directrix is 3/4. Point focus F is at a distance of 70mm from directrix. Name the
curve, any two applications and draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
Draw an cycloidal of a circle of 40mm diameter, which rolls inside another circle of 160mm
K3

centre of the directing circle.
Draw an cycloidal of a circle of 40mm diameter, which rolls outside another circle of 160mm
K3
6 diameter for one revolution clockwise, draw a tangent and normal to it at a point 95mm from the
centre of the directing circle.
PROJECTION OF POINTS,LINES & PLANES
a).A line AB is measuring 70mm long has its end A is 15mm infront of VP and 20mm above
HP.The other end is 60mm infront of VP and 50mm above HP. Draw the projections and find its
true inclinations. K3

b).A line AB 75mm long as its end A 25mm above HP and 20mm in front of VP. The line is
inclined at 50° to HP and 30° to VP. Draw its projections and find its true inclinations.
a).A hexagonal plate of side 20mm rests on the HP on one of its sides inclined at 45° to the VP.
The surface of the plate makes an angle of 30° with the HP. Draw the front and top views of the
K3
8 plate.
b).A thin rectangular plate of side 40×20mm has its shorter side in the HP and inclined at an
angle of 30° to the VP. Project its front view when its top view is a perfect square of 20 mm side.
