About iOS and iPadOS 18.2 Beta
iOS and iPadOS 18.2 Beta introduces new features powered by Apple Intelligence, available in
US English. Please test the beta release to con rm that Apple Intelligence and the available
management controls work as expected in your environment.
Installing iOS and iPadOS 18.2 Beta
Supported Con gurations
Only devices compatible with Apple Intelligence will be offered iOS or iPadsOS 18.2 Beta. For a
list of compatible devices, visit https://www.apple.com/apple-intelligence.
iOS and iPadOS 18.2 Beta supports:
• iPhone 16, Plus, Pro and Pro Max
• iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
• iPad Pro M1 and later
• iPad Air M1 and later
• iPad Mini (A17 Pro)
Install the iOS or iPadOS beta
• If you are not signed in to the device with your Managed Apple Account, tap this link to open
the Beta updates menu. Sign in to Beta updates with your Managed Apple Account and
choose iOS or iPadOS 18 AppleSeed Beta.
• If you are signed in to the device with your Managed Apple Account, go to Settings > General
> Software Update > Beta Updates and choose iOS or iPadOS 18 AppleSeed Beta.
• On compatible devices, the 18.2 Beta will appear at the bottom of the pane for the current
available version of 18.x.
Restore from IPSW
You can restore the latest beta using the IPSW restore image and instructions on the AppleSeed
for IT Resources page.
Reporting Feedback
Please report any issue you nd via the Feedback Assistant app built into iOS or iPadOS Beta.
For best results use the app on the device that you are ling feedback about.

If you have an AppleCare OS Support plan, and you report a problem in Feedback Assistant
that would prevent your organization from deploying iOS 18, please open an AppleCare case as
well and include the Feedback ID.

New home for AppleSeed for IT
Update your bookmarks, AppleSeed for IT is moving to https://beta.apple.com/for-it. The current
URL, https://beta.apple.com/it will redirect to https://beta.apple.com/for-it for an interim period.
Content, authentication, and resources will remain the same.
Update MDM solutions to HTTP/2-based APNs
In March 2021, Apple deprecated the Apple Push Noti cation service (APNs) binary provider
API (https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=uzyxiriy).MDM servers using the legacy APNs binary
provider API will soon be blocked from sending MDM push noti cations.
Customers using a product or service that relies on the legacy binary provider API will need to
upgrade to a solution that uses the HTTP/2-based APNs provider API to continue to
communicate with managed devices using MDM.
Apple Intelligence
To try the Apple Intelligence beta, join the waitlist in Settings and you will be noti ed as soon as
it is ready for your device. Both device language and Siri language must be set to US English,
and device region must be set to United States. Apple Intelligence is not currently available for
iOS and iPadOS in China.
iOS and iPadOS 18.2 beta includes the Image Creation and ChatGPT integration features of
Apple Intelligence. For more information about Apple Intelligence refer to:

Image Creation
Apple Intelligence enables delightful new ways to express yourself visually.
• Make a brand-new Genmoji right in the keyboard to match any conversation. Provide a
description to see a preview, and adjust your description until it’s perfect.

• Image Wand can transform your rough sketch into a related image in the Notes app. Use your
nger or Apple Pencil to draw a circle around your sketch, and Image Wand will analyze the
content around it to produce a complementary visual. You can even circle an empty space,
and Image Wand will use the surrounding context to create a picture.
• Produce fun, original images in seconds with the Image Playground experience right in your
apps or in the dedicated Image Playground app.
• MDM can disable these features individually with the allowGenmoji, allowImageWand,
and allowImagePlayground restrictions.
ChatGPT Integration
Siri can tap into ChatGPT for certain requests, including questions about photos or documents.
And with Compose in Writing Tools, you can create and illustrate original content from scratch.
You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared.
Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. ChatGPT subscribers can
connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences.
• MDM can disable ChatGPT integration with the
allowExternalIntelligenceIntegrations restriction.
• (Beta 2) MDM can force ChatGPT into anonymous mode with the
allowExternalIntelligenceIntegrationsSignIn restriction. If a user is already
signed in to an external intelligence provider, applying this restriction will cause them to be
signed out.
Device Management
MDM can now con gure the default web browser using the new DefaultApplications key
in a Settings command. Use the new allowDefaultBrowserModification Restriction key
to prevent users from modifying the default browser.
Upcoming server certi cate requirements for 802.1X authentication servers
In a future update to iOS/iPadOS 18, the following certi cate requirements will be enforced on
server certi cates used for 802.1X authentication:
• When using TLS_ECDHE_RSA or TLS_DHE_RSA cipher suites, server certi cates
containing a Key Usage extension must have Digital Signature key usage set.
• When using TLS_RSA cipher suite, server certi cates containing a Key Usage extension
must have Key Encipherment key usage set.
