The very best public speakers usually share a number of important qualities. First, most great speakers
have a passion for their subject and motivation to succeed. It’s hard for a speaker to inspire people to save the
rainforests, for example, if rainforests are not something the speaker loves, and if the speaker is not willing to
work hard. Second, great speakers often have the capacity to make others take action. One way to do this is to
give the audience resources or tools they can use or learn from after the talk is over, such as links to online sites
that give more information about why rainforests are important. And last, but not least, great speakers can often
perceive how their audience is feeling and reacting. If an audience is growing bored, a great speaker can recognize
that and respond accordingly.
