PLANNING INFORMATION

1. REASON

Airbus Helicopters has been informed of a single case of failed main rotor hub / mast
attachment screws discovered on an EC130 type helicopter during a scheduled
maintenance operation.
This helicopter was operating in a severe atmosphere.
The technical event analysis conclusions indicated that the failure was due to abnormal
corrosion on all the screws.
AIRBUS Helicopters has therefore defined an improvement of the mast/hub link in
order to increase sealing and prevent corrosion.
Consequently, this SB proposes to improve the mast hub link with new bolts, and
adding sealant inside Main Rotor Hub.
The technical data and instructions contained in this SERVICE BULLETIN refer to the
modification 074966.

2. DESCRIPTION

This Service Bulletin provides instruction to:

– Replace the bolts and nuts
– Apply the sealant
– Install the new identification label.
