■ AT commands
When the modem is switched on it obeys AT commands (command mode).
Every command line must start with the letters AT as a signal to the modem.
When the modem receives this command it detects the rate, format and parity of its link with the
data terminal equipment (DTE).
Command lines finish with <CR> (carriage return).
E.g. ATL3CR
This command increases the volume of the loudspeaker.
The modem sends a message to indicate the command has been successfully completed (see
chapter «Result codes»).
E.g.: OK, ERROR
Several commands can be included in one AT sequence. They will be executed one after another.
E.g.: ATL3D3611CR
The D3611 command asks videotex to dial 3611.
Spaces can be inserted between characters, they will be ignored.
E.g.: AT L3 D3611CR
Exception: the command A/ which re-executes the previous command does not start by AT and
does not have CR at the end.

A set of S registers allows the modem to be configured (see chapter «Registers»). ATSn? allows
consultation of the n register. The reversed decimal value is between 000 and 255 (3 character
format). ATSn=v describes the v decimal value (between 0 and 255) in the n register.
E.g.: 1 ATS3?CR
Consulting S3 register. This register contains the character used as the end code
in a command line. Its default value is 13 (CR).
E.g.: 2 ATS0=2CR
Enter the value 2 in S0 register. This register specifies the ring count before the
modem answers. In this example the modem answers after 2 rings (S0=0 stops
the modem answering).

A Makes a connection in manual answer mode (identical to automatic answer after

several rings).
■ N.B.1: during the phase when the modem quits command mode to make a connection
(handshake) the communication will be interrupted if the terminal sends a character
or the DTR signal is disabled.

■ N.B.2: the &A command controls this interruption during handshake.

■ N.B.3: the &D command and S25 register setup the DTR management mode.

B Enables function mode

B, B0 Automatic mode (default configuration).

B2 CCITT V23 mode (line rate: 75/1200 send or 1200/75 receive).

D Starts a connection procedure.

E.g. : ATDCR (the modem takes the line and waits for the carrier tone of the
remote modem modem in order to connect).
Start an automatic call procedure with the command followed by a telephone
number.
Ex : ATD12345678CR (the modem takes the line, dials the number 12345678
and waits for the carrier in order to connect).
The following characters may be added to the telephone number dialled:
L Redial last telephone number
P Pulse dialling, e.g. ATDP12345678CR
S=n Dial a sequence stored in the non-volatile memory n(0 to 19 depending
on the model) by the &Zn command.
T Tone dialling, e.g. ATDT12345678CR
W Wait for dial tone before dialling the rest of the number. W is used to insert
a pause to wait for a dialling tone (for example international).
E.g.: ATD16W12345678CR
, S8 pause before dialling (only to be used with a PABX / switchboard).
E.g.: ATD0, 12345678
; Return to command mode after dialling. E.g.: ATD12345678;CR

■ Note 1: modem will hang up if an Ascii character is sent or the DTR signal is disabled
during dialling. The &A command controls the communication interruption when a cha-
racter is received from the terminal (during handshake). The &D command and S25
register set the DTR management mode.
■ Note 2: spaces may be inserted in the number being dialled, they will be ignored.
■ Note 3: *D allows consultation of delayed numbers and *B displays prohibited numbers.
■ Note 4: ATD<num> may send the message DELAYED 00:mm:ss (call late by mm minutes
and ss seconds). In the event of an incomplete call <num> may be BUSY, NO ANSWER or
NO CARRIER (if there is no connection after S7 seconds). ATD <NUM> may also send the
message BLACKLISTED.
