CARSON DUNLOP HOME INSPECTION TRAINING PROGRAM
HIABC’s preferred educational partner, Carson Dunlop, is approved by Consumer Protection BC for
provincial licensing requirements. The training program is 100% online and includes live, interactive
webinars with expert instructors who are also experienced BC home inspectors.
The course takes nine months to complete, but new students can enter the program at any time. To
meet the requirements of Consumer Protection BC, the Courses are split between live classroom and
self-study, for a total of 420 hours (42 hours per course). There are nine technical courses and one
Communication and Professional Practice Course.
COURSE FORMAT
• Instructor led live online classes
o There are eight three-hour online classes for each of nine technical courses.
• Self-study
o This includes reading, completing interactive online exercises, completing online case
studies and quizzes.
• Examinations
o There is a midterm and final examination for each course, administered online during
class. Results are available immediately upon completion of the exam.
• Quizzes
o There are two quizzes for every Course.
o Quizzes can be done during the class but must be submitted by 11pm the following
Sunday.
• The Communication & Professional Practice Course
o Completely self-study and should be completed at your own pace.
o There is also a midterm and final exam, which you can take online whenever you are
ready.
• Schedule
o The nine technical courses are run consecutively, but students may take the courses in
any order.
o Each technical course will start at the beginning of the scheduled month and run for
four weeks.
o You’ll be able to access the Course page on the online portal when the start date gets
close.

HOW TO ENROLL

2. Select a course or the full program by clicking on Add to Cart button.
3. Click ‘View Cart’ to go to checkout (the Home Reference eBook will automatically add to your
cart).
4. Select ‘Proceed to Checkout’.
5. Enter your billing and credit card information to complete your order.
6. Please allow 24-48 hours for Carson Dunlop to receive and process your order.
If you are a new student, you will be sent a welcome package by email with instructions on how
to begin. If you are an existing student, your course will be activated when your order is
processed.
COST AND RETURN POLICY
The cost for each course is $495 plus tax, and the cost for the full program is $4495 plus tax.
You have up to 14 days to return your course, or full program, for a full refund, less an administrative
fee of 5% of the cost, or $50, whichever is greater.
