HEY, IM ALYSSA!
If you got your hands on my free UGC checklist already,
then you are aware of how important taking this step is!
While there are many ways find out information about
UGC, I am glad you chose to come here to do so.
UGC stands for User Generated Content. Brands would
rather pay people like you and I instead of on huge
commercials. Why? because we are consumers and we
can be more relatable, and we are more cost effective in
their eyes. Your only job is to provide real authentic
videos of products sent by the brand in your niche. But
this e-book is going to focus on the online aspect of UGC.

WHAT TO DO
FIRST WHEN
STARTING UGC
Welcome to the beginning of your journey as
a UGC creator! We will delve into the
exhilarating world of content creation and
unlock the immense power of your creative
potential. But first, let’s start off with the
basics.
1. Find anything in your house and start
making videos about them! Yes, I said
that. Grab your phone and pick up the
stuff that you use on the daily and turn it
into content! I suggest making 4-5 videos
for your portfolio. Find other UGC
creators for inspiration and begin. (no
more than 60 sec videos).
2. Download Canva and create a free
portfolio. Whenever you'redone creating
your portfolio, you'll save and publish as
a website through canvasand keep your
link handy! This is going to make things
10X easier for brands to see your work
whether that is through this link or on
your social pages.
3. OUTREACH. Dm brands on social media,
ask them for the best person to contact
for partnerships, then once they send
that information, shoot your email over!
(I have an Email/DM/Follow template in
my Stan store! Feel free to snag those
templates and use as your own!
4. Now this final step is optional but so
important if you ask me. Create new
social pages dedicated to your UGC
examples and your UGC journey. Doing
this helps not only with inspiration but it
keeps your personal pages clear of “ad-
like” videos etc.
Why is UGC a Great side hustle
LITTLE TO NO FOLLOWERS
01 DON’T HAVE TO POST TO SOCIALS
Postingon your socials is mainly for people to get
attracted to your page. However, its not necessary. If a
brand reaches out to you or you reach out to them, you
are free to tell them that you only make UGC videos that
way there is no obligation to posting to your page.
02 YOU CAN CREATE YOUR OWN SCHEDULE
You dont’t have to worry about the pressure of trying to
post on time or sell anything online just to make money.
03 YOU CAN DO EVEYTHING FROM HOME
UGC is a great side hustle period because if you dont
have fancy equipment etc you can still do so many
things right in your hands.
How to
BUILD A PORTFOLIO
1. DOWNLOAD CANVA
Canva has so many ready to use portfolios but if you
don’t want to use those, you will click create a design
then when you are done you will click “publish as
website” instead of how you would normally save it. You
can search “website” or search “UGC portfolio” for
inspiration.
2. MENTION YOUR CONTACT INFO
Your email. phone number and your socials should all
be on your portfolio. It is key, as you will notice that
there are a decent amount of brands that will ask you
for yout social handles. (If you are taking the route of
not being/or posting to your pages then you definitely
want to pay attention to this next step.
3. UPLOAD SCREENSHOTS OR PICTURES OF YOUR WORK
Canva has the option to add a link to a photo. You will
want to use this feature because having clickable items
on your portfolio will make it easier for brands to get
immediately directed to your content examples. Choose
wisely as these will be the first thing a brand sees when
clicking on your portfolio.

How to
PITCH LIKE A PRO (LINGO)
1. BE PERSONABLE
While there are so many templates out there and so
many people you can use for inspiration, be sure to still
sound like you! Brands can tell when things are just
copy paste. Show your personality through the pitch at
all times.
2. BE PROFESSIONAL
When pitching, you want to engage like a buisness man
or woman. You want the brand to think that you’ve done
this a million times even if you haven't. In emails or
DM’s, don’t be afraid to use their first name if given or
their brand name. Things like this can make or break a
deal for you. Setting the tone will truly help you
succeed and come off more mature and confident.
3. GET TO KNOW THE BRAND
If you are reaching out to a brand and have zero idea
what they offer, stop while you are ahead. You are
setting yourself back. I made this mistake early on and
still have to catch myself at times. Yes we want to reach
out to a lot brands in a short period of time, but don’t
forget that you will one day be creating content for this
brand. The goal is to build lasting relationships with
them as well that way they will work with you again.
KEY POINTS
Pitch to 50 brands a week
Follow up with brands 3-5 days after initial
contact. Many brands won’t see your
email/DM due to high volumes etc. so
following up is a must!

ContentCreation
& SCRIPT WRITING
CONTENT MATTERS
If you are going to be successful in UGC, you have to put effort into your content. Effort can look
a lot of different ways but I will name a few.
Order some tiles on amazon to create your own backgrounds, or grab them from a hardware
store. Or you can use a silk blanket for a back drop etc.
Make sure your lighting is good. Whether that looks like getting a ring light ot filming in natural
lighting, brands pay attention to that.
Get creative. Film your content as if you are making your very own commercial. It is going to
feel weird at first but it will be so worth it. Go outside, use a water bottle to spray a product
or a dewy effect etc. Think out the box.
We have more features on our phones than we think. Look into what kind of phone you have
and take full advantage (shooting in cinematic view, 4K etc.)
Create B-roll shots. These are almost like “filler shots”. They’re shots that can go into your
UGC video between talking about the product etc. They’re also great videos to keep in yout
gallery to add text overlay on.
Get comfortable speaking into the camera.
A tip I learned recently was to add all your shots onto cap cut (or editing app of your
choosing) and then do your voice over 1st, it makes editing your clips a lot easier.
FILM WITH BACK CAMERA for better quality
WIPE CAMERA BEFORE FILMING
SCRIPT WRITING
Script writing was something I never knew I needed when I first started UGC. Now that I have
learned what it is I realize what I was missing. Honestly this is one of the most important things
on this guide in my opinion.
Typing or writing out your script will help cut down editing time.
Your script can help guide you if you are unsure of what videos to record. Start with your
script.
Having a great HOOK or attention getter is key. Brands want to know if you will be able to
grab their audiences attention in the first 3 seconds.
The body of your script needs to be not just entertaining but informative depending on
what the brand is asking you for.
You can even use capcut’s new telprompter feature and read your script that way
Be personable
Have a storyline
Be clear about what you'respeaking of with excitement. .
The importance of
CONTRACTS & INVOICES
CONTRACTS
The best way for a brand to not take advantage of you is to have a clear CLEAR contract! The more you grow
and the more you earn, you’ll be able to invest in a lawyer drafted brand contract that you can send to brands
rather than them just sending you theirs. If and when they do send a contract after agreeing on your
deliverables, pay etc you want to THOROUGHLY read this through as brands will try to
sneak small things in there thinking you don’t know any better.
if you need help, ASK for help. I didn’t understand how to properly read through a contract so I was constantly
on TikTok trying to gain a better understanding.
A well-drafted UGC contract plays the role of a protective shield. It helps safeguard your rights as content
creators from possible infringement or misuse by third parties.
They help set boundaries and expectations between both parties right from the start — making sure no
surprises pop up later down the line.
INVOICES
Sending an invoice to a brand can feel awkward at first, but it is so necessary in order for you
to actually get paid.
An invoice is essentially a receipt for the brand outlining exactly what you have done, when
the invoice was issued, when the deliverable was complete, and there should be the
companies name on the invoice as well.
There should also be an area on your invoice where you’re not only putting the prices but
you’re putting how much of each deliverable you’re giving them. For example, if there are two
videos, two-story post, etc. that should all be very clear for them to see and clear for them to
see how much they owe you for each deliverable. That also includes any add-ons you might
be offering as well during that campaign.
Something that I did learn recently was if you would like, you can put at the bottom of your
invoice, that you charge an extra fee any day that your payment is late. Companies are net 30
which means that they pay you out 30 days after you deliver. This is super important to pay
attention to because obviously you want to get paid as soon as possible when you do your
work so you wanna make sure you send your invoice out right away it’s not up to the company
to remind you about your invoice it’s your responsibility. I’ll leave an example invoice that I
have used at the end of this guide.
All you should know
USAGE RIGHTS
WHAT ARE USAGE RIGHTS
In general terms, usage rights are the permissions or
restrictions set by copyright holders on the use of their
creative work, also known as intellectual property. These
rights determine how businesses can use that content.
Usage rights is a necessary add on when reaching out to
brands because you’ll then ask them how long they
would want to keep your content and typically charge 20-
30% of your base rate per month. (I’ll leave an example
of my rate card at the end of this guide)
Some agreements grant usage rights “in perpetuity”
(meaning forever), while others set a limitation.
Agreeing on usage rights is important to set expectations
for your collaborations.
It puts everyone on the same page regarding your
partnership and lowers the risk of legal issues as a result
of copyright infringement.
If someone sues you for copyright infringement, you
could be on the hook for financial damages. What’s
more, you’d have to shelve any marketing campaigns
that use the content.
Understanding
DELIVERABLES & BRIEFS (TERMS) ETC
PERSONAL EXAMPLE OF A COLLAB I DID AND HOW DELIVERABLES/BRIEFS
I NEGOTIATED THE DEAL FROM $300 TO $720 A deliverable is the type of content you’re going to
be sending to a brand. They are clearly defined
steps that you will take to complete the
campaign/brief given by the company.
You always want to ask what they are looking for as
far as deliverables goals brand does say that they
are interested in working with you. That way you
have a clear understanding of exactly what it is that
you need to do and you’re not doing more or less.
Never be afraid to negotiate a deliverable if you want
as well.
There has been times where a brand has sent me
their deliverables, but their budget was lower than
what I was willing to do so I asked them if they were
willing to negotiate their deliverables that way I could
meet them at their budget. If they are able to do that
then it’s OK to decline the offer. Not every deal is a
good deal. You’re worth more than that!
Attached below will be some examples of
deliverables and also examples of what it looks like
to negotiate a deliverable.
MY GO-TO APPS TO
START EARNING ASAP
MY TOP 2 INCOME EARNING APPS
1. WeSponsored:
Hear me when I tell you! This app has generated almost $400 for me simply by applying to
sponsorships, ordering the items with THEIR pre paid card, and making a video/ taking
pics with their product then submitting it!
I love This app because I was able to get a lot of free items which helped me build my
portfolio since I was making videos for these brands.
The ONLY downside of this app is that the payouts aren’t as huge as if you were working
hand in hand with a specific brand but THATS OK! It’s a great way to learn how to make
content, and generate extra income as a beginner. Without having to pay out of pocket for
any products. (My earnings so far will be on the right.)

2. Kale App
I like this app because you can earn income from things you already have.
For example if you like tru fru frozen dessert and you have it laying around
the house, you can look on the app, apply to one of the challenge they
have for this brand and make a video about it and boom! $$$
The only downside of this app for some people is that you do have to post
these to your socials, and you do have to pay out of pocket for some of
the challenges if you don’t have it already at home. (My earnings so far
will be on the right).
