NUMBERS • 0 and 1 are not prime numbers.

• A Composite number has at least one more factor than the

COMPOSITE number itself or 1.
• In fact, all whole numbers that are not prime are
NUMBERS composite except for 1 and 0, which are neither prime nor
composite.

COMMON • When two (or more) numbers have the same factor, that factor is
FACTORS called a common factor.

FACTOR • A factor tree is a representa on of breaking down a larger number into

TREE its factors.

HIGHEST • The Highest Common Factor (H.C.F) of two (or more) numbers is
COMMON the largest number that divides both the numbers evenly.
FACTOR (H.C.F). • In other words, the H.C.F is the largest of all the common factors.

DIVISION TRICKS!
To divide numbers that end in zeroes, divide the rest of
the numbers. Then, count the zeroes and add them to the answer.

Examples: 2400 ÷ 2 = ?y 2 = 12.

First divide 24 b
There are two zeroes.
Write 2 zeroes after 12.
Therefore, 2400 ÷ 2 = 1200.
