What’s New
Firmware Updater Improvements (C-Bus Digital Dimmers, Voltage Free Relays and Key Input Units)
• Should a firmware update process be interrupted for some reason, a connected device may remain in
its “bootloader” mode. The Firmware Updater now recognises and supports the upgrade of the
device’s firmware in this mode after certain device information is entered by the User. This eliminates
the need to power cycle the device to return it to its normal operating mode.
o Note, only one device can be upgraded at a time.
• Should a firmware update process be interrupted for some reason, a connected device may remain in
its “updater” mode. The Firmware Updater now recognises and supports the upgrade of the device’s
firmware in this mode.
• In the event a firmware upgrade fails, the message displayed has now been expanded to help advise
the possible next steps.
• The process to upgrade the firmware is now optimised to skip certain file transfer activities to the
device, should these steps have already been performed, or should the file versions found on the
device be the same (NCC firmware and Dimmer Channel firmware). This eliminates unnecessary file
transfer activities and reducing the end-to-end time to complete the firmware update.
• It is now possible to successfully complete the firmware upgrade process of a C-Bus Digital Dimmer
which has channel banks that are not powered (no mains power).
o Note, the firmware upgrade process for channel banks that are not powered will be skipped.
• Updated help file contents to include the firmware updater improvements and optimisations.
Fixes
• The Firmware Updater will now support the update of a device found in bootloader mode.
Known Issues
• On occasion a delay may be seen in the time taken to see the network scan results begin to appear in
the Network Devices section after starting a network scan.
• The Network Summary (network calculator) is incorrectly using the values for new C-Bus Relay
devices for any old C-Bus Relay devices on a network, i.e. the Current Consumption, Current Supply,
etc for a C-Bus network are not correct.
• If the Properties window is relocated to the main workspace, after selecting a device in the
Workspace tab, switching to the Properties tab occasionally clears the Properties window.
• The SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission software is not compatible with and cannot be installed onto
Windows based PCs running ARM processors. No workaround exists at this time. Development
investigations are currently underway to provide a solution.
• When switching from C-Bus Devices and Application Log view, Application Log will take time to
refresh.
C-Gate 3.4.0
• This release includes C-Gate 3.4.0. For further details, refer to the C-Gate release notes later in this
document.
Released
October 2024
What’s New
Update Notifications
• This release includes the Schneider Electric Software Update system. By using this system, a Windows
notification will be displayed when an update to SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission is available. When an
update is available, there will be an option to download and install it when convenient (file also
includes the latest version of C-Gate 3).
• The C-Bus network scanning performance has been improved by approximately 10% when compared
to the time taken in v2.6.0. The time taken to scan a network in C-Bus Commission is now similar to
the time taken in C-Bus Toolkit (approx. 3 min 5 sec).
C-Bus network details used for time measurements:
o 58 C-Bus devices
o C-Bus PC interface to a standalone network
o Mix of older and new generation C-Bus devices
o Application data already exists in the project for the network devices being scanned (no
auto-creation activities occurring)
• The C-Bus scan results for a network that has already been scanned are now displayed for that
network upon clicking the C-Bus Device node. A scan may have already been completed in C-Bus
Toolkit and the need to scan a network again in the C-Bus Commission software has been eliminated,
which saves time.
• An incompletely scanned live C-Bus network device can now be loaded into the Properties window
after stopping a scan. The need to wait for a network scan to be completed before loading a live
network device has been eliminated, which saves time.
Convert Relay
• The Convert Unit feature now supports the conversion process of an old C-Bus Relay device in a
project to a new generation C-Bus Relay device, remapping the compatible properties for a seamless
transition. This aids in a faster process to replace a Relay device and retain and reuse its existing
programming.
• Supported conversions:
Old New
C-Bus L5504RVF Voltage Free 4 → C-Bus 5504RVF Voltage Free 4
Channel Relay device (RELDN4) Channel Relay device (RELDN4A)
C-Bus L5508RVF Voltage Free 8 → C-Bus 5508RVF Voltage Free 8
Channel Relay device (RELDN8) Channel Relay device (RELDN8A)
C-Bus L5512RVF Voltage Free 16 → C-Bus 5516RVF Voltage Free 16
Channel Relay device (RELDN12) Channel Relay device (RELDN16A)
Note, the remaining 4 channels of the 16 channel Relay remain in their default state.
• The software now supports the latest C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway firmware version 1.10.0, which resolves
an issue where Logic Group functions did not work.
• The Firmware Updater includes the latest firmware version 1.10.0.
• When extracting a C-Bus device from the live network to the project, the device in the project is
temporarily disabled while the extract process is underway.
• Support has been added for version 2.0.0 of the C-Bus Automation Controller and C-Bus Application
controller. This applies to the following devices:
o 5500NAC2 (SYS_NAC2)
o 5500AC2 (SYS_AC2)
• Updated help file contents to include the Software Updater, Convert Relay and Export Project to XML
file option.
Fixes
• The time taken to display the list of C-Bus devices in the project has been significantly reduced,
namely when the devices require a Device Name to be defined (i.e. devices viewed in C-Bus
Commission for the first time after being added to the project in Toolkit). The time improvement
experienced for larger networks may be over 90%.
• Create a bridge network from a live C-Bus Bridge device (Make Network), now extracts the near and
far side devices after adding them to the project.
• For the new CCT/Hue and Saturation Groups within a DALI Device (Address Mapping), when changing
the Application Index where a Group is already configured, should that group already be assigned to
another mapping property a validation error is not displayed.
Known Issues
• On occasion a delay may be seen in the time taken see the network scan results begin to appear in
the Network Devices section after starting a network scan.
• When switching from C-Bus Devices and Application Log view, Application Log will take time to
refresh.
• A slight delay may be seen when switching views back and forth between the Measurement and Error
applications where a large amount of data (150 items or more) exists.
• This release includes C-Gate 3.4.0. For further details, refer to the C-Gate release notes later in this
document.

What’s New
New C-Bus Voltage Free Relays
• This release includes full support for the new C-Bus Voltage Free 16, 8 and 4 Channel Relay devices –
5516RVF (RELDN16A), 5508RVF (RELDN8A) and 5504RVF (RELDN4A), including support for the latest
release firmware version 1.0.0. When adding a new Relay to the project, it will be added as version
1.0.0 by default.
• The Firmware Updater includes the latest firmware version 1.0.0.
C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway and DALI Devices - Additional C-Bus Group Mapping Properties
• The C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway (5502CDGP230, SYS_DAL2) now supports C-Bus Lighting group mapping for
control of Tunable White and RGB Colour control for DALI DT8 devices types.
Two new properties now appear in applicable sections for the C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway and DALI
controllable devices – “CCT/Hue Group” and “Saturation Group” per below:
• Broadcast Group*
• DALI Groups 1 to 16
• Virtual Groups 1 to 16
• DALI Device Address Mapping
Additional information:
• The “Group Mapping” name has been changed to “Brightness Group”.
• To control DALI Tunable White DT8 devices from C-Bus, the Brightness Group and the CCT/Hue
Group properties must be configured – the Saturation Group property must remain “Unused”.
• To control DALI RGB Colour DT8 devices from C-Bus, the Brightness Group, the CCT/Hue Group
and the Saturation Group properties must be configured.
• Configuring the CCT/Hue Group and the Saturation Group properties for devices other than DT8
will have no effect and are ignored by the C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway.
• The Application Index defined for the Brightness Group also applies to the CCT/Hue Group and to
the Saturation Group.
• C-Bus Groups assigned to the Brightness Group, the CCT/Hue Group and to the Saturation Group
(per the above list of sections) must must be unique on the DALI Line, i.e. used only once for the
DALI Line. Otherwise the mapping is invalid and control cannot be achieved.
Known Issue:
• CCT and RGB Colour control is not currently supported for the Broadcast Group (C-Bus DALI-2
Gateway Firmware limitation).
• The software now supports the latest C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway firmware version 1.9.0, which introduces
the new C-Bus Group Mapping functionality mentioned above. When adding a C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway
to the project, it will be added as version 1.9.0 by default.
• The Firmware Updater includes the latest firmware version 1.9.0.
• The Firmware Updater window is no longer embedded within the slide out Menu of the software. The
window is now a standalone fixed window, eliminating the risk of accidentally closing it and
potentially disrupting the firmware update process.
• It is now possible to export a SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission project back to the legacy XML file type
format for use with legacy C-Bus tools such as Toolkit 1.16.x and C-Gate 2.x or earlier, or with 3rd
party systems.
Note, the resulting file will not include information relating to new C-Bus devices, DALI Devices, new
C-Bus applications and any other new data that did not exist (not supported) in the previous legacy
environment.
• Updated help file contents to include the new C-Bus Group Mapping functionality mentioned above
(Tunable White and RGB Colour properties) of the C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway.
Fixes
• The “full stop” character is now supported (valid character) in Part Name field for all C-Bus devices.
• Within the Application table of the Scene Manager (new Key Input Unit devices) or the Controller
Project List Manager window (C-Bus Automation and Application Controllers), after selecting multiple
groups and then clicking slightly outside a checkbox of another group selection checkbox, this will
clear all the selected checkboxes.
• A group or level name can be created based on an existing group or level name however with a
leading and/or trailing space. This is invalid (creates duplicates) and is not maintaining uniqueness.
(Fixed in release v2.5.0).
• An incorrect validation error message is displayed when an unsupported Application address is used.
The message states “Application Address is already in use”, whereas it should state “Unsupported
Application Address selected”. Address range in now limited to valid limited options only. (Fixed in
release v2.5.0).
• After adding multiple devices from Toolkit using the Add Multiple function, when loading a project
device into the Properties window in SLCC, the SAVE button will be enabled. This is due to the serial
number property being empty. (Fixed in release v2.5.0).
Known Issues
• A slight delay may be seen when switching views back and forth between the Measurement and Error
applications where a large amount of data (150 items or more) exists.
• When switching from C-Bus Devices and Application Log view, Application Log will take time to
refresh.
• From the new C-Bus Group Mapping functionality mentioned above, for DALI Devices when changing
the Application Index where a Group is already configured, should that group already be assigned to
another mapping property already a validation error is not displayed.
• The SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission software is not compatible with and cannot be installed onto
Windows based PCs running ARM processors. No workaround exists at this time. Development
investigations are currently underway to provide a solution.
• This release includes C-Gate 3.3.4 For further details, refer to the C-Gate release notes later in this
document.

What’s New
New C-Bus Digital Dimmer firmware released
New firmware is now available for the DIMDD4 (5504D2D) and DIMDD8 (5508D1D) C-Bus
Digital Dimmer devices and is version 1.3.0. This is seen in the Firmware Updater window
and is also the default firmware version when adding a new device to a network.
Channel Dimming Mode comparison when deploying the C-Bus Digital Dimmers
As required for the C-Bus Digital Dimmer version 1.3.0 firmware, the dimming mode for each
channel must be confirmed during the device installation process. The software now
performs a comparison upon deployment of a C-Bus digital dimmer, checking for differences
between the dimming mode set for all channels of the dimmer within the software versus
the dimmer on the live network. If any differences are found, a window is then presented
including the results and instructions for next steps (continue to deploy or cancel).
Updated Custom Load Profile settings and default values (C-Bus Digital Dimmers)
The custom load profile settings and default values of the C-Bus Digital Dimmer have been
updated to improve the dimmer performance for certain load types and when setting a
Mains Frequency of 60 Hz. Changes apply to the following properties: Minimum Brightness
and Maximum Brightness, Soft Turn On and Soft Turn Off, Kickstart Brightness and Kickstart
Turn On.
Fixes
• When performing a Transfer to or Retrieve from a C-Bus Automation Controller and
Application Controller, if a Level name already exists in a Lighting application, it is not

Introduction
Welcome to the new SpaceLogic C-Bus Commission software. With this release, the C-Bus
Commission software offers capabilities to design a C-Bus project and incorporate the new C-Bus
DALI-2 Gateway and DALI devices as well as the new C-Bus Digital Dimmer devices.
Need to Know
The new C-Bus Commission software is built upon and includes a new version of C-Gate (C-Gate
3.2.0). The new version of C-Gate requires that updates are performed to the broader suite of C-Bus
software installed on the PC including C-Bus Toolkit, plus other applications such as PICED, etc.
If you have C-Bus Toolkit V1.16.x or earlier currently installed on your PC, you must also install the
latest release of C-Bus Toolkit (V1.17.0 or later) accompanying this release of C-Bus Commission.
Both C-Bus Toolkit and C-Bus Commission software applications are bundled with C-Gate 3.2.0.
For correct operation, other C-Bus software installed on your PC, such as PICED, HomeGate, etc.
must also be updated to work with C-Bate 3.2.0.
The new software approach to design, configure and commission a C-Bus solution is an evolution of
known methods. The C-Bus Commission software enables the configuration and deployment to new
C-Bus devices including the new C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway and DALI devices as well as the new C-Bus
This multi-tool approach offers a level of synergy between both C-Bus software applications. Use
both C-Bus Toolkit and C-Bus Commission for the task at hand, meaning for key fundamental design
functionality you could use either, for supported C-Bus devices use C-Bus Commission and for
remaining C-Bus devices use C-Bus Toolkit. Outstanding functionality can still be performed in C-Bus
Toolkit as per usual.
Importantly, you can work on the same C-Bus project from either the C-Bus Toolkit software or the
C-Bus Commission software. The same project file is used.
What’s New
New Project Format
This release includes support for the new project file format used by C-Gate 3.2.0. Only projects that
have been successfully converted can be opened.
Once projects have been converted to the new format, they cannot be used by C-Gate 2 or below.
The project conversion process creates a backup of the old project file, which can be found in
where
We strongly recommend creating a separate back up of projects before installing and running
this release.
If project files are being shared between team members, then all people working on that project will
have to upgrade to this release of C-Bus Commission, as well as upgrade to C-Bus Toolkit 1.17.0 (or
later) at the same time.
C-Bus Toolkit versions less than 1.17.0 still include and use C-Gate 2. These C-Bus Toolkit versions
must not be re-installed onto a PC that has been updated to use C-Bus Commission and C-Bus Toolkit
1.17.0. This is because C-Gate 2 and C-Gate 3 cannot co-exist on the same PC.
Window Layouts
Docking and undocking of windows is now supported to allow the layout to be customised to suit
the task being performed. Any customised layout will be remembered and restored the next time
the application is started, which can be enabled or disabled via the Settings > General Settings >
Remember Window Layout option.
The project hierarchy displayed in the Explorer window for an open project now includes the DALI
lines that are accessible from each C-Bus network. These can be found under the DALI Devices node.
DALI lines are automatically added to the node when C-Bus DALI-2 Gateway devices are added to a
C-Bus network in the Devices in Project list of the C-Bus Devices node.
Upon opening an existing project and selecting a C-Bus network for the first time, the C-Bus
Commission software will work through the list C-Bus devices and populate the Device Name
property with a unique Device Name.
If a Tag Name or Part Name have already been defined for a device, then either of them will be used
for the new Device Name property. A Tag Name other than NEWUNIT will be used before the Part
Name. If the Part Name is also NEWUNIT then the device’s catalogue number will be used.
The Device Name can be modified and saved using the “Name” property at the top of the Property
Editor for a selected device.
When adding devices to a project using the Add Multiple function of the Library, you have the option
to define the Device Name at this time to speed up this process in new projects. When adding
devices one at a time to a project, the Device Name will be defined as a catalogue number by
default.
To display the properties for a project device, single click on a device in the C-Bus Devices > Device in
Project or DALI Devices > DALI Line > Devices in Project lists.
To display the properties for a network device, double click on a device in the C-Bus Devices >
Network Devices or DALI Devices > DALI Line > Line Devices lists.
Changes are saved by clicking the Save button at the bottom of the Properties window. Likewise,
they can be cancelled by clicking the Cancel button at the bottom of the Properties window.
Changes can be saved back to the project or network device at the same time by selecting the
Deploy to Network or Save to Project option.
Deployment Queue
C-Bus Commission now provides an integrated queue for viewing the status of jobs that are
transferring configurations between project and network devices. This means that you can now
continue to work on other devices while the configuration of one is being saved to/from the
network, which represents a significant improvement from C-Bus Toolkit.
The Library window allows you to search for and filter devices based on given criteria to make it
easier to find the required device. A single instance of a device can be added by either double-
clicking it, dragging it to the Workspace area, or clicking the Add button. Multiple instances of the
device can be added by using the Add Multiple option from the Add button.
C-Gate Runtime
C-Bus Commission automatically starts and stops C-Gate locally when it is started and stopped. This
is regardless of whether C-Gate is running in service or console mode.
C-Bus Commission will not attempt to stop C-Gate if there are other clients such as, for example,
Schedule Plus or C-Bus Toolkit connected to it.
• Add Single and add multiple DALI devices to project / Delete devices from project
• Configure DALI devices in project and network: DT1, DT6, DT0, DT6 part of DT8
• Deploy and Extract of DALI devices
• Readdress Short Address in project and live
• Identify, 50/50 Identify and reconcile device
• Quick scan, Extended scan of DALI lines / Full Gateway Scan
• Reset/Remove/Replace DALI Devices
• Discover Faults on DALI lines
• Address all Unaddressed DALI devices
• Edit Network
o Currently C-Bus Commission has no method for editing the interface settings of a
network, preventing users from defining a new serial port or interface type for the
network
o This feature will be added in the future, along with a new feature called Open Using
that allows a temporary interface to a network to be opened without the need to
modify the project’s designed network topology
• Extract and Deploy all C-Bus devices (include unsupported devices)
o Currently C-Bus Commission does not provide the means to extract or deploy C-Bus
devices that do not have a full implementation within the Properties window.
o Currently C-Bus Commission and C-Bus Toolkit are required to be used together in
sequence to extract or deploy C-Bus devices that are supported within each
application (see the supported C-Bus devices section within these release notes)
• Import and Export of project
o Currently C-Bus Commission does not provide the ability to import or export
projects
o This feature remains in C-Bus Toolkit 1.17.0 and it will import / export all project
contents created for the project
• Dimmer Load Profile live testing
o Currently the digital dimmer configuration must be deployed to the device and
tested using C-Bus commands to observe the impacts of their modifications
o In a future release of C-Bus Commission a feature will be added that will allow for
rapid validation of configuration changes against a load when creating a custom load
profile or dimming curve for the new C-Bus digital dimmers
• Network Topology view
• Network Calculator
o Currently C-Bus Commission does not provide the ability to calculate network
metrics for devices within the project
o This feature is still present in C-Bus Toolkit 1.17.0 (and above) and supports all new
C-Bus devices that are supported by C-Bus Commission
Known Issues
• A slight delay may be seen when switching views back and forth between the Measurement
and Error applications where a large amount of data (150 items or more) exists.

What’s New
Folder Changes
This release changes where the C-Gate application and its project files are stored on disk.
This new project format is not editable outside of C-Gate and other associated C-Bus software.
Old format projects are converted by C-Gate automatically to the new format as a background task
when C-Gate is started. Projects are converted according to their last modified date, meaning that
the most recently used will be converted first. Projects waiting to be converted or in the process of
conversion cannot be opened until they have been successfully converted.
