7PG21
Pilot wire current differential
siemens.com/reyrolle

The Reyrolle 7PG21 is a three phase unit differential pro-

tection used to detect in zone phase and earth faults. The
relay is applied to overhead line and underground cable
circuits as well as shorter circuits such as interconnectors.
This established protection system provides a simple,
robust protection of proven performance facilitating
straightforward installation, commissioning and
maintenance.

Highlights Benefits
• Easy to Install, Commission, and Maintain – provides
High transient stability
significant operational efficiencies and cost savings
• Enhanced System Reliability – ensures that your
electrical system remains stable and reliable, even
High speed operation
during external disturbances, preventing costly
downtime and equipment damage.
• Pilot Supervision Schemes Available – offers constant
Long proven service experience

15 kV Isolation Overcurrent Guard

The Solkor R/Rf relay has an insulation level of 5 kV The Solkor relay can be used with an Overcurrent Guard
between pilot connections and the local ground to relay to avoid operation for damaged pilots during
withstand voltages induced on the pilot cable due to normal load levels.

differential ground voltages caused by the flow of fault connect to the same CT’s and will have negligible

usually adequate for most distribution feeders. the traditional Solkor scheme with waveform recording
For higher voltage systems where feeders may be longer functions, data storage and remote communications
and fault levels higher, an additional external isolation facilities.
transformer is available for use with the relay in Rf mode Function Overview
to increase the voltage withstand to 15 kV. • Low phase and earth fault settings
5 kV systems may be suitable for higher voltage systems • Little or no setting variation with pilot length
where fault levels are low or feeder lengths are short. • Test points at relay fascia
One isolation transformer is fitted at each end of the • In zone bleed off of up to 20% of rated load
pilot circuit. • Easily reconnected as either Solkor Rf or Solkor R
Pilot supervision • Option of 15 kV pilot isolation
Communication via the pilots between the relay pair is • Option of pilot supervision
essential for correct operation of the Current Differential
protection system.
Additional external Pilot Supervision equipment can be
supplied to detect pilot cable open circuit which can lead
to protection operation or short circuit pilots which will
greatly reduce the sensitivity of the relays under Webinar series - Reyrolle essentials
subsequent fault conditions.
Pilot supervision will not block relay operation but will Catalog Reyrolle 7PG21 – Solkor R/Rf

to suit the 5 kV or 15 kV insulation level of the scheme. Online shop - Industry Mall
