Read the scenarios carefully and answer the questions
using critical thinking and analytical skills. (With key
                         answers)
                            1. Scenario 1: John has been experiencing
                               frequent headaches, fatigue, and difficulty
concentrating. He notices that these symptoms
often occur after long periods of studying.
Identify the physiological indicator that might be
responsible for John's symptoms and explain
                               how it affects his health.
Question: What could be the physiological
indicator causing John's symptoms, and how
                               does it impact his health?
Answer: The physiological indicator is likely
stress. Stress can trigger headaches, fatigue,
                               and difficulty concentrating, especially during
prolonged periods of intense study. When the
body experiences stress, it releases hormones
like cortisol, which can affect brain function,
                               leading to these symptoms.
                            2. Scenario 2: Sarah is training for a marathon.
She monitors her heart rate during exercise to
optimize her training intensity. Recently, she
noticed that her resting heart rate has
decreased significantly compared to before she
                               started training. Analyze Sarah's physiological
indicator changes and discuss their implications
                               for her cardiovascular health.
Question: What do Sarah's changes in heart
rate indicate about her cardiovascular health,
and how might they affect her marathon
                               training?
Answer: Sarah's decreased resting heart rate
suggests improved cardiovascular fitness due to
her marathon training. A lower resting heart rate
indicates that her heart is more efficient at
pumping blood, which is a positive adaptation to
exercise. This improvement means her heart
doesn't have to work as hard during rest,
allowing her to sustain higher exercise
intensities for longer periods during her
   marathon training.
3. Scenario 3: David recently started practicing
mindfulness meditation to manage his stress
levels. He notices that after each meditation
session, he feels more relaxed, and his
breathing becomes slower and deeper. Evaluate
   the physiological indicator changes David
experiences during meditation and discuss their
   significance for his overall well-being.
Question: How do the physiological changes
   David experiences during meditation contribute
to his overall well-being, and why are they
   significant?
Answer: The slower and deeper breathing
   David experiences during meditation is
indicative of a shift towards parasympathetic
   nervous system dominance, promoting
   relaxation and stress reduction. This
physiological response leads to decreased heart
rate, blood pressure, and muscle tension,
fostering a state of calmness and well-being.
These changes are significant as they
counteract the detrimental effects of chronic
stress on physical and mental health, promoting
   relaxation and enhancing overall well-being.
4. Scenario 4: Emily has been struggling with
   insomnia, experiencing difficulty falling asleep
and staying asleep throughout the night. She
notices that on days when she exercises
   vigorously, her sleep quality improves
   significantly. Analyze the physiological indicator
involved in Emily's sleep patterns and discuss
the relationship between exercise and sleep
   quality.
Question: How does vigorous exercise impact
Emily's sleep quality, and what physiological
indicator is involved in this relationship?
   Answer: Vigorous exercise improves Emily's
sleep quality by promoting the release of
endorphins and reducing levels of stress
hormones like cortisol, which helps to regulate
                                 her sleep-wake cycle. Additionally, exercise
                                 increases body temperature, which
                                 subsequently drops post-exercise, signaling to
the body that it's time to sleep. The
physiological indicator involved is the regulation
of neurotransmitters and hormones, such as
endorphins and cortisol, which influence sleep
                                 patterns and quality.

Dancing is one of the best ways to be more physically and mentally healthy.
It helps you to be more active and have fun at the same time. At any rate, there will
be times that our body get tired and can risk our health when performing
recreational
activity is not observed properly.
What are the health risks that may occur when performing physical
activities?
Dehydration refers to the loss of too much water from the body due to hot
temperature, fever or excessive exercise. A person will get dehydrated by not
drinking
enough water, too much exposure on hot temperature condition, excessive
perspiration, vomiting, high fever and diarrhea. Effects of dehydration in our body is
very serious and should not be taken lightly. If you are having dry thirsty mouth,
become fatigue, nausea, dizziness, dry skin, dark colored urine, muscle cramps,
headache and out of focus, you may be experiencing symptoms of dehydration.
Always remember to hydrate yourself with water to avoid dehydration.
Hyperthermia happens when the body overheats and cannot dissipate, usually
at a body temperature of more than 38 degrees Celsius. It is cause by high fever or
too much exposure on hot temperature condition. The symptoms of hyperthermia
are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, muscle cramps, fatigue, headache and heat stroke.
A person suffering from hyperthermia may collapse or worst, may die. Awareness,
proper ventilation and hydration is needed to avoid hyperthermia.
On the other hand, hypothermia occurs when body temperature is lower than
the normal average of 37 degrees Celsius. The usual cause of hypothermia is when
the body is subjected to too much cold, mostly through weather and water. Signs of
hypothermia are shivering, shallow breathing, confusion, memory loss, drowsiness
or exhaustion, mumbled speech, loss of coordination, weak pulse and
unconsciousness.
Injuries are damaged tissues or organs which occur when it encounters
trauma or physical force that greater than what it can resist or absorb. The most
common examples of injury are sprain, strain, fracture and dislocation.
Lastly, overexertion is the action of putting oneself into too much pressure or
effort. Signs of overexertion are dizziness, feeling faint, lightheadedness, nausea,
shortness of breath, thirst and vomiting.
