THE FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
Lord Jesus Christ, You were given all power and authority, yet You humbled Yourself and became obedient unto death for me and for all. Through Your suffering, death and resurrection I have pardon and peace even as You have called me to be Your disciple. You have given authority to Your Church on earth to make disciples and to forgive sins as we have been forgiven. Grant that I remain obedient to the will of the Father even as I rejoice in His grace and mercy given to me through You. I pray this in Your holy name. Amen
WELCOME
Welcome to everyone! What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him. In our Gospel reading for today this is the way the people reacted to the powerful teaching of Jesus. That teaching of Jesus continues today whenever His Word is read and preached. Today we are strengthened in that Word as we come together for Divine Service, for that Word does not return to Him empty, but accomplishes the task for which it was sent, the creation of faith and the strengthening of that faith to eternal life. If you are visiting with us today we especially wish to welcome you and we pray that you will be comforted by the Good News of Jesus and the salvation that He freely gives. We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return it to an Usher as the Offering is collected. Restrooms are located on the lower level of this building or across the bridge on this floor level before entering the fellowship hall. If you have any questions please ask one of our greeters or ushers. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.
AS WE GATHER
This is the year of the Gospel according to St. Mark. His Gospel is brief and to the point. But what is the point? The point is that Marks Gospel account is not finisheduntil it is finished in you! The people were astonished and surprised at Jesus demonstration of power even over the demons. But the ones who were most surprised were the demons themselves. It is not surprising that the evil spirits must bow in obedience to almighty God. What is surprising is that almighty God now stands before them in this seemingly weak, mortal human being named Jesus! When we hear, receive and believe this Gospel we are empowered by Gospel Means (Word and Sacraments) to live as Gods people, using the armor of God and its authority to resist temptation and rejoice in the grace and mercy of God in our lives.
NEXT WEEKS READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, February 5th: Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany, are: The Old Testament Reading: Isaiah 40:21-31, The Epistle Reading: 1 Corinthians 9:16-27, and The Gospel Reading: Mark 1:29-39.

THE ORDER OF DIVINE SERVICE FOR THE FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
Confession of Sins
P Almighty God, our maker and redeemer, we poor sinners confess unto You that we are by nature sinful and unclean and that we have sinned against You by thought, word, and deed. Wherefore we flee for refuge to Your infinite mercy, seeking and imploring Your grace for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. C O most merciful God, who has given Your only-begotten Son to die for us, have mercy upon us and for His sake grant us remission of all our sins; and by Your Holy Spirit increase in us true knowledge of You and of Your will and true obedience to Your Word, to the end that by Your grace we may come to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

To those who believe on His name He gives power to become the children of God and has promised them His Holy Spirit. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved. Grant this, Lord, unto us all. C Amen

Invocation
P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen
P Many are the sorrows of the wicked, C but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD. P Blessd is the one whose transgression is forgiven, C whose sin is covered. P Blessd is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, C and in whose spirit there is no deceit. P I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; C I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. P Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; C surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. P You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; C you surround me with shouts of deliverance.
Exhortation
Hebrews 10:22; Psalm 124:8; Psalm 32:5
P Beloved in the Lord! Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. P Our help is in the name of the Lord, C who made heaven and earth. P I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, C and You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Apostles' Creed
C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen

SUNDAY BIBLE CLASS Pastor Walters Bible Class meets at 9:45 a.m. this morning in Parker Hall. Pastor is continuing the study of the book of Exodus. THE YOUNG WOMEN OF GRACE will meet for Bible study each Sunday morning in the classroom downstairs in the church. Bible study materials are provided, and child care is available in the church nursery. Contact Gina Junkans for more information. REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS: Vera Rieve is hospitalized at Baptist Medical Center. Sherry Bischof continues her recovery and treatments. Jeanette Keehn continues her recovery at home. PASTOR MARK EISOLDS PERU MISSION UPDATE
In early January, the Peru Mission Team was blessed to host a team from Grace Lutheran Church in Midland, Texas, who organized and led their first Vacation Bible School in San Borja, Peru. They are also reaching out to the people of this community through events like Bible Studies and English speaking night, in which those people who have been learning English can have an evening to practice speaking with their team. The entire Peru Mission Team is very excited - they received their carnets!!! This means that they are now residents of Peru. After Pastor Eisold and his wife Sandi received theirs, they were able to sign the residency paperwork for their children. This is so important because until now there were many things they could not do in Peru. Now they can sign contracts without going through lots of extra paperwork and paying extra fees. They can also purchase a vehicle, get a driver's license and get a better cell phone plan. They have learned so much about how things work in Peru by going through this process. The Eisold Family loves to receive letters and notes of encouragement. Their address and important dates are below: La Familia Eisold Calle Matier 212 Departamento 402 San Borja, Lima 47 Peru Pastor Eisold and Sandis wedding anniversary is July 12 Pastor Eisolds birthday Sandis birthday Annalises birthday (5th grader) Eriks birthday (3rd grader) August 24 May 18 June 22 April 4
To read more about the Mission in Peru, go to www.gracelutheranlr.org home page and click on the picture of the Eisold Family or to World Missions website www.lcms.org/eisold. Please continue to keep the Peru Mission Team and the Eisold family in your prayers.
