Writing Task 2: University education should be free to everyone,

regardless of income. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, many students are unable to pursue higher education
due to the prohibitive prices of attending college. Numerous
governments have put out plans for free education, which would
eliminate tuition costs for all students, regardless of their
financial situation. A tuition-free program would be more
detrimental than beneficial, even though the tuition costs are
somewhat exorbitant.
Admittedly, Free university education would provide equal
opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their
socioeconomic background, thereby reducing inequality and
allowing talent to flourish irrespective of financial constraints.
By investing in education, societies can create a more skilled
workforce, which can lead to increased innovation, productivity,
and overall economic growth. An educated population is better
equipped to tackle complex problems and contribute to the
economy in meaningful ways.
However, given the serious disadvantages that such a program
would bring about, I think it might cause more harm than
benefit. Implementing free university education requires
substantial government funding, which may place a heavy
burden on taxpayers. It could lead to increased taxes or
reallocation of funds from other important sectors like
healthcare and infrastructure. With higher accessibility,
university degrees might become overly common, potentially
leading to an oversaturated job market and diminishing the value
of a degree. This might also result in decreased motivation
among students if the perceived value of a higher education is
reduced.
In conclusion, even though I acknowledge that universal free
university education has certain advantages, I continue to hold
the opinion that this should not be promoted since it may have
detrimental effects on society.
