Housekeeping Department.
1. Purpose:
To ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall upkeep of Pumzika Luxury Safari Camp, providing a
comfortable and pleasant environment for all guests.
2. Scope:
This SOP applies to all housekeeping staff and contractors working within Pumzika Luxury Safari Camp.
3. Responsibilities:
Housekeeping Supervisor:
Oversees all housekeeping activities, ensures compliance with SOPs, and coordinates with other
departments.
Housekeeping Staff:
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks as outlined in this SOP.
Contractors:
Carry out specialized cleaning tasks as required.
4. Procedures:
4.1 Daily Cleaning:
Guest Rooms:
Make beds with fresh linens.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and mirrors.
Dust all surfaces, including furniture and fixtures.
Vacuum carpets and mop floors.
Replenish toiletries and other amenities.
Empty trash bins and replace liners.
Common Areas:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops.
Clean windows and glass doors.
Empty trash bins and replace liners.
Ensure all common areas are tidy and presentable.
4.2 Weekly Cleaning:
Deep Cleaning:
Perform a thorough cleaning of guest tents
Clean under furniture and in hard-to-reach areas.
Wash windows and window sills.
Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, including appliances.
Laundry:
Wash, dry, and fold linens and towels.
Ensure all laundry is clean and ready for use.
4.3 Monthly Cleaning:
Maintenance Checks:
Inspect and report any maintenance issues, such as leaky faucets or broken fixtures.
Clean and maintain all installed electricals as per tents
Check and restock cleaning supplies and equipment.
5. Emergency Procedures:
Emergency Contacts:
Maintain a list of emergency contacts, including local emergency services and contractors.
Evacuation Plan:
Ensure all staff are familiar with the camp’s evacuation plan and procedures.
Incident Reporting:
Report any incidents or accidents immediately to the Housekeeping supervisor and document
them in the incident log.

Staff Training:

response.
Contractor Training:
Ensure all contractors are briefed on the camp’s SOPs and safety procedures before commencing
work.

Document all incidents and accidents, including the actions taken to resolve them.
Inventory Records:
Maintain accurate records of all cleaning supplies and equipment.
