Night

The sun descending in the west,
The evening star doth shine;
The birds are silent in their nest,
And I must seek for mine.
Paraphrase the stanza.
The poem starts the poem as he describes the sunset andthen talks of the
Evening Star. The birds, which flew andsang during the day, are now quiet in
their nests. The poetshows us with the description of the scenery which is
madeto sound beautiful, almost enchanted. The poet also knowsthat it is time
for him to go home, which is his nest.
Pick out figure of speech and writing techniques with explanation.
Metaphor:
And I must seek for mine.
The poet compares himself to a bird that looks for his nest.

Alliteration:

The 'm' sound in 'must' and 'mine' is repeated to create internal music.

heaven. The moon seems to be happy as it smiles down on the earth at night
