Task for Technical Product Manager

We are seeking a technical product manager/ delivery manager to lead Lynkit’s product
journey, from product design to product deployment. As your role would be to help us
deploy and deliver new features and functionalities or even whole enterprise solutions, we
would like to see your approach to the following task:

Introduction
One of our flagship products in the market today is our transport management system
Lynkit.io®. Some of the world’s largest companies are users of this product – such as
Samsung, Aditya Birla, Flipkart, Delhivery and Blue Dart.
Lynkit.io's standard platform provides fleet management, driver management, freight
invoicing, analytics and so on (available on web as well as mobile).

Task
One feature in particular that has added tremendous value for our users has been our
dispatch planning feature. With this, our users can not only create trips and manage
dispatches on the app, but also optimize their operations.
This dispatch planning feature includes - route planning, vehicle load planning, driver
allocation etc. Our dispatch plan takes into consideration data inputs from various
sources, including Google map APIs, volumetric load calculations, user input for route/
trip preferences which then are processed through our own algorithms to provide a plan.
If you were a technical product manager/ delivery manager responsible to deploy this
feature, how would you do it? Can you mock-up what it could look like? What inputs/
outputs and logic implementations would you plan for? Think about what resources
you would require, what integrations we could do with our clients, how long would it
take?

Tips

• Think of input parameters used to determine an optimized dispatch plan. What


outputs would you get? What logics would be implemented? How may they be used by
companies for better decision making?
• Can you mock-up what this feature would like. What inputs would be taken on a per-
trip basis and what inputs would be taken as standard settings. You can do it either for
a mobile or web app view. Think about how you could showcase the dispatch plan to
different types of users, depending on their roles/ permissions.
• Think timelines – feel free to mock-up a Gantt chart or any other chart
• Think resources – what skill sets would you need to design, develop and deploy this
feature
• Think architecture – for potential APIs from client or third-party providers,
technologies being used etc.
