Presentation is the practice of showing and
explaining the content of a topic to an
audience or learner.
Presentation is also the means of
communication which can be adapted to
various speaking situation, such as talking to
a group, addressing a meeting or briefing a
team
There are 5 types of presentation:
1 ) Informative: Keep an informative
presentation brief and to the point. Stick to
the facts and avoid complicated information.
2) Instructional: Your purpose in an
instructional presentation is to give specific
directions or orders. Your presentation will
probably be a bit longer, because it has to
cover your topic thoroughly.
3) Arousing: Your purpose in an arousing
presentation is to make people think about a
certain problem or situation.
4) Decision-making: Your purpose in a decision-
making presentation is to move your audience to
take your suggested action. A decision-making
presentation presents ideas, suggestions, and
arguments strongly enough to persuade an
audience to carry out your requests.
5) Persuasive: Your purpose in a persuasive
presentation is to convince your listeners to
accept your proposal

a. To educate about earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest
b. To educate how to use software applications
c. To emphasize key points during a presentation or speech d.
To explain emergency procedures
2. To Persuade
a. To advertize and describe the features of a product
b. To sell cars with interactive features that allow users to
select color combinations, trim, and other options
3. To Narrate, Broadcast Messages, or Entertain
a. To display the names of the students who placed in FBLA
competitions
b. To display the words of a song or speech for audience
participation
1. Content is trivial or does not have a clear
purpose
2. Content is so dissected from its original
form when translated into a presentation that
its meaning is lost
3. Content is presented in its original form as
an emotional speech, an historical
declaration, or a memoir and should be
preserved

PowerPoint is a presentation software package.
PowerPoint presentation consists of a number of
individual pages or “slides.” Slides may contain text,
graphics, tables, movies, etc. The presentation can be
printed, displayed on a computer, and can be
projected using a video projector. PowerPoint can add
animation to your texts, graphics, tables, movies, and
other objects through Custom Animations. You can
also add transition (movement) between your slides.
PowerPoint 2010 has a new, intuitive user interface called the Microsoft Office
Fluent User Interface, which helps you create better presentations quicker.
Additionally, PowerPoint 2010 offers new and improved effects, themes, and
layouts.
In the upper‐left corner is the Microsoft Office button.
When you click the button, a menu appears. You can use the
menu to create a new file, open your existing file, save a file,
and print a file.
Next to the Microsoft Office button is the Quick Access
toolbar. The quick access toolbar is a customizable toolbar
that contains commands
The Ribbon
You can use the commands to tell PowerPoint what
to do. The Ribbon is located at the top of the
PowerPoint Window. At the top of the Ribbon there
are several tables; clicking a table displaces several
replanted group commands. You can click on the
command buttons to issue commands or to access
menus.

slides. Use the slide show view when you want to
view your slides as they will look in your final
presentation
